GPS will take you to an entrance for the hike that'll take you about an hour to get to the tower. I wouldn't say it's hard but definitely a work out. The view is beautiful, the clouds are right in your face. Other pluses; camping is free and the drive up in nice.

Okay so here we go I will try to be quick. We did this trail today January 11th 2019. Many people say they are hiking this trail and they are actually only doing a small portion of it. We parked on Hale Ridge Road which has parking for about 3 cars. The first mile is okay and then it was horrid with downed trees everywhere. Do NOT take anyone inexperienced on this trail right now. Go to one of the more popular starts which are shorter hikes and the trails are clear to the top. This would be an amazing hike minus all the storm debris and we were still happy with the day but I see so many people posting it’s a great hike and look at the mileage and it’s not the true 9 miles. Anyhow be aware that for a while this is twice the hike it normally is and a bit sketchy at times due to the blow down.

Nice hike and worth the effort. Not terribly difficult but challenging at times. The views were great since it was a clear day.

It was a bit rainy when we went but that just made the waterfall look even more spectacular. Great view of Rainbow Falls, didn't go all the way to Turtleback because we had the dogs with us and they weren't really behaving well that day but would love to go back!

Worth the visit. Very well kept and friendly folks around. Waterfalls are amazing. Would definitely come back for another run.

Very nice trail and super easy. The falls are very close and the surrounding area is beautiful and fun to explore. Perfect place to picnic and play in the water in nice weather. Would definitely visit again. Look for the well marked area on the gravel road in as there are several trailheads that are close by and may be mistaken for Riley Moore.

If the highway is closed, you can walk from Elk Pasture Gap...a little over 6 miles round trip.

1Jan2019 - recent rains increased flows nicely...
Great family hike. Enjoyed rainbow as Sun break though...

Great short but intense hike.

Fun hike! Not hard.

Great hike. Rainbow Falls are amazing. It was well worth the additional hike to go on up to Turtleback Falls.

Warm Day in December. The trail was very busy so get started early on the weekend if you like to hike with little traffic. The falls were amazing after all the snow run off and rain. Very muddy and the mist at the falls got us all pretty wet. Great hike for newer hikers. Waterproof shoes helpful and be ready to get dirty!

We barely made it before they gate was locked but it was so worth it. Very beautiful place and story of where it got the name

This trail was very very difficult. On a normal day it probably would have been fairly easy. There was trees down every 50 feet it seemed and the path is narrow. I got about 2.5 miles in headed to Rabun bald and had to camp for the night. This was the 2nd campsite I came to along the way. I ended up turning around and leaving the next morning. Then I found out they recently had 18in of snow knocking down a ton of trees.

If you wanna get to Rabun Bald easier go to Kelsey Mountain Rd. There is a 3 mile out/back trail with very limited parking.
The view, however, at Rabun Bald is absolutely amazing.

I did this hike on probably the least likable day possible. 30 degrees with rain and ice but nonetheless, I still enjoyed myself. This hike was absolutely beautiful! Walking along the river is stunning and the waterfall is absolutely breathtaking. We only hiked to Rainbow Falls, which is the first fall along the trail. From start to finish, Rainbow is approximately 3.0 miles (BOTH WAYS). The trail is extremely well marked (no chance of getting loss, unless you leave the trail) but also extremely slippery due to the rain. It got a little scary along side the river and especially at the falls. This hike was not easy, there is a substantial amount of elevation fluctuations that make for a great workout but a strenuous experience. I can’t wait to do this hike again in good weather and the only reason I gave it four stars was because of the mud and water build up. Pictures do no justice and the falls are much bigger in person.

I do this trail about once a week with some friends and our dogs. We do the no-bikes part first which is pretty technical. Since I’m on foot I prefer that to the banked switchbacks. Great trail anyway.

Wife and I hiked this one last Sunday and we will return. The sign at the trailhead says the trail is strenuous, but it is moderate at most so don't be deterred. I'm 69 and not in the greatest shape and I made it just fine. Lots of flow due to the recent rain and temps in the 60's so it was a great day to be on this trail.

Tall waterfall in a small park. Trail follows the stream.

great trail, awesome views

Easy hike! Nice “beach” area for hanging out. The falls are beautiful. Wasn’t sure about the primitive road going down to the trail head so I parked at the first pull off

Super easy and quick. Beautiful falls!
