HikingGreat!

Even on weekends generally quite peaceful once you get away mile from Aptos Creek Road. Gentle climbs, narrow trail but easy to follow. Only one scenic vista along the ridge but zero complaints - the forest is magical.

Good trail very, rough gravel at times, steep incline at first but beautiful view of yellow flowers and beach at the end.

FishingFeeFloodedGreat!

Excellent hike. Beautiful views all the way. I went clockwise. Ridge then panorama then bluffs trail. AllTrails application failed through the hike. $10.00 cash for parking. Very friendly and helpful park ranger attendant at the parking lot. COLD WATER: At the beginning of the hike you must walk about 5 meters through shin-deep, ice cold river water. I didn't expect this, so I wasn't prepared with towel. I ended up doing the hike without socks. That was hard on the feet.

Muir Woods is a beautiful place with tall redwood trees, beautiful streams and small waterfalls however I wasn’t as impressed with the trees in Muir Woods because they aren’t as large and impressive as the redwood trees in Santa Cruz or lush as Crescent City. There is a bathroom with flushable toilets before you check in to Muir Woods. The trail starts off on a boardwalk through the forests and this is where the trail has more crowds. This section is flat and easy for kids. As you ascend upwards through the forests on a dirt and rocky trail, you will occasionally cross people. The trail ascends higher and higher. You will cross multiple bridges and climb multiple rocky or wooden stairs. Make sure you have your map on record, there is no internet out there and there are many trails and turns you have to be alert to. A battery pack would be helpful too.You will cross the highway a few times and even walk through a campground. I found the most boring part of the trail was the fire road. It is open, bright and rocky part of the trail that seems to not have a variety of scenery. You will come across a lot of mountain bikers on this section. At the top the ocean and the view of the Bay is Amazing. I was surprised to see a few hotel and inns along our trail. There was also a fire station and some fire lookouts to see too. The trail had many native plants, wildflowers, lizards, butterflies, birds and even some bees. You will also cross into Mt. Tamalpais State Park and the trail there is rocky and windy. More people tend to be there. They also have a restroom with flushable toilets. The views are nice and you walk around the lookout. Going back down you go on a fire road again and then to a more narrow trail that goes zig zag and around. *** About the last two miles of the hike, on the Canopy Trail (border of Mt. Tamalpais Park) the trail is CLOSED! We turned around and took the Lost Trail then the Fern Creek Trail to get back to Muir Woods where my car was parked.

Stunning ocean views, can be very crowded on the weekends, part of the trail is closed due to construction but still worth it!

Amazing. Fantastic views the entire time, varied terrain, not many people after mile 2. Can’t wait to come back again and again.

Nice overall. A bit long at the end walking next to farm land, but a good hike.

Great trail. So beautiful. Lots of people but must do. There is a piece that is shut down for construction but not a big deal on the day.

Can’t think of a more scenic trail and experience. Very beautiful. Wouldn’t really classify as hiking, more walking and well maintained. If I rated it would be easy.

Nice Sunny day. First 1.5 miles was all paved. Last 1.8 miles all paved. $5 to park in the parking lot, however, you can park on the side streets as well.
