Incredible the whole way, amazing views, beautiful day. Coming back we did get confused and we where lost for some time until a biker should us how to get back on track. I am no expert and could do it, but took me many hours to do the complete loop. Would definitely recommend it!

Great hike, not too hard but a decent workout. Some snow and ice at the top once near Snow Lake right now, if you have crampons on poles it’s not a big deal. The scenery was great, temperature wasn’t too cold, and not overly busy, worth the time.

So steep to start! Beautiful textures in the canyon, and the overlooks are great.

Added on after hiking Mt Storm King and it was a pretty lackluster waterfall compared to others in the area. Trail was crowded due to being an easier hike.

the scenery is gorgeous, the air smells like christmas candles as you climb. First 3/4 of the trail are easy slow climb, after that it turns into more intense switchbacks. Very snowy and slippery at the top, so wear appropriate footwear. If you have removable krampons or hiking poles I would suggest those for the top portion as I saw lots of people fall and almost fell myself a number of times. I even saw a lady with a sprained ankle being carried down by her husband. Bring lots of layers so that you can take off as you ascend and then put back on as you descend. This time of year when we got to the top at 2:10 the sun was already set on the lake so get an early start, aim to be at the top for noon. Amazing view, so worth it!

This is an incredibly special trail, though quite difficult in many areas especially for people like me afraid of heights! Particularly when the wind is whipping threatening to tear you off the rock face! Not for the faint of heart. Scenery is spectacular the entire trek. We went counterclockwise and at the bottom the sign reads: difficult, technical skills needed! One of the harder hikes, not moderate. Loved the excitement and beauty. Don’t miss this trail.

Winter wonderland! Don’t forget your spikes for the last half of the trail.

Must do if you are in the area! Nice loop trail with great views.

It took about 2h30m getting to the lake and 1h30m going down for my team. It was so windy at the lake while we got there (about 2pm).

Too many insects/bugs during hike.

Winter wonderland! Over a foot of snow everywhere! Make sure you bring micro-spikes and hiking poles. Some spots get very slippery. The most beautiful wonder hike I have done so far. (Oh and wear waterproof shoes)

Great hike along a river with plenty of smaller falls on the way. There was a downed tree on the trail when I went (11/09/18) about 1.6 miles in. It gets rocky in some parts, but overall fairly easy.

Was a long loop trail but so wonderful. Go counterclockwise at the loop.

this hike from trail head to lake only about 3 miles one way. easy and pretty.

If you can only do one hike, do this one. We took a left at the cow pie/hangover sign post, going counter clockwise around the trail. Bikes have to take the cow pie trail (right at the sign post) to get to hangover trail. I was glad to be heading towards bikers rather than having them come up behind us. The views are amazing. This is a challenging hike...not hard, but definitely on the more difficult side of moderate. It took us about 3.5 hours to do the 8+ miles. We weren’t hustling, but kept a decent pace.

This is quite fun if you like hopping from one rock to the next, but it’s not the best trail if you are just looking for an easy stroll. I liked it! A bit hard to navigate and there are several paths you can take...but it’s hard to get lost with a GPS.

LOVED this trail. Lots of scrambling, bouldering, and rock hopping. We paused many times to observe the beautiful rock formations, caves, tree varieties, fall colours and explore each area. My wife had our 7mo daughter on her back and managed to navigate fairly easily. It has challenging sections that follows the rocky creek bed but is very doable. The massive cave with falling water at the end was spectacular- pictures do not do it justice- it’s epic.

Favorite hike in Sedona. Awesome variation in ecology and amazing views on Hangover. A lot of the hike in ON the red rocks, which is very cool. Take plenty of water and good, grippy hiking shoes.

You need to be comfortable on smooth (generally not slippery or overly steep) rock faces and narrow trails near drop-offs, but it's not overly technical or arduous. Definitely recommend going counter-clockwise so you're going up the only rock faces that don't have switchbacks.

We arrived around 9 am on a Saturday in early November and were able to park in the lot, although it was definitely filling up.

Unfortunately there was too much water to cross one of the waterfalls that had developed due to the rain lately. We were one of four groups that doubled back. Seems like it would be beautiful based on the first 30 minutes though!

I’ve done this hike 6 times now. It has to be done on a beautiful day. Mid-summer is perfect as long as it’s clear. Training is important if you aren’t an avid hiker. Starting out at a slower pace helps make the whole hike enjoyable. Bring a large garbage bag to slide down the many trails. You’re on snow for about half of it.

Mild rock climbing to the most beautiful payout

Gorgeous views, especially on a clear fall day. It was pretty crowded on the trail, but we did go on a Sunday. Get there early if you can, the views are worth it! The lake is clear and worth the hike.

Beautiful views! Totally worth the hike up☺️

if you do one hike in sedona, this is it. 3.5 hrs of epic views and fun hiking. less people, easy to get to, good workout, not alot of elevation gain. the saddle for lunch is the best you will find.

One of the best hikes we have done. We parked at the split of Munds Wagon and Hangover. The road to get there is very rocky. We hiked the trail counter clockwise. The views are amazing! Got caught in a thunderstorm and had to seek shelter. Amazing to watch the water run off the rocks.

Well maintained easy trail with some steep steps nearing the top of the waterfall, signs say no dogs allowed but the ranger seemed happy to look the other way when we walked by with our dog on leash.

5 star review is exactly what this trail deserves. I hiked/ran it and loved the experience. October was really nice weather wise. Not cold and not hot. Great experience and good signage.

The fall colors were beautiful! May have waited too long as far as the weather goes, we were soaking wet and then coated with snow towards the top, made for a very cold day. Can’t wait to go back next Spring or Summer to see the changes.
Followed the advice of precious reviews and wore boots with good traction, very grateful we did.

Beautiful hike! Took about two hours. Great trail, some of the rocks can be a little loose or slippery tho so watch your step. The view at the top is beautiful and totally worth it! If going on a weekend, get there super early. Very popular trail. We got there at 8:30am and had no trouble parking but when we got back to the car later that afternoon, it was hard to get out of the parking lot. Absolutely packed and so was overflow parking.
