Amazing 3 hour round trip hike with beautiful views! The hike is not crowded, fairly shaded, and adventurous (but not scary compared to other ridge hikes on the island). The stairs at the end are steep, so I would not suggest the hike after rain; check the weather report before you make the journey.

Took me under 2 hours to complete, trail is easy with some moderate spots. would recommend to anyone. park closes at 6:45pm

This was the first trail we took our dogs on and it went really well. Definitely be aware that there are hogs in this area if you are bringing dogs. The path is nicely traveled but not to busy. We arrived around 9am and completed around 11:30am. There are a few sections that are close to the edge and it was a tad slippery but other than that great hike.

Easy family-friendly hike. Pretty waterfall at the top. Muddy even when it isn’t raining, like a lot of trails on Oahu.

This may have been my favorite hike I've done on Oahu so far! It's pretty tough (nearly uphill the entire time, some steep and hot parts at the top) without being dangerous like some of the other ridge hikes. There are people on it without it being overwhelming. And the vegetation changes to the top are fascinating. The view is unbeatable. You are looking down into Waimanalo over to Bellows and Kailua, and you can see south all the way back to Koko and even Diamond Head. It's not an easy hike, but so worth it!

For someone as out of shape as I am this hike wasn’t that difficult. It can be really steep in some spots but it levels out, the views? Incredible. You have a view of the H3 and it makes the hike well worth it, some reviews say the hike is close to 6 miles well that is inaccurate. It is in fact close to the 4.2 miles like the sign says. The trail is trafficked and everyone we passed was friendly and uplifting- we saw several kids doing it too so if they can do it- you can too!!

Very easy going down. The way back up is slightly exhausting though. Make sure to go after a big rain, we went today and the waterfalls were all dried up. There was a small pool of water that some people were swimming in, but this hike is only worth it if the waterfall is flowing. The trail will be very muddy if the waterfall is flowing, if it’s dried dirt you probably picked the wrong day.

This is trail information from/to the second waterfall (passing the first waterfall). There are as many as 10 waterfalls I read but we were just interested in the second waterfall. Super muddy. Trail is hard to follow as the markers change colors but we used pink in the beginning and green towards the waterfalls (descending the mountainside). The waterfall was trickling as the weather has been kinda dry this weekend. Slippery and muddy in some areas but definitely a hike for most peoples and some four legged friends. Be careful crossing the freeway!

We entered from Koolau Golf Course. Muddy but fairly easy and short hike to the falls. If you continue up instead of going to the falls, you will end up on Old Pali Road that can take you up to the Pali Lookout... If you want to go that far. If you want to do that, when you get to a T, go left, then when it looks like you can go left or right, go right, hugging the mountain and you will shortly end up on the road. you can see the road below when you are supposed to take the right hand trail. Be prepared for rain and use mosquito repellant.

This’s a decent hike. Way too many people on it trying to catch the Sunset leaving very little Realestate to call your own unless you arrive super early. Head lamp is helpful if you’re going up and it’s still dark outside. After watching the sunset we continued on and around to the other end of the trail. It’s difficult going down and so pray it’s dry or hasn’t rained a few days. The views are beautiful.... But the hike is okay and a decent workout going up and down the trail with decent views.

Pretty ridge hike with amazing vegetation changes. The trail is marked in places where the footpath is unclear by ties on trees or paint. The trail is easy-moderate until you pass the grove of pines and picnic tables. Avoid this hike if it rained-- descending some parts would be dangerous and undoable if slick with mud. Otherwise, this is a safe hike with no treacherous points.

The best part of the hike is the last leg, where the green vegetation, blue sky, and red dirt take on high contrast, psychedelic colors. You'll catch views before and behind you once you reach the top. We completed this hike in about 2.5-3 hours. No crowd on weekdays. Overall a beautiful and rewarding hike.

Was really muddy

Gorgeous sunrise views!! Very crowded in the mornings so make sure you come EARLY to get parking if you want to see the sunrise. First lookout is maybe 15 min in and the dawn view is already good from there if you want to stop at that point and just chill.

Great 2-hour hike! Went on a Wednesday at around 1400 and saw only about a dozen or so other hikers/runners. Mostly dry, minimal mud, lots of shade and tree cover. Definitely coming back to do it again before I fly home!

yo to be honest is the easiest hike I've done in hawaii even if you're a inexperienced hiker it migth be a bit slippery but still good hike, very short and great views

Hard, but worth every bit of sweat!

Nice trail that can be connected to other trails to make it a loop.

Great hike, with beautiful views! Short and to the point. Try to start the hike prior to 9 am and you won’t be cooked out by the sun. Easy to get to and there is parking. Easy to miss the trail when driving it’s located about 9 light poles from the last intersection you turn on. Enjoy!

I would say this is tougher than the rating but only due to the fact I carried about 30+ extra pounds on my back (baby+carrier). The “waterfall” wasn’t anything really worth the trip today but the view overall is amazing. The hike was up and down challenging and was a good workout overall. I’m sure there’s more of a waterfall when there’s more rain but not on a day like today.

It’s a great hike with great views! Be sure to take water because it can get very hot.
The hike can be done as an out and back or a loop by continuing past Pillbox #2 and hiking the ridge. The trail will dump you out on Luika Place. CAUTION!!! The trail gets really steep and narrow, the last 1000 feet or so. If it recently rained, forget about going as the trail will get slick and muddy.

It is a great hike that gives you an amazing view of Waimānalo and if you look back you can see town. Bring water because it can get hot if it is a sunny day. When you get close to the top there isn’t as much shade also.

Nice, well maintained trail but very muddy towards the end. Recommend clocking your milage because you can walk for over a mile and not see anyone. Also, recommend not starting later than 4 pm as there are places the trail gets very dark due to the wooded areas

I hiked this short trail to the waterfall with my 10mo. Old on my back... it is slippery and very muddy if it has been raining (as usual) loved it. Great accomplishment for the kiddos.

worth it! not anyone there with us when we got there. mostly up hill but super easy

This was a challenging hike for me, but in a great way. It was my first “long” hike. It is more than four miles though for sure. My fitness watch registered 6.8.
The trail is very clear, and at some places narrow and steep, and if it has been raining the mud is something fierce. The views at certain spots are phenomenal. Bring lots of water and maybe a snack because like I said, it’s a long one. It took my inexperienced self around three and a half hours total. As others have mentioned PARK NEAR THE CAMPGROUNDS PARKING LOT. The incline from the exit of the trail up to the higher parking area is STEEP and not great after a 6-7 mile trek.
