Great day today to snowshoe this loop. Did it clockwise. Snowshoes were a must have after the falls. Only one set of snowshoes in front of us so lots of trail breaking. Beautiful views over the top at the look out and coming down. No wind until coming down made it nice. Lots of fun butt sliding and laughing on the steep sections. Ice on the cliffs were huge. Not recommended for beginners.

Nice trek, even in winter. Some ice but plenty of rocks and roots to keep traction. The Pine Hill Trail up was great and is a work of art!! Wish I had some skis for the way down.

easy, Cold.

Amazing hike up Mount Watatic, a little strenuous but a very nice view from the peak. You can even see the Boston Skyline from the top of the second peak

Good hike. Do-able for smaller kids when the weather is good and there's no ice.

trail running

Went out for a 20 mile run and if your hoping to run, guess again. This trail is treacherous. The ascents and decent are steep, there are rocks and roots everywhere, and to top it off the ground was frozen and parts of the trail were more like a bobsled course than a trail.
Though it was hard it was a great trail. I wouldn’t recommend it for running but it is certainly a wonderful hike.
The trail is marked very well and you can tell that it is well taken care of. Fun day overall.

Happy running,
Ultra Ryan

Castle was nice and the walk around the lake was lovely. Easy, mostly flat trails and VERY muddy. Might try again on a day when the ground is a bit more dry!

Great for an amble through the woods. Lots of trails and open space, great for dogs. Easy to navigate, clear trails.

overall awesome hike with a really cool railroad stretching over a bridge, and stunning rock walls. I gave it 3 stars because there’s only one peak where a clear view is visible, and most of the hike is under the trees. Hiked this on 12/31, snowshoes were not needed but microspikes are a must. In the winter this was a rather difficult and dangerous hike.

Beautiful trail. I did not get to go past the falls but will definitely be back to finish.

Great day to be outdoors hiking with the puppy! Lots of interesting trails but I didn’t find trails well marked if at all.

Trail was not clear at parts especially in the beginning, lots of construction, and very muddy. The loop around the lake is more worth your time, but still a decent hike once you get into the woods.

A nice place to hike (moderate to difficult near the top) with a good view at the summit. Snow packed the trail. Snow shoes are a must. I followed the Yellow path all the way up. Summit East. Be on the look out for the Yellow markers as some were hard to find. A good amount of streams that were either frozen over or ready to Crack with pressure. A few good spots for photos. I went up East and back down the same way. The snow would have been a real issue if I didn't plan for it. most ankle high, some higher. Great workout. I went Solo and saw no one the entire time.

Great winter hike! I would suggest microspikes and poles for some of the steeper areas! The Fall itself was completely frozen when we went!

great place to get out and enjoy nature and great views

A very good hike. Very wet and muddy but I found it more a moderate hike rather than hard

Great trail....starts steep right off the bat. Have to cross the water a few times getting to the top. Great views of the upper falls. AT to Everett is steep but worth the hike. Ran / Hiked rt 41 to Everett and back in 2 1/2 hrs.

Nice long walk, some slow incline and decline, nice scenery. great for biking. could rate higher but for the traffic. Usually some people nearby that don't know the benefits of peace and quiet and talk talk talk. Best in evening for less people. Castle nearby has events too.

Easy side of moderate with lots of roots, mud, flat rocks.

Completed this hike on a brisk, sunny day. As others have noted, the first part is like a nice walk in the woods, crossing over a wetland area flooded by beaver activity. Really beautiful! The steep sections were moderate in my opinion and I am by no means young. The views to the south from the ledges were spectacular, and I could see the Boston skyline and on the way down a view to the gleaming White Mountains! Definitely a worthwhile hike!

Great local trail with easy access, convenient parking and polite riders.

Took a group of 4-6 graders today. Great hike for beginners wanting to experience a bit of scrambling. Great for any level wanting to get a quick workout and see some gorgeous views. The monadnock region has a great resource of moderate hikes; this is one of them.

Hiked on 10/26/18–small amounts of snow and places of ice on higher elevations. Excellent hike—more moderate than hard for elevation gain. Many roots and some rocks. Take the Bemis trail to see two additional falls and walk the Falcon ridge cut off for an additional scenic view. Arethusa falls great to see amongst the ice. Part way along the Frankenstein cliff trail before the falcon ridge cut off you’ll be able to get an excellent view of Mt. Washington.

Gem of a local hike. Great cardio to views of Manchester and surrounding rural Hillsborough county.

Excellent trail, very people and dog friendly. Hike it early as it gets quite busy after 11, especially on weekends. A very moderate hike that can be made in under two hours. Take the few extra minute to go to East side of peak to get a nicer view to the east. Mt. Wachusetts is prominent to the South, but you have to find just the right spot to see Monadnock to the West. Lots of hawks during migrating seasons.

Beautiful scenic hike offering steep terrain in areas and views that make it worth it.

Easy hike with a small castle on the top of the hill. Plenty of parking. Lots of downed trees.

Lot’s to choose from, but not well marked.

Took the clockwise loop up Midstate to Wapack... less steep. Couldn’t see a view from Nuttings Hill but the views from Watatic were very good. I was the only person on the peak when I arrived, 9:30 on a Wednesday, but the parking lot was filling up as I was leaving. Definitely one of the better views in Ma. Trails can be very confusing without a GPS. A few more signs at the various junctions would be helpful.

Awesome day! We did the whole trail 21.5 miles for the trail, but clocked 23 for the day. Took 13 hours (11 hrs of moving time). Tough day, but saw sun rise and sun set from the first and last peak.
