I’m just starting to get into the world of hiking & camping, this was the first trail on my list & I really enjoyed it! I decided to go in the late afternoon (started hiking around 5) & enjoyed really nice shady areas & beautiful views of the mountains during the second half of the hike. There’s a ton of beautiful greenery & wild flowers/plants, & also ran into a few lizards along the way. The inclines & declines are nothing to be worried about, just be prepared to take a bunch of pictures. I recommend taking the narrow road down towards the larger parking lot, as the incline up after you’re done would be a brutal trek to your car. As a beginner, this hike was nothing too difficult. I will definitely come visit this trail again soon!

This is the best hike I’ve ever been on! It was so beautiful, you see everything from a stream, huge rocks, wildlife (we saw a huge snake on the trail) AND there’s a bunch of shade. Not to mention, we only saw about 4 different groups the whole time we were on it, which was a Saturday. It was a little hard to find at first but man, id recommend this trail to anyone!

Easy and very nice. Rock, woods, very small rivers... A variety if elements to enjoy. The ride. Excellent for kids that will trigger their imagination.

we met up slightly after the sunrise for a relatively cool hike, despite the season. The beginning of the trail is paved, but quickly hits dirt. The trail eventually finds sanctuary from the sun as the canyon narrows. It’s a pretty easy trail, and I recommend it for any beginner looking to lengthen their hike. the area by the mine is nice and shaded. The hike to the mine is relatively short, extend it for the full sunset loop trail.

Hope you enjoy!

Started from Big Tujunga Cyn road, as the gate to the trailhead was locked. Started out at 7:20 AM. It was dry, but very beautiful vistas the whole way. I rate this trail intermediate. Sun hit me at 8 AM where the trail is high on the ridge. Took some pictures of the falls and back to my car at 9:20. Al in All, a really awesome hike.

Great trail, although a little overgrown. The atmosphere shifts several times throughout the hike, keeping it surprising and interesting. BRING: bug spray, the mostly-fired river bed is a mosquito haven. Also, perhaps booties for your dog too - as the asphalts the summer (it was 96 out) on the way back will burn their paws.

Beautiful

Definitely on the easier side of moderate but a very nice morning hike. beginning is a mix of shaded and exposed sections of trail with light incline criss-crossing dry river beds which is expected in mid July.

Wonderful ! Most of the hike is under beautiful trees. There’s only like 15 minuets under the sun. The water is cold and perfect for the summer

Great family trail, lots of shade, cool for summer time.

Nice hike with the younger kids...

Dog owners don't pickup after their dogs. There is homeless encampment within the park. Coyotes occasionally seen roaming the area.

it was a nice little hike but not much water this time plenty of shade and friendly people

Great trail on a hot day. Lots of shade. Lots of water. Many cautious mountain bikers. Just a few bozos.

A fun little trail with a few stream crossings that's easy to get to and easy to follow. The best part is that a majority of the trail is in the shade, perfect for a summer morning hike! Get there early because parking is quite limited and you need an adventure pass.

This was the first hike I’ve ever done so I am an out of shape BEGINNER. Took me about 2 hours to get down to the waterfall. Don’t be intimidated by the rope assist to get to the base of the waterfall. I was able to do it with a bit of effort. Not a lot of water but it was so worth getting down there. I really enjoyed this hike and will definitely return.

This is a great trail if you like some challenge. It is very narrow at points. Lots of nature, mostly shaded.

Fantastic trail, mostly shade. Get there early cause parking lots fill up.

small trail that goes through campground to waterfall

I remember I went there few years ago by spot at this area. It was nice and pretty long trails 

Loved this trail but I guess I didn’t make it to the end so next time I’ll come back with hubby so we both finish it love it will be coming back ❤️

This is a nice low impact hike. Very kid friendly.

Great hike! 4 hours with a lunch and some breaks in June. The trail was poorly marked but if you follow the river bed it will lead to the mine. An out and back just to the mine will save you a lot of elevation but the rest of the loop is very scenic (follow the river bed to the left of the first shack)! We saw two entrances to the mine, the lower was easy and the upper entrance was straight up a rock scramble about 25 feet. The top mine has a very deep visible tunnel. The river was very low and dry in some places.

I did this hike with my family including my 3 kids. They were brave and finished the hike, which was tiresome on the return because of the incline. Alot of poison ivy and some small snakes along the way. Weather was great, and trail was busy for the most part.

Great hike. my kids loved it and my dog enjoyed it aswell. Hike wasnt to hard. There is shade for most of the hike.

Great hike in the summer. The tree cover makes it cool. But watch for poison oak of the trail.

One of the best hiking trails! part of the trail is shadowed the other part is up and down but so narrow! just keep in mind you need to purchase a daily pass before you get there if not you might got a ticket! have hiking shoes because all half of the trail you have water and you need to cross the water but thew view and the waterfall is amazing!

**I did not buy an adventure pass and had no problems**

Great trail! Began hike Saturday at 6:45 a.m. with one other car in the parking area-returned to 7 more cars at 9:15. Still, definitely a lightly traveled trail-saw 4 or 5 other hikers on the path. Not much incline (most of it approaching the falls) so I’d say this is easier than other “moderate” trails. Saw a rabbit and plenty of birds, lizards, bugs, hummingbirds, and tadpoles. Great views of the mountains from the floor of the canyon. Fine for dogs. Nice picnic area about 3/5 of the way to falls. Falls itself is definitely pretty, although not a ton of water in late June.

Short, beautiful, oak-shaded trail to a waterfall. Rated easy, but I would not wear flip flops or take my grandmother on this hike: uneven terrain, some uphill. But if you're somewhat prepared and in shape, well worth doing.
