As far as a park goes it is fine. Nice playgrounds open fields, aquatic center, community center etc. I stopped by for a trail run and like other reviews could not really find any “trails”. It would be totally fine for jogging if you run around the perimeter of the park and on the sidewalks that go thru the park but it is not the place for a trail run. Nice park just was not what I was looking for this particular day

I’ve done this trail maybe three or four times now. I never get tired of it. Complete solitude.

Well maintained , excellent place for an easy hike.

Short and sweet. It is a nice evening walk with the kids.

Good short run. Nice trails. Can get 6-7miles with interest by varying route

The park is lovely. The AllTrails map is awful. I tried locating the "Trailhead" which lead me to a field and no parking. I drove to the Northeast on San Mateo drive, and found that the marked trail follows absolutely no trail at all. No other trails are marked even though the park is full of named trails. The southern part of the hike resembles the "drunkard's walk" (https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/drunkards-walk-leonard-mlodinow/1100995682#/). It meanders aimlessly around in circles. There is nothing, but a grass field and no trail.

Nice place boardwalk

We actually loved hiking here and did a 10 mile hike with our dog. Very well marked trails. I would say make sure to bring plenty of water for you and your pet since there are no areas for clean water. There was a lot of wildlife here and the views were very beautiful for a central FL trail. Avoid the equestrian trails if you aren't on horseback, there's little to no shade and it's a very long stretch before any trailheads. Trails are wet to dry so be sure to come prepared. Also if you bring your dog make sure to get a tick preventive!

Multiple trails in this park, but be prepared to share with horses, and trek through soft sugar sand. quite the workout.

Well-maintained and kid friendly wide trails

very clean and nice hiking trails

Close to the city & a great mini-hike; get away with the Lake Front

Just watch the ticks, Lyme disease is possible.

Love this beach and the preserve. Nice to kayak off the causeway as well. Great place for sunsets.

Beautiful little park with lots of wildlife. Also has a frisbee golf course. Loved living right down the road from here. Great dog walk.

Excellent little park which is well-maintained. There are several marked trails as well as side trails which keep things interesting for multiple visits. The main Red trail is roughly 75% under shade trees and 25% in the open. The Blue trails are bypasses from the Red trail which keep one under shade and away from the lakeshore; definitely recommended as I’ve encountered a variety of snakes while running closer to the lake. All in all a great park!

Very nice place for hiking.

Incredibly beautiful! Saw 3 turtles, huge bird on a branch watching everything. Probably an Osprey. Saw another huge bird fly over carrying an 8” fish! Must have been an Uber bird, or an Eagle. Very well marked, plenty of benches, great hike!

Came here on a Wed. There were 2 other cars in the lot but we didn't see any other people while hiking. Let me first say that the red trail + dogs = gator bait, does it not? Floridians would know to stay alert but visitors from other states may not realize. Even though it's very dry this week and the lake level is not at all high, it still made me nervous not being able to see past the tall weeds on the lake side of the trail. Luckily, there are multiple places where you can walk away from the lake through the woods to meet up with either the blue or green trails. These provide a lovely hike through the woods and makes for a nice relaxing day. There are places where these trails run along a fence parallel with the road but there are places where the trails cross and you can meander in and out of the woods as you prefer without getting lost. The trails are marked often and are of medium width. Not quite wide enough for a 4 wheel vehicle but you're also not pushing tree branches out of your way to get through either. Overall a nice experience. I would go back as this trail is close to home.

Live near by about 1,5 miles,
The only thing that I hate is that I did not know about this place until after I brought my house in Lutz.
If I id I would had brought a house within a block or two from it.
It is crowed during the weekend, do not go there.
it is nice during the week. usually one or two other cars..
I grew up on a farm, move to the city so I missed the woods
When I need to get away from the family.. I go there with a ice cooler with some sodas and something
to eat and just sit in the woods

Great spot. Floods out pretty often though so call ahead. San felasco is nearby though!

Trail itself is really short and floods out after even a moderate rain from the previous day. The sinkhole boardwalk is still closed and you can barely see down into it from the trail. I'd skip this place for now.

Good trail but hard pass around loop,

beautiful place.

Have been here multiple times. I do nature photography and have yet to be disappointed. It's definitely worth the entrance fee and time.

Just went, it's a beautiful place but yes unfortunately the sink hole is still closed and I was told will remain closed for up to 4 more months.

Love it. More wildlife than expected!

Great easy trail with something new to see every day. Many side trails not listed on map that bring you easily back to the main path.
