I have probably done this trail 10 times. It is so easy for me to get to from my house and is the perfect distance if you only want to go out for 4 hours.

I used this trail as a training hike for a high-altitude hike in California, and it worked beautifully. I have done it in the warmth of summer and the light snow of late autumn to test my winter hiking gear.

This is a great into hike to the fabulous hikes of Little Cottonwood Canyon with amazing views and an awesome lake to have lunch at before heading back down.

Hiked at sunrise on 11/15, went counter clockwise. I would say about 85-90% of the trail was a nice snow pack and easy to walk on but there were some big snow drift spots. Didn’t have any issues with ice and slipping. Wall lake was the only lake not completely ice and snow covered. Looking forward to returning after winter.

I hiked this on Tuesday. The trail was quite muddy and slick. The lake is frozen and covered in snow. Beautiful little rainbows reflecting in the snowflakes. I passed 5 people on the trail. It took me 3.25 hours.

I got plastered by artificial snow makers trying to find the trailhead by the Brighton Ski resort, but once found it was a great hike! It was fairly quick, even with the snowfall on the ground. I loved skipping rocks on the frozen lake and hearing those cool Star Wars noises.

Went last weekend to hike this trail. We started around 8:30/9:00. There was snow throughout the entire trail, but it wasn't too bad for the most part. Mid-way through the hike, there was some deeper snow and you lose the trail a little. But it's pretty easy to use All Trails app to find your way through this tiny part and get back on the trail. SO gorgeous this time of year! And the snow melted as the day went on - making the trail easier to see.

Gorgeous views, lakes, waterfalls, everything a great backpacking trip consists of! Wow!!! Breathtaking!

Did this trail yesterday, it hard to follow the trail with the recent snowfall and quite slippery due to icy areas, but worth the challenge and inspiration for capturing both visually and mentally the solitude of this area. Simply beautiful.

This trail was amazing!
made my legs burn but so worth it!

Wow! First weekend in November and a perfect day to Hike. Last Mile had about 5 or 6 big switchbacks and took a little longer getting up that part, but so worth the view.

Great hike, really beautiful. 3-6 inches of snow and lightly snowing all day. Well worth the uphill climb.

Very pretty trail. Mountain biked the loop in 2 hours including some very muddy sections that need to be walked.

This is a fabulous drive that any 4wd can handle. It’s narrow and rocky, but nothing technical. The views are beautiful on both sides of the Wasatch range. I was impressed by how many campgrounds are spread around near the trail. I can’t wait to come back for some summer camping.

Beautiful trail. Definitely would recommend poles, snow and ice for a solid mile. Would rate this overall as moderate if not for the snow. Only a steep incline for about a mile. Almost made it to upper lake, but snow got a bit too deep without poles. Will be heading back to do again - awesome trail!

Great trial, especially in the winter. I'm 50+ and it is hard though.

very beautiful scenery all the way around. It is a moderate Trail. but it is beautiful

no snow, ice, or even mud as of 10/25. gorgeous sunset. need a headlamp this time of year if going after work.

By far one of my favorite trails in the area.

Well established trail, fantastic views of Little Cottonwood, the trail gets pretty steep on the approach to Red Pine. If your feeling adventurous continue past the lake up to a few lakes higher in the valley and get an amazing view of Pfiefferhorn. Went in late September, it got pretty cold and windy higher up. If you do go to the upper lakes, some of them might be dry, but Upper Pine is a worthy sight, one of the most beautiful Wasatch Lakes in my opinion.

Nice hike and surprised to find it completely snow covered in late October. The snow made it even more fun, and the trail was still easy to follow.

Excellent trail, remarkable tree, beautiful experience even though most of the color is gone from the trees. (Oct 20) Hiked this but will definitely be back for a trail run! Started at 9:15 am, about 6 cars in parking lot, didn't see a soul until we had been at the tree for a while, but passed about 15+ on the way down. Hunting season, heard one gun shot, saw 4 hunters, one doe, 3 bikers, 1 runner, 2 miniature resin houses sitting on a mossy rock at the spring.

Snow and slippery conditions after about 1.2 miles up. Microspikes recommended. Mucky mud too, but it was only really bad in a couple of spots. Winter is coming! Still a great hike, lovely view of the pines topped with snow much of the way up. Walking slower since I didn't have spikes, it took me 2 hours up and 1 hour down with a short break at the overlook. Also, it actually just under 5 miles round trip, not 4.1 miles from the description.

We hiked this Saturday up to probably .25 miles from the top. It was a beautiful trail and great exercise! The last mile was all in snow that at times got up to a foot deep. I would say it’s still hikeable but it’s freezing at the top! I would take some good sweats, waterproof shoes, and gloves are a must. No one had hiked to the point we had got to though, so I think we were still on the trail, but it was beautiful! The point we had got to and back was closer to 11 miles verse 9 though... perhaps this next week will melt a little of the snow and make it still hikeable- I definitely want to try this one again!

So I did this hike today (OCT 14th) with my wife. It was snowing when we pulled up to the lot but we decided to trek on anyway. The views were beautiful. We saw a total of 6 deer (although two of them may have been the same ones just several hours apart). We also saw a moose. The going got tough towards the top because the last mile or so is about .6 mile elevation. Investing in some spikes for the shoes is probably a great idea. Some gaiters are probably not a bad idea but hiking poles definitely help to probe the snow. The lake was frozen and it was gorgeous. I forgot my sunglasses so when the sun came out the snow kinda hurt my eyes! Some hikers that were there before us said the route up to Pfeiferhorn was too tough because the snow was too deep. Overall great trail. Easy to follow.

This was a really fun trail. I took my Wrangler up recently and enjoyed the varied types of trail, from rutted dirt, high-banked corners, to super rocky roads, it was a little bit of everything. Definitely not for a non-4x4, but it wasn't difficult, it was just really fun. The Jeep loved it and handled it like a dream, as I imagine most competent off-road capable cars would. The view up top was pretty amazing. I would definitely recommend this trail.

Moderate climb to get to Lake Mary, but well worth it. We did this about 3 weeks ago when the colors were turning and it was absolutely breathtaking. If you have the time, hike around to the backside of the lake which is less crowded - you can keep going on <0.5 miles more and you will hit the second lake. Beautiful hike, though tends to be popular and a little overcrowded at peak times.

This isn’t too bad. Only hard for about a mile. If you do this hike though, you might as well go one more mile to pfeiferhorn in my opinion though. :)

It is not lightly trafficked July, August
