I love this trail. It’s pretty steep for the first 1.5 miles but then levels off. The views are amazing!

More of a mountain bike than a hike trail. For hiking it’s pretty easy and very exposed. Not a tad of shade, so better for the winter months. Be aware of bikers.

Great hike with beautiful views! Would definitely do this trail again!

Very nice hike with beautiful views!

Such a beautiful hike with amazing views. I give it “two thumbs up”.

Easy, soft walk. It's like the neighborhood nature trail. Lots of botanical descriptions and courtesy signage. Great views. Exquisite homes surround the trailhead...

Family of five with three kids in elementary school had a blast on this hike. First mile is mostly up but then flattens out for second mile to Tom’s Thumb. Beautiful views and a well-maintained trail get two thumbs up ;)

Super awesome running trail! Great views!
We went counterclock-wise & started with the hills. Bring water!

Great trail and amazing views

Great trails in the park! Typical desert hike- bring plenty of water. There are lots of splits in the trail, and it's easy to end up hiking further than intended, and risking running out. Carry extra for your pups, too!!

Loved this trail. It is on the easy side of moderate, but this trail is not easy. There is some good elevation changes and some excellent scenery. The lower parts of the trail are pretty easy, but the later parts near the summit are where it because more difficult. Definitely worth checking out.

Great Hike. Well maintained trail all the way up. The steward at the top was very friendly and provide good info about the area. Took the dog with and had to keep him on the leash the whole time due to high traffic and previous reviews of snakes being more active near the trail.

Beautiful hike just an hour out of Phoenix. Uphill the entire way out, but it’s a well kept, smooth, dirt trail, so not too strenuous. Some steep cross-backs. No trees, so being water if it’s warm! Hiking among the pebbles of giants.

Pleasant hike if you don’t have a lot of time. ~1:40 roundtrip at moderate pace. Last 1/4 mile on way to turn around gets a tad steeper. Beautiful views of valley and some impressive homes.

This was good moderate to difficult trail, the only reason I would give it 4 vs 5 stars is that the end of the trail is down on the mountain and therefore pretty anticlimactic, but it does say that in the description so you know what you’re getting yourself in to. Great to trail run, good for kids & very well maintained!

Decent sized parking lot. The center at the trailhead does not have water, but they have restrooms.
The first 1.2ish miles of the hike are a good leg workout (pretty uphill) but the rest isn’t bad.

Great hike. Excellent views of the valley. Bring plenty of water. No water at trailhead.
Def worth the climb. Fair description of trail.

Easy to get to and parking is free. We entered on the Alma School Rd side and a nice trail center at the base there. Definitely a lot of hikers and joggers on the trail, most were courteous. Lots of switch backs, bring your trekking poles if you have trouble going down hill. Great views and places to rest, sit and take a picture. About 1.5 to 2 hours round trip depending on the number of rest/breaks. Have done this hike several time, the only thing keeping it from being 5 stars is the trail traffic.

Great trail. Moderate is perfect description. Summited right before sunset and while it was beautiful we really had to hoof it back down to beat the night setting in. So last mile was pretty dark. Would do again at sunset but descend on one of the western-facing trails.

Hiked this last Sunday 4/8. Great hike, but you MUST bring water especially if you start after 10 am and it's projected to be over 85 degrees out! Very uphill.

This was a tough hike. If you’re an avid runner and hiker, its a nice hike. This is considered moderate. However I’d say its definitely more on the difficult. Definitely got my heart rate elevated. The switchback is tough. A lot of incline and decline. Footing can be tricky as it does have some loose gravel and steep steps down. I’d suggest going to the half way point for those who are just starting out hiking or recovering from an injury. The views were beautiful and I did see several geckos and two Gila monsters. The park is free. Good parking. Kind of out of the way to find. Good bathrooms. Friendly hikers on the trail. The trail is well maintained, great markers too!

Yesterday I went only up. A lot of incline great work out. Was gonna do loop but decide to come back down. On warm morning and 1.3 mile incline is too much for me. Concern this as easy to moderate great sturdy rocks. Great view of Phoenix. Did total of 2.7 Miles

30 minutes flat, 40 minutes up to top

Baby owls were super cute! Did not realize it gets so hot quickly, we started our hike 9ish and it got too hot too soon

Beautiful views of the city. Stunning rock formations. Great trail but be ready to hike with lots of people! Very little shade.

Trail is well maintained. Moderate due to distance but no strenuous sections. Exposed so bring water if doing summer or midday.

Great workout and views! Loved it!

Didn’t see any dog poop that a few reviews mentioned. Bikers were courteous and I thought the trail was well- marked. Even without the All Trails app, I felt it the trail was very easy to follow and there were markers with M on them at places where the trail split.

It was hotter than we expected and I would definitely go earlier next time.
