We liked it sooooo much! We went on the 25th, and seriously, it was amazing. We were all beginners, so it was a feat for us, but we fell in love with the peaceful landscape at the top. What a fulfillment! I would suggest this one for anybody that would like to start hiking.

The trail condition was somewhat difficult today, the snow was semi hard and the path has been trampled, so hard with snowshoes. Was a beautiful day though and not too windy nor cold ! Long walk from the winter parking to the beginning of the trail. Will try again this summer !

Super view but not enough km

I hiked the LT last summer with my best friend from end to end , so returning to the gulch in the winter gave me a chance to reflect back on the hike from the glen birch shelter through the gulch to belvideere Mountain. It was all it was the first time but with awesome winter views of the the gulch covered in ice and snow and the ponds coming in on the LT and returning to the parking lot via the Babcock trail. Highly recommend for a nice day hike with a little bit for everyone, lots of wildlife and views for some great pics.

I've done this hike tons of times within the past 5 years. They've recently redone the trail and now have a different route, which has thrown me off a little bit due to my familiarity with the old trail but if you figure out the new trail it's fairly easy to follow.

I thought there was an incredible view at the top. I went up when it was snowing and the view of Lake Willoughby and surrounding mountain ranges was breathtaking.

bit muddy and wet. crazy views througout the hike. some tricky rock scramble sections. very well marked.

Nice hike. Hells brook ascent to the Adam's apple and chin was definitely a rigorous but rewarding climb.

The Trail was steeper than anticipated, but a great hike and it was a beautiful day. Our pocket beagle did great on the trail as well. Very dog friendly! Not a huge view at the top, but still worth it.

fantastic fall hiking

Went on a Thursday morning with my dog and I was the only one on the trail, saw 2 groups on my way down. Final 1/3 was challenging but the views from the fire tower were excellent on a clear day.

great climb to top of mt. great views along the way. Took about 1hr 40 min RT.

conditions : wet + windy + leaves
Trail : loop starting from ccc road @ up maple ridge @ long trail (forehead to chin) @ down sunset ridge
stats : 5h (including breaks) / 12km / 867m
cost : 4$ US per person, they also accept Canadian money.
This is my 4th hike ever (my biggest yet), it was a great personnal challenge.
Great advice from the park ranger : start going up maple ridge in these wet conditions, it would've been very dangerous going down those slippery rock walls.
Very hard on the knees going down such technical terrain, using hiking poles normally help but the ground is so irregular we could use them only near the bottom.

I went today after it rained quite a bit last night, that made coming back down interesting due to the steep grade being slippery. I went up the North trail, down the South and brought Long Pond Rd back to the car. It was well worth it. Breathtaking views, gorgeous day, fall colors! Would definitely do it again!

Definitely gets steeper once closer to the top. But even that an as an amateur hiker, I was still up, spent sometime at the top, and back at the car in under three hours. The only thing I wish was that there were views other then at the top of the tower, but it is solid and adds an interesting twist. Would definitely do it again, and recommend it to someone.

A nice trail up mount Ellen. Seeing maple lines were cool. Trail is not too steep or rocky.

Only did part of the trail as I was on a tight schedule. Great views!

Solid hike for the time and distance. I hiked it with a 2 year old in a pack, and reached the summit in about 30 minutes (solid pace). The last stretch is quite steep and I saw a few folks pulling off for a rest. Going down (esp with a heavy pack) is slow due to the grade of that section. Overall great view, fun hike :)

Probably my favorite hike in Vermont. I usually will hike the North and South Trail on Mount Pisgah, and will loop back around on the road. The whole hike is filled with amazing views, even when you are trekking roadside.

Excellent trail with a few lookouts on the way up. Enjoy them as the summit is a bit disappointing.

The trails were muddy and slippery, especially on the way down, because of the rain in the previous weeks.

Beware if you're hiking with an unfriendly dog, most hikers keep their dogs off leash which can cause dangerous interactions in the narrow trails.

Decent views for a relatively easy hike, but definitely a lot of "delayed gratification", having to hop from viewpoint to viewpoint through heavily forested paths (no open ledges)

Went yesterday started from the south trail (parking spots) and got back from the north trail I had to walk an hour back to my car on the highway but the view was fantastic!! Great workout going up was tough but going down was a breeze very enjoyable.

Great little trail especially on a windy day.

A nice challenging hike with amazing views. Can explore the top and get several views that are breathtaking. One of my favorites.

Great hike and views, though highly trafficked on the Sunset Ridge portion. Would recommend going counter-clockwise, as others have reported.

Went here for the first time today. Amazing scenery. Challenging and fun at the same time.

I did this loop counterclockwise just like at least two other reviewer's had suggested. It was fantastic. Completely socked in with fog for the first 3 1/2 hours, it finally cleared and the mountains revealed themselves. Next time I'm going to head up the Cliff Trail.

Never actually made it to the trail. Walked and walked and walked forever on CCC road. Terrible directions and no signs directly towards any trail. Terrible cell phone service and lots of bugs. So remember to map the way before hiking and bring bug spray!!!

Vue spectaculaire! Nous avons trouvé la montée un peu difficile pour les débutants que nous sommes, mais nous avons tout de même eu la piqûre il semble bien :) Baignade au lac très satisfaisante à la fin de l'après-midi, le paysage y est extraordinaire!
