Stony Brook trail to Blue Mountain. Stay on Blue Mtn. Real nice, pine trees, streams, not difficult. Turn right on Tinsley Trail (yellow) to Swenson (red) and Blue Mtn. and back to Stony Brook (brown). Overall nice, quiet hike, no hills. Took 3 hours.

One of the best blazed trails. The trail guide was a delight! He could tell you every detail. It was a bit muddy in some spots. Some really good views if you take the directions from the guide.

Always a joy!

11/2/18. South Mountain Reservation is almost in my back yard and I've hiked it very, very often, I had not however (until introduced to it by All Trails) ever hiked this particular combination. An easy 4.5 mile hike that can be done in approx 1.5 hours — one feels like a Parisien Boulevardier on 10' wide trails for most of the hike (with the exception of the Lenape trail which is narrower and twistier). Fall colors make it feel like a sepia photograph. As others have noted though, with the exception of the Lenape trail (yellow), it is VERY poorly marked and I don't recommend doing this without the GPS on in the All Trails app.

Awesome views. Lots of history took place along these paths. Great hike!

Beautiful scenery, tons of history, love it.

trails are marked but no signage at cross trails to make sure you’re moving towards your starting point.

Nice trail to kill a few hours at. Tripod Rock is always a cool little spot and there are a few views but they’re not particularly impressive. Some nice uphill hiking and the trail on the side of the reservoir are super refreshing.

I love reading people's reviews on what they see in the woods. It is the woods so you may see bear, snakes, deer, raccoons etc. You may even get bitten by bugs as well. Expect it, be prepared or just stay home. Anyway i was hesitant to do this hike because of the lame views but decided anyway because its not far from home. The views are very lame in fact. Lucy's overlook has too many trees in the front of it and the high tension wires at other vistas take away from the charm. At 4 or more miles much better vistas can be found at a shorter distance near by at other trails. Just my opinion of Pyramid Mountain is don't understand all the hype.

Great family hike!! 5 miles
Well marked, Wear boots, Very muddy! After a little rain.
Red stripe trail is a 100ft walk down a rocky trail. Walking sticks will come handy.

This Park is so nice,You can expend hours of pure Nature Contact. Big Trees, creeks, nice trails, well marked. overall You will enjoy your visit.

Overall good hike but it does cross through a swap which gets muddy after a rainy day.

Well marked. Easy and moderate trails. Alongside the lake. Not too isolated or crowded.

Nice hike except you can hear the traffic on Rt 287 the entire time.

Stony Brook trail to App. trail then back via Tower trail. lots of streams and wide trails along stony brook. Up the mountain was steep and the climb down was treacherous. Overall all moderate to difficult. Good loop.

Very organized and clear view. I enjoyed this trail with my girlfriend and my hike buddies. Watch out for the descending rocks and deep mud. Very fun hike

The trail has clear marks and some interesting boulders. The level is relatively easy.

Too many people in the beginning. Awesome chicken of the woods mushrooms. Brightest and biggest we have ever seen.

I loved this trail. not crowded and off leash dogs aren't a problem.

I am posting this on my husbands trail page, loving wife Cathy! My husband and I set out to do this trail Sunday. This was my first real trail I have ever done, he is experienced and very much enjoys hiking. Over all I feel that I did really good we walked 4.59 miles and the inclines were pretty hard for me at times but like I said this was my first time. I can’t wait to get out and try another one.

nice trail, moderate. bring bug spray.

It’s all alongside the highway, if you were able to see the view more it would be nice. The coolest part about the hike was that I ran into a snake

nice mix of easy and moderately difficult. will go again for sure

Despite what others have said the trail as marked on this map does not go near the ruins of the ice house. If this is what you came to see look to the map titled White Lake Loop Trail.

Although well maintained and clean this loop is somewhat mediocre. A small parking area is across the road from the trailhead. It begins on an unpaved drive then loops back through the woods.

Not much to see unless you diverge from the map, but access to the historical site is much easier from the parking lot at the lake. Manageable for most skill levels.

Nice trail and outing with the family. Just enough adventure for the littlest hiker. Not a lot of views, but great wooded trail for the kids to explore.

The pyramid mountain trail system is really beautiful. The trails are well marked and neatly groomed, and there are varying levels of terrain for hikers of different ability. It's perfect for hiking and snowshoeing. That being said, please be aware that there are copperhead snakes present in the area. Obviously this is not the park's fault or responsibility, hikers are guests in the wildlife's home. We were so focused on keeping an eye out for foxes, bears, and deer that snakes didn't even come to mind and our puppy got bitten by one. We got him to the animal shelter for an anti-venom treatment ASAP, and he's going to be okay. I just wanted to make people aware of something I stupidly didn't think twice about.

Full Moon Hike with REI on the yellow/white/blue trail to Tripod Rock in downpour rain. As a beginner hiker there were moments of intensity but overall excellent terrain and vista. Would love to do it again if only to see the moon without an overcast sky and rain. :)

trail running

went to this place to trail run. the terrain is a bit tough for trail running, I couldn't get any momentum built up because of all the rocks, tree roots, and rock scrambling. definitely not for trail running if you want to run fast, but definitely a decent hike if you're in the area. wouldn't go out of my way for it though, the views are lame and there wasn't that much to see. the balancing rock was pretty cool to see

Trail was well marked and had some good hill climbs and decents. trail was clear of overgrowth and fallen trees, easy to navigate, especially with the AllTrails map. the peak was a little lame, no view that I saw, and I didn't see the ruins. decent veiw at the top of the power line section. bugs were horrendous, spider webs, gnats, mosquito, and biting flies, but it was mid July and recently rained so it's just that season. the water fall was pretty cool, would have liked to hang out at the water fall a bit longer but had to keep moving because of the bugs swarming my head

Very fun hike but it would have been impossible without GPS and the AllTrails app, because there are almost no markings on the trails. Even with GPS and the AllTrails app, finding our way was difficult at times. Sometimes we would just start walking where the trail was supposed to be and it would eventually materialize. That said, while South Mountain Reservation is often crowded, we were hiking alone, which was great, on much of this route — probably because no one else knows about or can find it. Interestingly, the trails themselves are mostly in pretty good condition, so someone is clearly handling the upkeep — just not the markings.

Our dog loved it!
