Such a beautiful hike on a crisp winter morning I recommend this hike to anyone! So many beautiful waterfalls

Stunning sunrise hike

Got there later in the afternoon so thankfully we missed all the tourist hikers.
Great for my 2 year old but again just too popular of a site to go more than once every few years.

We went up to Nevada falls via the Mist Trail and then looped back down the John Muir switchbacks. If you like to hike you must do this - it’s beautiful and rewarding. I love this hike. We went when the falls were just thundering and we were soaked so be prepared for that possibility depending on how Vernal falls is running. If you’re in Yosemite and have not done this hike just do it you will not regret it! Spectacular views.

Beautiful beautiful hike!

Good walk/hike. The big trees are all down on the boardwalk but it is much less crowded on this trail after leaving the boardwalk. We got an early parking reservation (9am) and glad we did. By the time we left it was crazy with cars circling the lot, looking for a spot.

It's more a walk than a hike. The first part is quite beautiful along the stream with redwood trees and ferns lining the path.

Loved this one! We looped with the Jones Bar trail and it was a blast. Not very kid friendly over on the Jones bar part because of steep terrain but still a good trail to hike.

one of most beautiful and easiest hikes in the area. best place to see sequoias outside Sequoia or Yosemite National Parks. just note that this hike is also in another National Park and you need to pay

JM trail was closed so we couldn't do the loop in mid october. Ended up doing out and back on the mist, still a great hike. Definitely one of the more popular trails in the valley, so be prepared for lots of traffic on trail.

We did this hike in mid-December. While cold on the valley floor, we quickly warmed up with both the elevation gain and increased exposure to the sun. Really busy at the base of the hike but thins out as different path options are made available. Beautiful views of the valley and two legendary waterfalls. Great places to stop for lunch or enjoy a beer. Easy to follow, although we weren't able to do the full loop due to trail closures from rockfall risk.

Challenging hike but the views are worth it. I'd definitely like to check it out in the Spring. Trail got pretty busy on the way down so start early.

Great winter hike !!

It’s a beautiful hike, took someone with me that had some hip issues so we went nice and slow and she was able to enjoy the beautiful hike too. I do recommend going counter clockwise.

Awesome trail that is almost completely uphill out and downhill back. This is a do not miss hike when in Yosemite. The views get better and better as you go. Completed it over New Years so it was a little icy on the stairs by the top of the falls but there is a little side route to avoid the ice if you need.

I'd been to this trail several times during the summer, but never during the winter, and wow... go during the winter months! The trails aren't as packed, and the waterfalls are flowing with so much more water! Bring a waterproof jacket though because when you go under the falls the mists are so strong that you may get soaked. Excellent hike that I will keep going back to.

Awesome family hike and very flat. Little chilly as most of the trail is shaded.

I hike this trail frequently for a quick 1-2hour trek with my dogs. I love the variety of easy trails and turn offs.

Absolutely amazing in every way, even when muddy and wet it was still fun to trail run. Just get ready to stop a lot, it’s breathtaking all throughout. I enjoyed starting at the North parking lot (not where this map leads you to) and running clockwise.

Easy hike with great views. Maybe spot a whale or two if you’re lucky!

If your car-less and coming from San Fran, an easy and affordable way to enjoy Muir Woods is: 1. Take bus(#30)/ferry to Sausalito ($6.50/$12 one way), 2. Take Muir Woods shuttle ($3 round trip; reserve seat in advance). Beats the $70+ tours! This trail was mainly in the shade but got some filtered sun. Very few muddy spots. Well maintained, wide packed trail for most of it. There is no summit (it hugs the contour line once you’ve reached max elevation) and there aren’t viewpoints. Consider the Dipsea trail if you want a peak at the ocean. Definitely nice to get away from the crowds.

It’s one of the best hikes that I have done here in us.... this time of year around with the overcast, the forest for green and live and serene and beautiful... waterfalls were amazing and walk behind certain waterfalls makes you forget where you are

Forested, shady, level and incredible views. We took this hike this year around Christmas. The trees were damp with dew, and the sun was peeking through the fog, highlighting the South Yuba River Canyon. The forest is a mixture of Ponderosa, Digger, and other conifers, along with California Oak, Madrone and Manzanita. The best part of this trail is the bridges. The wooden walkways provide good photo spots and break up the trail length. Don’t be fooled by the mountainous topography. This trail is almost 100% level. Flat. In fact, we heard it was one of the first wheelchair accessible dirt trails constructed in the USA back in the 70s. It follows an irrigation ditch built by the Chinese in the 1800s. Now used as a hiking path. At times, we switched from the top to the bottom of the ditch. Consider the unique canyon boardwalk as the destination. Making it about an hour round-trip walk. Great for groups, or anyone looking for a level start. Bring high-soled shoes and trekking poles if you plan to hike in the winter, as the ditch can be muddy in some spots.

One of the most beautiful trails and not difficult at all! Can't wait to come back.

Beautiful and serene. Breathtaking

Beautiful walk. The path is very accessible and great for children. The description says, “heavily trafficked” and that is an understatement.

Parts of the Mist trail are closed, detouring you to John Muir trail. It makes it longer by ~2.5 but completely with it. Great views of upper Yosemite Falls as you hike up John Muir trail

Have hiked this one multiple times, not crowded on weekdays or in the mornings. Would recommend taking two cars and parking one at the north parking lot and then starting at the South Falls lot and doing the loop that way. Parking is $5 or a state parks pass.
If hiking in the winter, the trail near and around the South Fall can be complete ice

Easy, and gorgeous
