Great trail with a few areas of steeper incline to get the heart really pumping. I did the entire trail, however, I would avoid the southern parts of the trail for the next few weeks until the bugs and flooding die down if you don’t want to deal with gnats and mud. The southern portion was super muddy, I was covered from the knees down by the time I finished. I was also followed by a swarm of bugs and mosquitoes the whole time, and walked through about 7 spider webs on the southern portion. Otherwise, the Boone trail is a really enjoyable, peaceful hike!

I think I just saw a bald eagle flying over the river

Hiked this after a storm last night. Wet & muddy, but that's why boots are made. Very nice hike, but the trails are poorly marked. Some signage would be great - Glad I had the All trails app). The bakery in St Peter's village is sweet (pun intended!).

It's not the hidden gem that it used to be but it's still a great place to hike. Most people stick to the lower area but if you're adventurous you can head up top and find an old quarry in the middle of the woods with a pretty cool overlook.

we walked from the boat launch to the damn. it was slightly difficult trying to figure out where the hiking trails even were at first. we went to the parking lot by the pool and she showed us a “hiking” trail but it’s i wouldn’t really call it a hike, it was more of a path to little areas to get to the water. still beautiful scenery but i was more excited to just hike. we eventually found another spot to park on the other side of the lake and had to go through the woods to find the boat launch where you can also rent kayaks and paddle boards which was pretty awesome. we saw horses as well! but the hike it self from that boat launch to the damn was lovely, just remember to be prepared to jump to the side at any moment as paths get very small at points and bikers are riding through as well!! wear comfy shoes , they don’t necessary need to be hiking shoes as there isn’t hills and it isn’t too rocky! 5/5 because i had fun and it was beautiful! also got to eat some raspberries off the bushes! (if you don’t know what it is... don’t eat it!)

Was first time on a hike...was a lot of fun and the trail was wooded and well marked. Nice to see water falls and we really enjoyed the yellow trail. Was moderate hills and rocky paths. Some nice historical parts along the way as well.

Gorgeous views, well marked trails. Be sure your horse is road safe as there’s a few crossings, as well as a few places you’ll need to cross the water. A few very steep trails - definitely not the place for a horse that’s not sure-footed! But otherwise lovely.

Overall pretty easy with a few steep elevation changes that put it to the moderate level. Actually started running for stretches in some parts as it was so flat. Trails are well marked but the same trail tends to open in multiple directions several times on the trip making it a bit confusing. Watch out for bikers- trails are narrow and winding in some spots so it is tough to see one another coming. You can very easily make your own variations on this trail that would take you about the same distance. Only think I would avoid next time is the part where it takes you out to Summit Ave and you have to walk on the side of the road for about 1/3 of a mile. Still blows my mind that a hike like this is in Philly.

Well kept trail, beautiful hike. Not very many markings, but the map I followed helped just fine!

Flowing water, covered bridges, uncovered bridges, lots of up and down hills, small waterfalls--what's not to like! Access to multiple trails so you can control how easy/hard and can always go down to Forbidden Drive for nice easy stroll if you've had enough of trails. Not always super well marked, but hard to get truly lost. Recommend especially if in Philly or nearby.

Fantastic trail with some amazing views! Well groomed trails, great for barefoot horses, but has some pretty steep inclines. I can’t wait to go in the fall!

Great solstice Hike!

Neat for the kids and dogs : )

We did the trail loop backwards by mistake-- if you see one red post if you look across the path there is another. Looking at the building at the end of the path, the counting up mileage is to the right (beginning of trail) and the left marker is the end (mileage counts down). We took the red trail, to the orange and yellow back to the red--which was said to be 8.9 miles and came out to be more like 10.5miles from my garmin watch (the last 1.5 miles was rough). The extra mileage would be fine except it's a lot of going up and back down, so if you have bad ankles and knees wear appropriate gear. I hike often but was mentally not prepared from reviews to go for this hike. There is limited shade (aka almost none) it was 86 without a cloud in the sky and was pretty toasty/hot-dress appropriately, bring sunscreen, snacks and tons water (my 3L pack got me just to the end). The views were nice, tons of birds singing, wild flowers and we got to see a fawn still with all its spots. Mountain bikers also use this trail and we almost got taken out by them zooming down one of the steep soon to be ups for us. We only heard the spokes on the wheels from the first biker to get off the trail-they had some speed and it definitely wouldn't have ended well.

Trail would be nice if it weren’t for all the graffiti and litter. A decent amount of people were around, and we were the only ones that actually leashes our dog. It’s a shame that others had to ruin the nature.

Had a fantastic hike with my younger brother just under 5 miles. We turned left at the start of the border trail and then continued on until we reached the covered bridge trail. We followed that trail until we got to the teal trail and took that back to where we started. It was differently an intense hike!! I workout 4-5 times a week and I was so thrilled to have my younger brother there to push me those last 15 mins or so. Especially when we hiked mostly uphill the last mile and it was hot!! We both took ticks off our necks almost immediately upon noticing them on our hike. It would have been easier if we took a break but we went straight through. It was beautiful. Truly breathtaking views!!

We started at Gate 5 and it was almost immediately a steep uphill climb from there going north. I like doing the uphills first so that was good! We followed the orange loop most of the way with a side trip on the green loop so we could see the witch's hat. Very enjoyable hike. Much was wooded and shady. The trails were well-marked with blazes on the trees and signs to help you when the trails went in different directions. We were surprised on the section of orange/blue to hit another very steep part of the trail. You're rewarded by views of the city of Reading when you get nearly to the top. Just turn around to look behind you to see the city. Took a little over 3 hours.

Not well marked out starting off. Followed blue and then yellow trail markers.
Lots of mud and washed out paths.
My dog loved it.
Cool graffiti and scenery.
Overall ok but maybe go when it hasn’t rained in awhile.
Take time to walk through the little town. Super cute and fun picture spots.

I love this place because of the cute little shops you can visit and the big rocks that you can hop across on the river. There’s an abandoned railroad bridge that is gated off from the world which is disappointing.

sometimes hard to follow; lots of elevation changes

This was an absolute perfect hike. Not to easy and definitely not to hard. Wildlife, spectacular views and not crowded. The app says no dogs allowed but that needs to be corrected.....dogs are definitely allowed here

Awesome views and scenarios. I completed the blue line and is short and easy. American bison and wildlife make a great experience.

Awesome hike. It had an excellent variety of grades and stunning scenery. Some parts were challenging, and the late spring heat during the day didn’t make it any easier. During the full 4 hours of the hike I didn’t see any other hikers. This is a very quiet trail. My only downside is around mile marker 6.5/7, the trail can become a muddy mess making it nearly impossible to continue without boots or sacrificing your shoes. This lasted for roughly 100 meters of just nasty mud. Other than that, fantastic!

Pretty good! I think the trail changed bc you can see a white arrow that gets blacked out, and an alternative route- so it may be different from the map outline shown on the app. From the stables, you follow the paved road for a bit, passing two yellow trail entrances, and finally hit a blue AND white entrance. Starts together, then separates

Spent today completing the entire border trail. Worked clockwise, from mile 9. It is May and the trees are still sparse, but so much of the trail is unshaded, so be prepared with sunscreen. And, because of this, it's likely a very hot trek in the summer. Several climbs were quite steep, but afforded stunning views.

It struck me how well the trail was marked. I never once had a problem following the red blazes until about a mile from my car. Just after the bison, it was hard to tell where the trail continued. Even after I determined that, it was difficult to see the exact path to follow. There is a bit of construction in the area, so that's probably the reason. Just follow your map or GPS carefully in this area.

Good hiking, some deep incline keeps the variety. But the trail markers are very poorly kept. Pretty hike, spots by the water are gorgeous. Plenty of areas for rest and to refill on water.
