There have been several people who had to be rescued from this trail due to treacherous conditions. The trail is unstable, the fog and wind unpredictable. Please research this before using the trail.

Great hike - be prepared that it's all up hill going out. The ending is worth it though!

Loved it!

View is breathtaking

Beautiful!! Totally worth it!

Beautiful!!

Loved this hike! Very pretty waterfalls.

5 stars for the view at the end, but this trail wasn’t very exciting. There are also no signs at all so you have to know where you’re going. For those that may not know, if you open the map of the trail from this app while you’re hiking, you can follow along as a blue dot so you know if you’re on the right path! That feature really came in handy on this trail.

Just walked this peaceful, beautiful trail. Easy, with a moderate incline at the beginning. 'Peace'.

Fun little hike-run. Did an out and back, and the views were stunning all directions! Beware of the steep cliff at the top with children and or DOGS! There are no signs and a good drop off over the ridge! 

We did this hike on our way home from camping at Odell Lake and enjoyed the reward of Goodman Creek. We did not go past Goodman Creek and it's inviting swimming hole and mini falls. There was a small campsite made at this junction, but sadly, whomever camped there felt that the forest would look much prettier with their collection of toilet paper and body waste off the side of the trail. It was approx 4 miles round trip from Hardestry Trailhead, moderate and mostly dry. Some steep inclines but mostly gradual and a pleasant hike.

CLOSED TODAY DUE TO “DANGEROUS CONDITIONS”.

Great hike with multiple families ranging in age from 4-44. Took an hour and ten to get up the 2.1 miles and just under an hour to get down. The view is pretty wonderful!!

I normally don’t write reviews but I have seen some negative reviews here lately that I wouldn’t want to persuade anyone not to go. The first thing to point out is that the trail it shows you on AllTrails is not the best trail to take and I think many people who are taking this hike and leaving bad reviews are not going to the best spots. Study the map before you go, or better yet, download it to your phone or GPS so you can track where you’re at. You will want to follow the trails (sometimes logging roads) that take you to the highest point in the area. While there is not any INSANE views, there are some pretty good views towards Dundee and Carlton that you can see from the top of the hill. If you get up to these, I find it hard to believe that you would be leaving a negative review on this hike. Even if you don’t see these views, there are many different unmarked trails that you can explore throughout the area. Yes, they are unmarked and overgrown in some spots but that’s what makes it fun. AllTrails says it’s a 2-3 mile hike but I walked 6 miles the first time I came here and felt like there was still a lot to explore. The area is beautiful and peaceful and there are many different ways you can take. Please don’t be turned off by the bad reviews, I think the people leaving them are not doing this trail correctly and have not adequately prepared for the hike.

Beautiful- moderate hike. We carried a 1 and 3 year old plus lots of extras and it was great- not easy but doable. Lots of roots and some mud but easy to maneuver. Views are stunning and worth the work. Definitely on our list of hikes worth repeating

Great hike. They are currently cutting back overgrowth (which was needed) Moderate is a good description. There’s some steep bits but mostly easy. Towards the Thumb it gets narrow and steep and the dirt is loose and dry so it’s a bit scary at times. We were carrying a 1 year old and 3 year old on our backs. I think doing a solo hike this would have been less of an issue but carrying a tiny human- things get a tad scarier. Overall— stunning and we’ll do it again sometime. They do need some signage tho. There’s two great viewpoints and you might miss one.
FYI- park at the state park. We watched them driving rounds looking for cars to ticket that parked on the road when walking up to the trail head.

Signs at the trail head still say closed. The area that “closed” the trail is a dried washed out creek. Easily crossed considering the the rest of the hike takes good footing with loose rock. Also passed the park workers replacing the bridge. Second time hiking this, always love the burn towards the top. Bug spray would be helpful :)

Very nice enjoyable hike. I would consider this easy. perfect for my 2 and 6yr old. they loved it! both walked the entire time. not very crowded.

Second time going....short hike with stunning views! We got a break in the clouds and it was so rewarding.

Beautiful!

Steep but rewarding hike. Get there early on a weekend to avoid the crowds. I wish I would have brought trekking poles; there are many areas with loose gravel going up.

I’ve done this twice now! It is a beautiful one to keep coming back to. Pack bug spray!!

Amazing hike!! Easy trail for beginners, with the option of a crazy steep trail for the more adventurous. Definitely will be going back here.

Great trail that offers fantastic views, birds, plants, and can be done easily in a light paced morning. Trail is very well developed and signed. Probably one of the more we’ll marked trails I’ve been on. I wanted to move fast for a good cardio workout but this trail begs you to move slow. For the views and for the slightly technical and wet trail. Once you get out of the plants the trail dries up. If you go later in the day, you have s better chance of no fog covering, however I enjoyed the fog.

like this hike is down the rd.. I love it for the incline. if u want to work on ur butt. this is the hike. short and sweet and def to the point

Gorgeous hike but could use some signage to guide you to the actual falls. Had a great hike and loved the natural slide.

This was a great short hike, easy for all

Great views. Trail wasn’t busy at all. We start right around 830am and only saw 3 other people the entire time. No bees at all.

I’d rate this easy aside from a few brief steep inclines and the final incline to the very top. Well worth the trip!

Fantastic views at the top of God’s thumb, but be careful when hiking with kids- there is a cliff at the top and no guard rail or danger signs. Also, it is supposed to be a loop trail, but it wasn’t obvious where the loop is, and the loop is overgrown, so we just did a “there and back” on the more popular trail. Shady with vegetation until you reach the “thumb.” Muddy in parts and lots of roots.
