This trail is super because you dont have to walk very far to reach Diamond Point and spectacular views. I walked it with my dogs on a Sunday and saw all walks of people of fitness and condition along the way. Was very pleasant. November 18, 2018

rock scrambling is the best.

Don’t let the short distance fool you, this trail is great! The rock scramble at the top is pretty awesome and the views are just spectacular! A great place to watch the sun go down!

this is a great trail. my wife and I did this trail and thought it was kind of boring at first but the end results are breathtaking. i would recommend hiking boots, there are some ankle eaters along this trail.

Good, moderate trail. Wide pathways with small, loose rocks. Go early in the morning (before 9am) to avoid crowds. The views at the top are nothing short of stunning. Can get windy though, so be careful. Would do this again. Took some smaller, offshoot trails for even more views.

Loved this hike! A bit icy in some spots, so careful foot placement was a must. Took me 2 and a half hours, and I’m a beginner hiker. Would definitely do this hike again, and try the loop in the other direction.

A little steep at times, but totally worth it! The view and the wind take your breath away! Beautiful leisurely hike back downhill to the car. Highest point in the park!

It was a bit icy this weekend. View at the top was beautiful! Did the full loop took about 2.5 hours.

Icy spots on the way up made AT loop descent a better choice. So windy! Layers are a must. Stunning view and fun little rock scramble at the summit.

Fun, short hike. Easy enough for a five and six year old. Very crowded on weekends. Excellent view!

Nice short hike. I had a few rain free hours to do this hike. It was creepy walking up in the fog and clouds but also awesome! lol I got the top and was alone but could not see the beautiful view because I was surrounded by clouds, I couldn't see more than 10 feet in front of me (I figured this would be the case when I started the hike). I couldn't even see the drop-off from the rock cliff, this was also creepy and awesome. I was not disappointed by not getting the view that everyone describes, I think my experience at the top was unique and interesting. Pic posted of my overlook.

This is probably my favorite trail in the entire park. This is like a giant playground. It feels exposed and if you are afraid of heights, this probably is one to stay away from ...but the views are amazing and worth it. It is a pretty easy hike and the payoff for the view is well worth the scramble. NO DOGS allowed on the trail for obvious reasons ...I don't want someone hurting their fur baby trying to get them up to the summit for a pic, there are plenty of other places for that in the park..

Nice trail with good views. Not worth it to go all the way if you just want a great view of the Cove. Only need to go to the second power line clearing.

Great views for such a short and easy hike! Hiked on a beautiful, sunny, autumn morning. Will definitely do again.

This trail was very easy and didn’t take but maybe an hour to complete. The top was amazing but be prepared to share it with tons of other people because it’s a popular hike!

Decent hike with an okay view. Upon entering the trail, it was difficult to know whether to go to right or left. Thankfully, we went left.

The hike was challenging but the view was worth it!

Rocky and fun lots of beautiful spots to look out along the way

The downsides are that some sections of the trail are basically a fire road. The top is so amazing though; it’s really worth the so-so scenery beforehand. Camping at the top just before the rock is great fun too. The you can get a view of the sunset when the crowds have died down.

Great trail.

One of the best places for sunrise/sunset if your up to scrambling up and down the rocks.

Spot on for the rating of moderate, it’s a good hike !!! The scenery, views and photo ops are simply superb. One of my favorite trails in WV. ❤️

We started day one of our HIKE socked in with fog then it started to rain. - We made it to the highest point in the Shenandoah National Park. - Just a short side trail off of the Appalachian Trail was the Stony Man Summit we were at a elevation of 4,036 Feet. - It's the highest point in Shenandoah along Skyline Drive. - On our way back down off the mountain we couldn't see 5 feet in front of us. This is great side trail off the AT and is only a 322 feet climb in 8 tenths of a miles. We will need to do this side trail again just to see the views in that location.

Super steep, but our group of mostly-out-of shape hikers, 2 young kids, and dog made it no problem. The only issue was all of the acorns on the descent. 2 adults and both kids took pretty bad spills. I definitely would bring walking sticks next time.

We hiked connecting from McAfees Knob trail and it made for a beautiful vista as well.

What a trail! Fairly short hike but the amount of time you will spend on the cliffs enjoying the many AMAZING views will turn it into a long outing. Views of the bridge, gorge, and river are all spectacular. The cliff walls are very impressive as well with lots of rock climbers on them. One of the best hikes I’ve done this year.

Does anyone know if the Fish Hatchery Route is open or if you can hike up the private road?

Good trail, definitely on the easier side of life. Overlook is gorgeous but a small area so prepare for it to be cramped with other visitors. Four year old handled the trail with ease.
