Trail has been relocated near the top (after the upper Jenny/Ratllesnake intersection), adding 1/3 mile in each direction, winding up towards the Oak Ridge trail then back to the cliff overlook. New section is fairly steep, and was a bit slippery when I visited. Still, a great payoff at the end with amazing views of Lake Dunmore, Silver Lake, the Moosalamoo woods, and the Champlain Valley.

Really this would probably be 3 1/2 stars for me. This hike was pretty without much elevation but like another reviewer noted it is rocky! Once you cross over the creek that whole section of the trail is super rocky. I couldn't really enjoy my surroundings, because if you looked up while walking you'd twist an ankle. Our golden retriever had a rougher time then usual too with paw placement. A 2 mile hike to the pond should have taken our family of 4 around 40 minutes or less - we hike a lot. It took us over an hour to get to pond since it was slow going with the rocky path.

Hiked this mo’ fo’ yesterday and it was gorgeous. Started snowing at altitude. I’m a trail runner, but beginner hiker. My running endurance paid off and I crushed this gosh darn mountain.

Nice trail for a day hike. the trail itself is actually slightly more than 5 miles.

Went on this hike about a year ago with my husband. It was really tough but rewarding! The summit was beautiful and worth it. The fact that there’s a bathroom with running water at the top was a plus. Would definitely do it again!

Very nice trail. A little rocky definitely moderately rated. My wife and I are amateur hikers and it took us about 3 hours round trip. Totally worth the view though!

Awesome hike but it is tough. I brought my three kids and they hated me for a little while afterwards. See my full write up. http://www.eastcoasthiker.com/trails/equinoxmountain

Great trail. Park near water tower and go along well maintained road. Stop at stream. Go to Prospect Rock.
You can extend hike by going on well marked AT or Long Trail.
On way back find a road on left and follow about 100 yards to incredible overlook of Lye Brook and Manchester.
Today was perfect color in October. Life is good.

Fall and this trail is everything. The views are amazing and if you are lucky enough to have a clear day, will be an awesome hike.

Seems like a breeze, until you’re JUST about at the peak! Didn’t realize there was tram service up there until we redirected some not well-dressed tourists back to the tram as they started making their way down the steep rocky long trail in loafers and polos! Beautiful waterfall stop highly recommended to sit and listen to the white noise of nature.

Misty, foggy day, but beautiful stream-side hike. Foliage was great.

Challenging in certain areas, especially with dogs. Hiking boots are highly recommend. Due to the terrain, very rocky, mostly uphill ascent and downhill decent, and combination of water crossings, felt rating was slightly underrated. The falls are spectacular and worth the challenge

This was a nice hike and you can see that at times of rain it could be very muddy. There was just a few spots that you had to navigate some mud but heck your hiking right? Don’t wear ballet shoes and you will be fine. At the top you can have a nice lunch on the lift platform. They were offering free rides on the gondola back and forth to the lodge.

Great hike especially that the weather was perfect. Lots of fungi to see all different types and colors. A nice surprise near the top with a dense Forrest . Nice view of the town below. Leaves were a little late this year but a couple nice trees turning

Great Trail for all ages. Wear sturdy hiking footwear and layered clothing for the fall...overall a great adventure.

Pretty simple trail, steady incline nearly all the way up to the summit/lookout on consistent footing. Flattens out about an eighth of a mile before the summit, and if you’re looking for the sign it isn’t too hard to see (there’s also a second sign lower down on the same tree that says “LOOK UP ⬆️⬆️” but not sure how long that’s been there). Went on an overcast day of the first weekend of October, kind of bummed that the cloud cover limited the view but still got some nice pictures.

Fantastic hike! Made it in around 5.5 hours. We hiked this mountain in October and the view was incredible!

Pretty good hike although it was very muddy even though it hadn't rained in a few days. Made it in under 4 hours.

great trail! well worth the hike.

We completed this hike in beautiful weather earlier today. Everything that the others have written about the trail starting gently and then finishing with demanding scramble is ‘spot on’. The views from the top were however absolutely magnificent and rendered all of the hard work getting there, worthwhile. We would thoroughly recommend this walk.

Difficult but nice, rewarding

Very nice! A perfect short trail ☺️

This hike takes you to a really beautiful waterfall. It is rocky and you cross a few streams along the way. All were crossable but one was mildly challenging. I recommend for a nice short hike to a great view.

I have been hiking this trail for nearly 20 years and it never disappoints. Did this trail up and down with 20 lbs in my pack to prepare for trip in the Whites. Definitely challenged me! Totally worth the effort!

Was a lot of fun. View was incredible.

Well kept with all the traffic back and forth. Great scenery from the Green Mountain.

Good hike, but lots of rocks. Pretty falls, but probably a lot nicer after a good rain.

Great hike in my backyard. PLEASE DO NOT VENTURE OFF TRAIL! I’ve done way too many searches for lost hikers up here. Easy to follow trail markers

Hike this often .... very steep fire road style hike with rewarding views

Awesome payoff at the top, the views were amazing. I did Rattlesnake both up and back. I think the mileage is off however, they have rerouted the trail and added several switchbacks, the signs say is 1.5 miles from the falls, it was closer to 2 miles from the falls to the Vista points on the cliffs-so worth it however!!
