Nice hike on gravel road. the views we good, even on a cloudy, snowy day.

I did this little trail in December before the snowstorm forced its closure. It’s a nice, easy trail and great place to enjoy the fresh air and just get outside. The boardwalks would make a great scene for a photo shoot in the fall. There were remnants of fall color when I went and I bet it’s stunning in the peak of fall. The falls are small and several people have attempted to climb them and fallen off and died...

Wow! Awesome hike to a sprawling bald. Low effort, high yield. Just be prepared for hoards of people at the top on a nice day. Fortunately there are off-shoots and other trails in the vicinity you can explore to get away from the crowds. Definitely would do again, and would plan a camping trip to see sunrise from there.

This place is one of my absolute favorite! I did an overnight backpacking trip here and the view was beyond breathtaking. My now fiancé also proposed here at sunset and it was so dreamy! The hike isn’t bad and only took 15 minutes to get to the top. I would recommend wearing boots as it can be a little muddy.

Foggy wet and chilly but beautiful. the road leads to science center which has secondary trail heads that lead into SMNP. Too wet and foggy for those until spring.

Very much enjoyed the hike.

December 27th hike around 12:00 noon.
We parked on the road not knowing about the upper parking lot and went in around the AT, I think.
Went up to the summit first, back down and then around the backside of the trail to the main parking lot.
We then walked back to our car down the road about 200 yards or more.

there was a bunch of snow and some ice, as well as crazy wind at the summit.
We loved this trail and can't wait to see it in the spring or summer.

This is a fun, easy trail in Pisgah but due to recent snow/storms the trail is closed. Looks like some bridge rebuilding and a lot of clean up is needed.

Technically the trail is closed as of 12/19/2018 because a portion of the boardwalk was taken down by a fallen tree, rest of the trail was in great shape, though a bit muddy in a few places. Did it on a weekday afternoon in December and had the trail and falls all to myself. The falls are amazing and I Iove how you can get behind them, makes you feel small compared to everything else lol. Give yourself 45mins to complete, thats giving you enough time to enjoy the falls and get a few pics/video, makes this a perfect late afteernoon hike with high rewards. A must do in Pisgah!

Easy uphill hike. Falls are underwhelming. Pretty hike along a creek.

This is a short, well-maintained, easy trail, that leads to a wonderful waterfall. It's a heavily trafficked trail, but the waterfall makes it worth fighting the crowds. You can walk behind the waterfall, which flows over an overhang. This is a must-see in any trip to Pisgah.

One of my favorite hikes of all time, hands down!

Awesome trail run with slight incline. The river had some great views. Very easy

The views were breathtaking! Short, somewhat muddy walk up to the summit. Once there, it’s the most incredible 360 views of the smoky mountains! It’s right off the interstate, and the ride up the mountain was just as fun and gorgeous.

My 5, 8, and 10 year old enjoyed the hike. Super easy and 360 degree views!

Good short hike. Did this with a 3 and 6 year old with no issues. There is parallel parking on both sides of the road right at the trailhead. Ends at a waterfall that has an observation deck. Also some side paths that you can use to get underneath the waterfall. Trail was not too muddy, but I’m also not sure the last time it rained.

I hike this trail monthly when I want something easy with lots of great views and places to stop and chill. Midnight Hole is a staple as are the falls a half mile beyond.

Hiked this trail on Wednesday. The weather wasn’t the best, visibility was very poor from the summit and I just loved it! The sound of my boots on the trail, the echo of birds calling, the rain beating against my pack, and a dog barking in the distance set the scene for my peaceful trek to the summit via the AT. It was very muddy and I stumbled a time or two and actually fell once due to the slippery trail. My trekking poles were a tremendous help on this day.

This was a nice hike. The views at the research station are great. There are several picnic tables and bathrooms there. Don't miss the old cabin.

Breath taking views from the top! Slippery when wet, gets real muddy in the rain. Wear appropriate shoes.

Fairly easy uphill walk on a wide graded road. Beautiful views at the top! My 1st time here so I was a little confused when you come to the fork in the trail where you can either go up the grassy trail, shorter but steeper, or continue on the gravel road. Both end at the science center and views. I missed the turn for the Ferguson cabin and didn't have time to go once I realized my mistake. But I will definitely try this one again!

Beautiful! using Mark Swope Sr 's directions, which were spot on and easy, from parking to falls and back was only 0.4 mile. So if you're looking for a very short easy get-away, this is perfect! Colors were gorgeous and the falls we're beautiful!

wonderful panorama's at the very top. one of the few trails that I traveled that is all uphill on on the way to the top with no downs, and all downhill on the way back. great facilities at the top and the research station is amazing

Follow Garrett's directions. very helpful regarding parking and the gate at the start...loved the trail.

A beautiful wooded trail that was well maintained. We loved the creeks along the way and waterfall at the end.

Due to time, I could only do an hour so I did an out and back Starting from the north part of the campground. The trail was just starting to get interesting at my turnaround point, it was hard not to just keep going! Can’t wait to return and do the whole thing.

Words can’t describe it!

hard to find. horse loop trail takes you to Creek that you cross which then heads towards the falls.

Gorgeous trail and views
