Nice little bike ride, with a lighthouse and the fort. Added a walk along the perimeter of the fort where the pet cemetery is. Interesting. Sizable museum in the fort is worth a visit.

We were back again for the weekend from NC, very popular trail, recommend to go pretty early when less crowded and more parking spots. My lab enjoyed the walked :)

Beautiful views, and the trail is short and easy. Several times we diverted to run next to the ocean, which the dog absolutely loved. BIG DRAWBACK is the sand burs. By the time I realized the tiny walk through the grass from the trail to the parking lot was covered in them, I had to carry my dog to protect her feet (still ended up removing more than a dozen of them from the pads of her feet.) However, they seem to be an issue only in the grass right next to the running trail. We didn’t have any trouble on the beach itself, and if you go in the grass closer to the middle of the fort (farther away from the trail) you should be okay too. The people were all incredibly friendly, and we plan to go back (my pup will be wearing shoes

My favorite trail in First Landing. I take my 6 year old dog here as often as possible, and she loves it. This trail is pretty heavily trafficked so I feel super safe by myself. You get views of a lake, Marsh, and a little beach access. Have seen a lot of wildlife, including birds, snakes, turtles, and squirrels. Can be very muddy if it has rained recently.

Very easy trail around a lake. Plenty of ppl, dogs, and even stroller traffic. The path is wide and allows for you to get around people if needed.

Great trail for walks/runs. My only complaint is all of the burrs in the grass along side the trail (opposite the water side). My kids wanted to do a little running and I told them to do it in the grass... they came out screaming because they were covered in burrs

This was a great trail! I went with my bike and had a great time. There was some wets spots but overall really good. We took Cape Henry trail and at end of it there was a port-a-potty that was disgusting and I would recommend definitely not use that. If you go to the right of Cape Henry trail and onto the 64th st road there’s a little bench spot where you can rest and see the lake also at end of 64th street there’s the beach, totally worth it!

I took my chocolate lab to the trail and we loved it so much, easy walk, decent distance. Even some parts of the trail close to the expressway, but I didn’t find it bothersome. I plan to take my lab back again everyday until it’s time to go home

Easy to walk on level boardwalk beautiful scenery beach/harbor.

The Fox Run section of the trail is a bit sandy but had beautiful views of the water. Lots of cyclists on the other parts of the trail but it is wide enough to accommodate both foot and cycle traffic.

I both worked and visited False cape very frequently in the past. Everything about False Cape is incredible, lots of bugs in the summer but definitely worth it. Great fishing in the designated fishing areas and the primitive camping is hard to beat (with a permit). Check it out!

Awesome trail to just take in a little fresh air and enjoy nature. Very easily accessible. The kids loved it.

It's hard to be upset when mother nature wins - but the mosquitos drove us off this trail in record time! The entry (from the South) is a paved road, and there is no problem until you enter the trail itself. Within minutes, the mosquitos had scored a decisive victory and we just weren't up for the hike. The trail looked beautiful though. Next time, I'll bring mosquito repellant!

A fun hike, very clearly marked and very easy to walk. Just be sure to bring tons of bug spray and watch for snakes.

Also everyone who uses this app should also use the Picture This Plants app! It’s a fun app that you take pictures of the flora around you and it will give descriptions and details for said plant. I personally enjoy it and enjoy sharing my findings!

This is a beautiful, boggy trail along marsh and lake front. There is very slight elevation to the trail. I ran this out-and-back on a weekday in August about 10am and there had only been a little preceding rain. The footing was quite good - pine covered in stretches - with only about 20 or so muddy areas or puddles, most of which are small and could be easily avoided. I'm sure that can be quite different after rain. There is one stretch about 20 meters long that is quite sandy but otherwise good footing for hiking, running, biking. I saw only about 15 people but it was a weekday. Even while running I could see egrets in the marsh and squirrels. I'm sure there is quite a bit more if you are quiet. This is a great dog walking trail also.

Nice walking/running path. The occasional unleashed privileged dogs.
Lots of shade.

The West trail was closed when I went, so I kept to the East. Very beautiful scenery. The trail is flat so it's easy to walk. But there's very little shade, so bring lots of water to hydrate.

Rode my TREK Powerfly 5 from the 64th entrance along the Raptor and Cape Henry Trail to the boat ramp and back. It’s a beautiful area with excellent birding and easy access to salt water marshes and shoreline beaches. Lots of shade trees.

My fav for running! Beautiful park!

Short, easy, wide, packed trail. Rather busy for an early Sunday morning but everyone was very friendly!

Thy trail was pretty busy on both ends, with a lot of people not paying attention to their surroundings. As far as biking goes, this trail is okay. The first few miles from the trail center were nice, but then back half had spots that were pretty sandy for a bike, and the view changed from quiet nature ride to beach party-ish. Suggested trail edits to correspond with the trail map available through the State Park (and actual park signage), which has the trail turning towards Broad Bay with a total trail distance of 6.1 miles (http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/document/data/trail-guide-firstlanding.pdf)

Beautiful paved trail, perfect for walking with a stroller. The views are amazing, the people are nice, and the breeze is refreshing on the hottest of days. By the time you are done, it doesn’t seem like you have walked that far.

Great walk but not quiet since it’s still near the interstate and very busy. Overall a very nice walk and scenic.

First Landing Park trails, in their entirety, are great way to spend your entire day. For the most part, they're all flat trails, with the only challenge coming in their length depending on how much you prefer to walk. Be sure to pick up a park map from the trail Center. It's worth noting that there's also a parking pass fee ranging from $5 to $10 depending on the time of year.

I walked in today and did Otter Point Trail and then Molly Mitchell. I had Otter Creek all to myself and didn't even see another Person. I definitely wouldn't do any hiking in this park after a rain as a lot of it is low lying. It was easy and well maintained. Lots of places to stop and take in nature of to grab a rest.

Excellent walk along the Hampton Roads side of the Chesapeake Bay as well as a history lesson if you are interested. You can walk inside the fort or along the sea wall or both. Great breezes off the water make for a pleasant walk on a warm day!

Great bike ride! We took our kids and they are not strong bikers, but had a great time. Heard the frogs, saw the woodpeckers and the swamps. A little crowded on a Saturday in March, but still room to ride. Decent elevation changes for controlled coasting and mild hill climbs.

Great for dogs
