Trails are still covered in soft spring snow, I found microspikes and poles helpful. Great afternoon hike!

amazing views!

I’m going to have to check this place out. For obvious reasons. I’ll come back and update after I’ve seen it.

Great hike! Didn’t need spikes, but there were some slippery slopes.
Also, Don’t eat the yellow snow

excellent! Took us 3 hours and had excellent views.

The trail starts off easy, the grade then becomes moderate, and after that it reaches an overlook with good views east. From there it is a steep and rocky (but short) climb to the summit, which has a fire tower with excellent views in all directions. The descent route passes several overlooks, as well as Balanced Rock.

Starts off easy, gets steeper, with a few stone staircases, the grade eases at the end. There are great, 360 degree views on the summit, stretching up and down the Green Mountains and the Worcester Range. The last time I went, it was 85 degrees (on Memorial Day Weekend) so it was far less enjoyable. However, it is generally an excellent hike.

Spikes, my two kids, two dogs, amazing view from summit.

Icy (wear spikes) but fun to slide on the way down! Super windy at the peak.

Incredible views. Best hike I have done on the east coast yet!

Fun hike with a great view at the beginning and the top. Very icy though, even with microspikes we had some gnarly spills on certain segments.

Fantastic views

took the fire tower trail up and 9/10 of the way up 2 ppl from our group turned around because it was very steep and icy. 4 of us made it past the ice. if your not the most experienced I recommend the ridge trail. the ridge trail also had better views. top of the fire tower was amazing.

Nice hike in the winter. A bit of scrambling to get up to the falls. After you pass the falls it's really just a flat forest road. In the winter seems like a snowmobile trail as well.

We snowshoed up this trail. There was a good amount of snow cover and it was very icy in spots, so you may need crampons. The views at the top are stunning!

Beautiful.

Short trail, little squishy in some areas but boards laid down on the trail helps. Have to climb at the end of the trail to get the best view of the falls.

Just got off the mountain around 4pm today. We went up the Fire Tower Trail (steep/scramble only near the top). It had a fresh coat of powdered snow on top of the existing ice, so we needed our Yak Traks the whole way. Poles are a good idea on this loop, they came in very handy. We took the Ridge Trail down, which was a very adventurous trail through the woods. .

5-star for the waterfall! In Summer you can walk through the steam to the falls.
3-star for this trail. We just walked the “trail” up past the falls (12/1017) in light snow. Gorgeous views of the falls, but the trail is a simple walk in the woods. No vista at the end, and no designated end point. The trail goes on.... so my advice is to explore around the falls primarily.

Winter conditions for sure. So beautiful!

The trailhead is inside of Elmore State Park not the private drive that google routes you to.

Ice conditions especially the fire tower trail. Definitely recommend shoe spikes. Very hard without. Ridge trail is doable with normal shoes.

Great climb. Many icy spots, especially towards the top. I would recommend the climb, but with caution.

We really enjoyed this hike, the transition from maple forest to evergreen to finally stunted bonsai pines near the summit was exsquiste, the last 3rd was a steep climb. The lower third was a little messy, with creeks flowing through much of the trails despite numerous breakwaters in the trail, the 2nd 3rd was predominatly icy, where these flow had frozen, but with proper traction strap ons this was not an issue, the top 3rd was hard pack snow, with some ice. The summit was crusted ice, with blowing snow, and cloud.

We ascended the Burrows trail intending to descend the forest city trail, we made it to the summit but trail marking for the long trail was poor to non existent on the summit in these conditions. There were no rock cairns to mark the trail that we could see, what blazes there were on the rock (We saw only one) were painted in white, WHITE!!!! Lol.

There were a few white string markers that seemed to lead off a cliff. So in the end we were not able to either discern or proceed along the long trail, and retraced our steps down t (he Burrows trail.

We encountered only one other hiker that day, on the same trail, no other tracks at the summit from other trails at about 1pm. The one fellow we met said that he despite several trips to the summit has yet to figure out what happens to the long trail either... he also retraced his steps.

Our ascent took 2 hours, and the descent 1.5 hours at a relaxed pace. Will try again under different conditions, and maybe build a cairn or tow on the summit if we can crack the code

Starting to get icy near the summit so be mindful. Took about 3 1/2 hours to complete at a fast pace. Very beautiful views at the summit.

Great hike, moderate pace took about 3 hours. Trail has some ice spots so be mindful.

Sunrise hike was a bit nippy this morning. Icy on the top— added to the adventure!

Had beautiful views all the way up. Just be careful about going on a windy day. The wind will be severe at the top. My friend and I were very nervous and unable to enjoy the views like we had hoped. I would definitely go back again. One of my favorite hikes by far.

Great hike. Did it with my 20 lb terrier a Saturday morning in October. The dog loves it and was able to ascend off leash as we didn't see any other hikers until just below the summit. Unfortunately can't speak for views as it was overcast when we went but the immediate views around the trail still pleasurable.

Also a Great less trafficked alternative to other area hikes
