Loved it!!

better go before more snow comes, only me and 2 other hikers were on the trail, and they luckily marked the way with their feet. Awesome views all around. Bring snow chains if in a small vehicle, I passed a sedan that slid into a ditch in my Nissan Sentra, i had no issue with chains on my tires. snow is about 6 inches at TH, more at the top, very quiet and a nice getaway

Easy trail. Lots of pines. Not much else.

First hike on a Cheyenne Mountain trail, heavy snow and white out. Ice under the snow in areas . I needed teeth on my boots, the gear I had was to wimpy. Steep in areas, challenging for a short legged person to do. Nice workout. Even with the weather we ran into four other groups. We opted for this trail because the road was too slick for us to go any further up the mountain. They closed the road as we were leaving.

It’s closed so obviously it is an absolutely terrible lack of a hike and you must definitely not do it. Or do it but don’t tell anyone, because then everyone will know you did a hike that nobody does because it’s absolutely terrible and it is closed. My dog tried to say she likes it but I wouldn’t let her.

Great challenge, reservoir has no trespassing signs but had no trouble checking it out. Go right at the end of Heizer trail, def worth it. It’s steep for the first half, then goes downhill. Great hike for aspiring 14ers

Well marked and great views at the top!

Some pretty underwhelming bridges. I will say the middle of Cheyene Canon was very nice though. It was super windy, very quiet and peaceful, may as well just hang out around the center and views from the side and skip the bridges.

First time on this trail this afternoon. Nice trail, a few mildly interesting spots and a bit of a view right before the falls. Even without any mind blowing highlights, there is pretty complete immersion in nature. Was a bit icy in spots... I didn’t have any traction devices and my dog and I were just fine, but bring some kind of spikes if you aren’t comfortable on ice. There are still plenty of decent foot placements that aren’t solid ice if your eyes are open, but I’m sure many would appreciate spikes. I’m wondering how this’ll be in late winter/spring though... yikes!

Some mention they recorded the trail as longer than 6.3 miles, but my gps recorded it at 6.2 miles, 1440 ft of ascent, and it didn’t feel any longer than that to me.

I agree with previous post. The trail is icy; poles and crampons recommended. Two days ago I left a blue dog leash on top near a bush. If anyone finds it, I would really appreciate it if you left it at the Academy Visitor’s Center at the base of the trail. Great hike!

Trail is indeed open and lovely!

Very challenging hike, especially with 6+ inches of snow on the ground. With all the snow, trails aren’t marked that well, just follow everyone else’s footprints and hope they go in the right direction. Great views on top of Horsethief and Pancake. Overall for me was 8 mile round trip.

awesome challenging hike! but take it slow if you're going in the next few days. the packed snow on the trail has made for some very slick, treacherous areas. hiking poles are highly recommended.

Did this hike 8/22/18...for my friends 70 b’day challenge. Very enjoyable hike with wonderful views . We started st 5am to avoid afternoon showers. Trail well marked and thank goodness for the carens as we traversed the boulder field at the top. The donuts tasted soooo good when we reached the top... and yes, lots of people st the summit!

It was awesome! But - keep your AllTrails app open the whole hike up - you can easily get off the trail, like others said, hiking poles would help, loose gravel but totally manageable. I started at 9am on a Sunday and there were a few spots left in the lot - there were some small streams for the pups too!

First hike in about six years but it was totally excellent. Weather at the peak was about 40 degrees F and a bit windy. The rock outcropping for the final .3ish to the top is tough but not impossible. If you’re not a hiker like me, take it slow and enjoy the journey.

Beautiful but definitely a challenge. If you are visiting, bring water and be prepared for climbing up on rocks. Waterfall was lovely even though it’s not a lot of water. But considering it hasn’t rained, it was such a treat to hear any water. Loved it.

Open today! Lots of people hiking. Gorgeous as always.

Nice easy trail

Tough but beautiful!!! worth the work!!

very nice trail run

Anyone know if it’s still closed?

This is a beautiful hike. The trailhead is about a mile from the parking lot on the right and is marked as 622. Above the last bridge, there’s a lot of loose gravel/rocks that can get a bit sketchy at times. The trail shifts to 622A, which will take you to the Apens. After the Aspens, you will come to a trail junction. To the far right you will see an unmarked trail that will take you to the top of Keneo. This hike is all up, but definitely worth it. Took us about 2 hours up and about and 1:15 to get down. We took lots of picture.

Beautiful view of the Broadmoors 7 falls and zip lining course

Has a little bit of everything!

Decent trail but you have to hike 3/4 of a mile up the road to get to the trailhead and the lake at the end is full of people who just got in their car and drove there.
