Just finished the hike and made it up to the top with little difficulty today. We started at the trailhead on the east side and connected to the dirt road. Went slow on the climb area as there is snow that's currently in the shaded area. The top of the rock is still without snow except for the far south side.

I’ve hiked this trail multiple times. Was virtually empty today. You do need micro spikes to stay safe on the ice.

Beautiful views on this trail! There is lots of ice on it right now but many ways to walk around it.

BE CAREFUL at this point. Mt Falcon trail (Castle Trail) is ok except for maybe 300’ of ice.

Returning on Turkey Trot, or going up Turkey Trot, involves thousands of feet (45 minutes) of hardpacked glass ice, even hard to manage in yak tracks.

This trail was perfect for me coming from where I live (low elevation, not many hills). The views aren’t spectacular but its convenient to Highland Ridge and I enjoyed winding between the scrub and little snow drifts. It was a bit muddy in places. Should have packed a bag for my boots and another pair of shoes to keep the car clean.

East trailhead Castle Trail up long switchbacks to Walker Ruins & Summer White Hse (great views west!) return Down Turkey Trot Trail north facing sections icey slush. 8am start, not too crowded mid week.Windy, layer up, gloves & ears. CMCDan,Nov 2 ,2018.

Hiked 10/29/2018 Castle Trail up to the Presidents Summer House. Beautiful views. Not too busy. Perfect weather and views. Easy to moderate. Great trail while acclimating to the altitude.

Steep uphill climb for the first half if you're coming form Morrison, but lots of switchbacks makes it easy. Once you're at the top, you'll get an awesome view of Denver and Red Rocks. We also saw tons of wildlife. Lots of options for castle and trail exploring, too. Really good place to take someone new to hiking or visiting the area because you can stay up there for hours or come down if they're not feelin' it. Get ice cream in Morrison after!

Well marked, well maintained trails. Some nice views and interesting ruins. A lot of side trails near the top, so you can make it a bit longer. Not too much elevation gain; kind of a mild trail. Not crowded this morning (Tuesday).

Our daily hike, I feel so fortunate to live here.

Nice steep incline to start and great views! Not crazy packed and met nice people along the way! I’ll be back because it’s only 27minutes from where I live in Denver!

I’m new to hiking, but this is a nice one. There are varying levels of terrain and steepness, and the view from the top of the rock is absolutely incredible. I HIGHLY recommend a climb to the top!

Easy hike cool that it’s close to red rocks can hear a little bit of music if something is going on there

Okay first of all it seems to me that some of the other reviewers don’t exactly understand the point of this little trail area. Yes you can ride down the easy way and in my opinion it is still fun although very simple for anybody who has been mountain biking more than a couple times. The real reason for this trail (or at least the way I use it) is training for the uphill battle you have to go through during most mountain bike rides before getting to the good part... the downhill. If you use this place properly and essentially treat it as an exercise trail and ride up the obstacle instead of down it is a great workout and a good way to get some practice on the more challenging aspect of mountain biking. As some people have said it is rather noisy being close to the highway which is forgivable with it being a short drive from my house and also with the sun blazing it can get very warm. This area is blasted by the sun just about all day long.

Close to the city. Short distance.

amazing views of the flatlands and mountains. gorgeous hike for so close to Denver. loved the history!

The historical ruins are very cool! Took a visiting family member from out of state and it seemed like a good fit for her while still adjusting to the altitude. Pretty crowded with lots of familes and dogs. No amazing vistas, but some decent overlooks and views to Red Rocks Amphitheatre. It's nice how all the little side trails connect so you can add or minus mileage as you like. Found the historical information and ruins to be the coolest part of the day.

Lots of variety.

An enchanted forest! Evergreens, lots of shade simply beautiful and good workout.

Very nice hike.

A bit crowded on a Saturday, and most of the trail is totally exposed so got pretty hot even in the mid-morning. No incredible vistas but decent views throughout. Ruins were neat.

Nice historical hike.

Great exercise- The incline was a bit difficult for a beginner like myself. We followed castle Trail the entire hike. During the incline of the trail rocky walkways, the remainder paths were pretty wide.

Pretty easy hike, you will in all likelihood pass some bikers and not so serious hikers on the route. Not a lot of views as someone else has said, but it's nice for after work or taking friends who are visiting to since it's short but still feels like a workout, close to Denver and there's the touristy Buffalo Bill grave at the top.

Did a little over half of the trail as part of what I hiked today. the Western trailhead is definitely the easier place to start if going all the way through, but I hiked from the Western trailhead to the Walker homestead ruins and then over to the Summer White House for a great scenic hike. I didn't get there until about 1000 so it was beginning to get hot. make sure you bring lots of water as much of the hike on the Western side headed east towards the meadow is exposed.

Great views, would definitely hike it again.

I love this hike. It’s close to Denver so it’s easy to get to quickly. The views are spectacular! Just wish there was some water.

This was a nice quick hike! We brought along our doggo and there were many shaded areas to stop and rehydrate.
