Trail closed for maintenance, August 7-30. Barricaded at the trail head, don't attempt.

Great trail! Pretty busy today with hikers and back country campers! Super dog friendly! Steady incline throughout until the end it gets a bit steeper. Super beautiful scenery and river / falls all along the way! Loved this hike!

Gotta take the difficult path for sure! Wasn’t too bad for how smoky it is! Loved it!

This is my absolute most favorite hike! Tons of scenery throughout the whole way which helps you not focus on the inclines throughout the entire way. You will not be disappointed!

I did this hike last weekend with 1 expert hiker (who had done this hike many times before), 2 moderate hikers, and 3 novices (who had never been in scree or summited a mountain before). It was great for all skills levels, BECAUSE we had an experienced guide with us. If no one in your hiking party has done this hike before, I strongly advise completing some research beforehand, especially for the scree field locations. There are a couple scree-runs that end at the top of a cliff.

Although we didn't have too much visibility due to the smoke, it was a beautiful hike. I'm personally very scared of heights, but found the hike doable since I had hiking poles (helps with vertigo) and a harness and PAS for the chains section.

It took us about 5 hours in total, with lunch at the summit. Highlight for the majority of us was running down the scree.

Love this hike!!

Can anyone tell me if you need a park pass for this trail? Will delete this after I possibly get a response :) thank you!!

Wonderful hike in Canmore! The lakes were blocked off for reclamation so we weren’t able to find the petroglyphs. We went earlier in the morning so it wasn’t crowded at all. Adorable benches, bridges, waterfalls and beautiful views.

Absolutely phenomenal views of Mount Smuts, Mount Birdwood and Mount Fist. One of the most spectacular views I've ever seen in a day hike. Highly recommend. A little bit of exposure at the first climb to the left ridge but definitely pretty mild. Can't wait to do it on a non-smokey day!

Great hike! We planned to do the difficult hike up and the easy back but ended up doing the hard hike both ways due to a bear on the easy path. The hard hike has some very steep sections but the waterfalls and views are well worth it!

Amazing hike, very heavily trafficked, lots of people. Little disappointed that the lake section was closed off. Went up by the Pipeline to hang for a snack. Took easy route up, hard down. Found the hard way down was easier than going up. Would do this one again.

Definitely one of the coolest hikes I’ve ever done! It was reaaaaally smokey but we got some good shots still! When you find the parking lot, definitely start with the trailhead on the LEFT. I would not want to do the loop starting on the right. Cant wait to do it again when there’s isn’t so much smoke and we can see all the mountains!

I've done this hike many times. it is satisfying for all skill levels. great views and a very short drive from Calgary.

Steep hike through out. went to lake and went back which took 4.5 hours at a steady pace. patches of gravel and boulder crossings. lake scene is worth it.

Very nice hike

A steel climb capped off by some amazing 360° views of the surrounding area. The hike has a good variety of terrain - from wooded forest to mountain top Alpine. The top of the hike gets a bit steep and rocky which makes it a but slippery, so make sure you bring good hiking boots.

Did this one yesterday! Good for all levels. Awesome trail with awesome view. A bit crowded.

this was a great first day hike in Banff. did this last Saturday before all the smoke came in and saw a grizzly bear and her two Cubs! we took the trail over to lake Agnes on our way back which was a lot less crowded.

Good hike, gets challenging higher up but doesn't take too long to get to the peak. It is busy so you have to stop to let people past on the narrow parts but I enjoyed it :)

We joined up with this hike after starting at lake Agnes/big beehive. The trail offers some really beautiful views and the teahouse is fun, but the crowds take something away from the experience. I found myself getting a bit frustrated by lines of super slow hikers, especially on the way down. Definitely worth doing the hike - just be prepared to be patient if you're used to a quicker pace and a quiet trail

Amazing hike with breathtaking views. I would not recommend doing this hike without poles. I also wouldn’t recommend bringing larger dogs as it would be difficult to cross the chains.
It was a challenging hike but completed with 5 hours at a moderate pace with lunch on the summit. Definitely don’t do this as your first hike of the year.

Not a very rewarding hike to say the least. The amount of incline and distance you have to travel was not worth the views of either lakes.

Awesome hike to do with the family. We took a 6 year old & two 3 year olds on the difficult trail and they loved it. Lakes at the end are all closed off though for reclamation, so not much to do or see once you get to the top.

Strenuous but amazing hike with great panoramic views, especially at the top. First hour of switchbacks is the toughest part followed by a lovely walk through the Larch Valley. Take your time going up the final section and you’ll be rewarded with jaw dropping views at the top of the pass.

Vraiment une belle petite randonné avec une petite fille de 7ans !!

Amazing reward for a hike that doesn’t take very long. Took about 2.5 hours to ascend at a brisk pace. 1.5 hours coming back. The views from the top are incredible.

great hike. Did this may long weekend, so many places had avalanches and it was hard to pass. the last avalanche shoot we couldn't pass it was really steep and we had no equipment to get safely across as it was step, slippery, and scary!

Was amazing trail nothing impossible to hike. Just take your time to get to the top and do not bring heavy stuff in your backpack.
