Great hiking trail with a nice view. Mix of steep and flat terrain!

Short walk to the fall. Very beautiful half frozen water fall at the end. Went there in an early morning on 1/2/19 with my dog.

I don’t know what this trail is like in warmer months, but you will definitely need ice cleats to hike here on new year eve (12/31/18). I brought my golden retriever with me and she did it without any problem (she quickly learned about the ice and she would get around it). Met the black mountain dog and one of the golden retrievers - I heard they live near the trail and hike with people daily for fun. To be honest, the trail should be rated as hard given the steepness. The half upper portion definitely feels like good cardio exercise. I had to take breaks in between and my heart was beating fast.

This is a great short hike to do while visiting Stowe - beautiful and varied forest along the trail, enough gain to get your heart pumping, and great views of Mansfield and Camel's Hump from the top. I tried it, unprepared for the ice, with a friend on 12/30/18 and we turned back about 3/4 miles in. Went back alone with microspikes and poles on New Years Eve day and made the top easily. Going up I met people on their way down, but I broke out onto a vacant summit and had about 15 minutes to myself up there before heading back down. I've done the hike many times in all seasons, but this was the iciest I've experienced...

Trail not very well marked.

Fun hike! I will definitely be going back

Wonderful morning winterland hike with microspikes and the two ambassador dogs with bells. What a gift they were!

Fun hike. Pretty steep all the way through, the view is worth it though. I would strongly suggest bringing a good amount of water on this hike, and the right equipment. A fire tower at the pinnacle is great for pictures and instagram photos.

Awesome trail. My wife and me had a wonderful time and encountered two beautiful dogs along the way

12-16 : loved this hike! Super snowy but well packed down and not very icy. Definitely gets your heart rate up, but the view from the lodge is glorious. Perfect afternoon hike!

beautiful day for a hike. Definitely need yak tracks. the view at the top was spectacular today!!

We hiked up today (nov 12). It was a nice thin snow cover but very icy towards the top. Pretty low elevation gain and not too difficult besides the ice. The view on the top of the fire tower was beautiful and panoramic. I would recommend crampons and or sticks if you are going later in the winter but we made out just fine in backpacking boots in early nov. perfect for a quick day hike

Absolutely beautiful hike, it can get intense at some points closer to the pinnacle but it’s worth every bit. Best time to go is the first week of October.

Loved this trail! Views from the top (and middle) are beautiful and worth the semi-challenging trail. Additional fun: Two local golden retrievers with bells and tags met us at the bottom and took us all the way to the top, no owners. We learned from some locals on the trail that these amazing pups have been on that trail for years and are sweet and brave, which we found out!

Beautiful sites at the top. Definitely a challenging incline. Could be done in a few hours. Overall very fun.

I did today 10-30. Lots of ice at the beginning then snow. It was windy. Very windy. From bottom of notch road by the new Boardwalk on Stowe side I started there so w the up and down and back to my car 4 hours. only one sketchy spot at the very beginning of actual trail. I used poles and my Yaktrax. I always use poles. Some deep snow around the pond area in some spots. Very fun hike today. I saw no one. ONE MAN GATHERS WHAT ANOTHER MAN SPILLS.

I did this today. 28 degrees rain Iicey snow sleet precipitation. Some really sketchy spots at the very top just before the fire tower. Lots of very thick ice. Danger Will Robinson The fire tower was covered in ice. Probably not a good move on my part and ; coming down was freeking treacherous Whole thing took about 2.25 hours. ONE MAN GATHERS WHAT ANOTHER MAN SPILLS.

Great hike, was windy and snowing-the shelter made for a nice place to get out of the wind to have a snack and a rest before heading back. The trail is well marked and easy to navigate. There were some beginning patches of ice right at the ledge where the ladder is, so tread easy!

Easy, short walk with beautiful falls at the end.

Excellent hike and view!!

Gorgeous hike but with snow and freezing weather (oct 18) the trail almost entirely iced over and was extremely slippery. Completed in just under an hour and a half. Would have been much quicker in warmer conditions or with crampons.
The lake is gorgeous and sooo serene.

Awesome

Great hike. Started out around 1030 am and finished after 2pm, all at a casual pace with our dog. Coming down the Fire Tower Trail was a little dicey for the dog with all the mud, but we all enjoyed it!

The view on the top was spectacular once the flurries of snow drifted away and the clouds cleared. As for difficulty, I would say this is on the harder side of moderate even though I began at the Stowe Pinnacle Meadow parking lot. Yes, the view is definitely worth the hike up.

This is the second time here. the first time we went all the way to the top but this time just to the falls and got a fabulous picture.

Today with the weather; cloudy with mist of rain, felt like walking through a rain forest. Especially with the running down stream of the water. Chilly, but with the trek and hear beating, not bad. At the top, walking"around" the pond was closed. Don't know the season or just today. Still a great trek.

Nice hike! Beautiful views at the top! I'm sore!

Favorite!

Easy and great for kids!
