Lovely view, good cardio, solid easy to follow trail but too crowded for my taste.

Would be a 5-star trail if it wasn’t so overcrowded. Once up top you have to wait 5-10 minutes just to catch a glimpse of the canyon because of all the glamour and selfie photography. Really is breathtaking though. The hike up is long and hard . Don’t underestimate the hike down as it’s steep and never seems to stop!

This hike is awesome but IMO it’s not moderate it’s actually about 4.2 miles one way and your almost doing 3,000 feet of elevation gain. It’s strange this is rated moderate when angles landing is rated hard. The only thing I can think of is that’s due to Angles Landing’s chain section that is not really for kids or people afraid of cliffs. Anyway the view up top is amazing and if your going for sunset watch the time so you don’t miss the last bus (10pm) and of course bring a headlight as I had to guide another group down as they had no light.

This is a rough hike, but absolutely worth it. Make sure you're there as early as possible, and bring lots of water. the switchbacks are harsh climbing, so trekking poles are a good idea. The views from the top are unbeatable, however. It will take you a good 5 hours or so, 6 if you take it slow and easy.

Beautiful reward but the hike is hard. It took us about 5 hours round trip. The first switchbacks are easier than the second which are very steep. The last half mile is flat, but it’s all sand so still not the easiest.

a little more crowded than I like but beautiful views

Got to the parking lot before sunrise and we were the third car there. On return the lot was full. Get there early. Great hike with wonderful rock formations along the trail and super views at the end. Starts a little steep but flattens quickly. We got to the view point just as the canyon was beginning to glow with the sunrise. There is some exposure but with a little precaution you should be fine

A long steep trek up the canyon wall, but the views get better at every turn. There is a slight respite while going through Echo Canyon. The walls close in around you and the sandstone formations are beautiful. After Echo Canyon it’s back to the climb and increased exposure but nothing too bad. A short walk along the plateau and you arrive at the best views of Zion Canyon as you look down on Angels Landing. The long descent can be tough on the legs but worth the effort

The best hike at Zion! Start early and bring water. 90% of the trail is switchbacks. Took around 4-5hrs (hiking time), but who is counting, just get to the top. Worth every step!

Amazing Views! Take your camera and water!

Best hike in Zion!!

Go early before 8am or after 5pm if you want to be more alone. Gorgeous views. Easy short hike.

Difficult with lots of climbs and switchbacks, pretty long trail. But the scenery is beautiful along the way, and observation point is beautiful!

solid hike that will get the blood pumping on the way up and the reward at the top is worth the work. lots of people and the trail is mostly sand or sand covered rock, not particularly enjoyable on a steep incline/decline.

This was our first encounter with Zion and we loved it. If you start by 7:30am you will be in the shade the whole time.

Loved this amazing hike truly beautiful and amazing views all around. Take water and snacks. Start your hike as early as possible and enjoy.

Great short hike located near the Lodge and Visitor Center on the North Rim. Amazing lookout at the end of the trail. Don't forget to climb atop the rocks at the end to see the Geographical Survey. Also there a few nice rock outcrops that you climb on that may be less crowded once people start showing up.

Incredible views! Top elevation 6,508. Trail mostly concrete switch backs. Heavy traffic on trail start early. Trams start at 6:00am, or have someone drop you off at Weeping Rock.
Bring flashlights/headlamps sunrise 7:00am in September.
Zion Park a must on life’s journey.

A quick and easy hike on the drive in from Bryce. Great view from the overlook at the end.

Gorgeous easy hike, did this one just before sunrise, and hiking up in the dark then back down once it was light was like doing two different trails. Pretty and really nice!

Lots of shade nice trail with a beautiful ending.

Ok hike. Stream at the bottom was nice.

not a single boring step, constant development of views and scenery. rated as moderate, however if you start early I would argue it was more on the easy side as the sun and heat is really what gets you. I saw every age from 4-75 on the trail and all weight classes too :-) it was great!!

amazing hike. very well marked. have to just follow the paved trail. must see.
i started at 2 pm since I reached later in zion on labor day weekend. carried lots of water. view was worth all the efforts.
there is no water fountain at start of this trailhead. Also if you want to have something to eat do stop at visitor stop before this trail start.

Trail Description:
- This hike is mostly switchbacks and pretty steep.
- The first half is mostly shaded, while the last 2 miles or so have little to no shade.
- START EARLY! I did this over Labor Day weekend 2018, and by about 10am it was already 90 degrees.
- Angels Landing is curently closed, which will cause more crowds at other popular trails like this one. Another reason to start early.
- I am in average shape and it took me about 4 hours. However, I started early, so it will likely take longer if you start later when it's hotter.

Pros:
- Excellent views the whole way
- Overlooks Angels Landing
- Less crowded than Angels Landing (when it is open)

Cons:
- Parts of the trail are very narrow, which makes it difficult to pass hikers coming the opposite way or slower hikers in front of you.
- Gets crowded quickly. Another reason to start as early as you can. The later it gets, the more difficult it is to snag a pictures with no other people in it.
- Little shade for half the trail and at the top.

Great hike! We started this morning around 6:45 to beat the crowds and sun. Hang out at the top for about an hour as well. Amazing views and all around hike. Saw plenty of wildlife as well. Highly recommend this trail.

It’s not that great and plenty of families and old folks on the trail. We did it today after we finished Observation Point.

Very easy hike, not much to see. Paved trail.

beautiful trip. starting from the area where the bus leaves you it is around 8 miles. highly suggest to leave early in the morning to avoid the sun and the hot. it is takes around 4 hrs round trip although they scare you by saying 6. the view at the top is amazing. pay attention to the weather. if raining it might be slippery.
