absolutely gorgeous. after a set of switch backs, you follow a stream all the way up to the falls which offers a nice tranquil sound for the entire hike. You also see some amazing views of the mountains throughout. The hike is fairly challenging in a few places! younger children probably wouldn't be the best to bring here, but older kids would be okay. One of the best hikes I've done!

Amazing views all the way up. Missed peak fall by a week. Trail wasn’t marked very well but it looked like all variations lead to the same point. Phone was at 1% couldn’t record down.

My favorite trail so far for Autumn colors, I went with my friend on Sunday. Very friendly trail as well enjoyed seeing everyone out with their dogs and children. Everyone greeted one another and said good morning.

First time to Ogden. We wanted to see a little bit of autumn since we live in the Vegas desert. We did this hike with my 10 year old daughter and 5 year old son. We loved it! Beautiful foliage and the 2nd half of the trail was covered in marigold colored leaves and red leaves. The last stretch what some what difficult for the 5 year old given the steepness and all of the rocks but he made it to the top. Great trail for dogs. Can’t wait to come back and bring your husky.

We loved this trail!! It is fairly easy the whole way. The steepest part is right at the begin where there was a little bit of snow, not much more than an inch and the rest of trail was very good. You get to the end and Ruth Lake is so so gorgeous! Not a long time commitment and so wonderful!

Pretty mellow hike. Nothing too steep and there are so many beautiful places to stop and admire the wonderful scenery.

Beautiful creekside trail especially in the fall. It is moderately challenging if you are not in shape. I personally love this hike and repeat it quite often.

Good backpacking starter trip for the young kids.

Nice quick hike trail. I had my two dogs but the trail is pretty skinny at some parts so we kept moving out of people's way. Trail is moderately flat for the beginning then goes up a bit then down again. The climb back up isn't terrible and the bottom by the stream is beautiful. Was there a few weeks ago and there was still a solid amount of fish (most alive but some where dead as it's getting to the end of the season). Lots of people at the bottom but you can keep hiking down to find more solitude.

Beautiful hike!! Today the snow was about a foot deep on one section of the trail, but we were able to follow others' footsteps and really enjoyed the hike. It took us a little over two hours.

Unable to hike now due to snow. I’m sure this hike is wonderful, but just wanted this review to be on here so people know the condition of the trail.

Beautiful falls

this was a great trail.

This is one of my all time favorites! Definitely a two-nighter to enjoy it! Very busy on the weekends! Start the summit very early, thunder and lightning storms come from out of nowhere in the afternoon!

Really awesome trail and amazing views. My opinion, this is hard rated. Pretty much 1000 ft in a mile. They have horsetail falls rated hard on here that’s a mile longer and about 600 ft per mile. Especially since you start at like 10,500 ft, so you’re kinda winded from the get. Really cool though and the lower loops are awesome too.

Short, sweet trail in great shape.

Beautiful trail with fall colors this time of year. The trail is dirt packed and slightly damp from the cool weather with lots of fall color leaves on the ground. Getting to the overlook is fun with some pretty easy switchbacks, but be sure to keep hiking till you get to the wooden bench and don’t stop early despite the trail map. The views from the overlook are gorgeous with a great mountain view and city scape. The dogs and I had a great hike!

Good hike, nice views. Lots of Fall colors. Moderate hiker traffic and horseback travel.

Trail is a nice trail, packed dirt. Went on 10-5-18, and fall colors are amazing. the view at the end is well worth the hike. stunning overlook views throughout the hike. Took parents who are in their 50s and not acclimated to the elevation and they were able to make it the whole hike (they are in decent shape though). Took us 1.5 hours to get to the top at a slowish pace and 45 minutes to get back down at a quick pace. From car and back, my phone tracked the entire hike at 5.59 miles.

We went to perfect timing with fall leaves and weather. At the top (waterfall) , it can get cold so we were glad we had a good jacket (next time I will bring gloves for my kids hand). Good thing we had a friend who knew exactly where to find the location, it can get little tricky off HWY 89. We started to hike around 3:30pm and were able to catch the sunset by 7pm. It is dog friendly but little kids may need help to go all the way. Even if you don’t go all the way, it is fun to bring family there. I was told every season this hike is different. Probably not in mid summer where it can get really hot (unless hiking in the early morning). Can’t wait to return back again.

Single wide trail. Definitely moderate. Hard work for young kids.
We missed the Salmon by two weeks. Next year we will make it a priority to be here mid September.
Beautiful colors and spectacular views.

This hike is always a fun short hike to do! It gets you out of the house and gets some cardio in with the incline. Plus at the end you can see over the Ogden valley and not to mention the waterfall! The best time to go is once the snow is melting because the rub off makes the waterfall huge! It’s beautiful! You’ll enjoy it for sure!

Even in the fall there is actually an impressive waterfall at the end of the trail. Definitely a hiking trail. The last half is shaded. Great trail over a lunch break or just after work.

Too many people are leaving their dog shit in small plastic bags along the trail. Come on people! Do you think that the city hires someone to cleanup after you and your k9?

Many lakes and a couple great view points. An easy-moderate hike that gives you a good taste of the Uintas

Bring a change of socks if you don't want squish foot. This is worth the climb.
