Just attempted this route with my wife, 2 kids and 2 dogs. had to abandon half way around due to route been flooded and routes so muddy. one saving grace is that it had been icey, but many parts defrosted. would not attempt in winter. some of the route will have changed due to houses been built.

Lovely walk, did this yesterday (05/01/20). Very good description on here, easy to follow and well signposted. Bit muddy but expected for time of year. Nice, easy, circular route. Beware of all the dog muck on the first field, loads of it. No bins until the end of walk.

Really, really enjoyed this walk today! Read the reviews beforehand and saw Ben Shinglers about going out by the riverside first for an easier return. So that’s what we did. My Mums been trying to build up her fitness last year but hasn’t been out for about a month. She managed this really well! So she was very pleased with herself! Will def do this again in the summer! The Gardner’s Arms which is half way round was a lovely pub for a quick drink and toilet stop! Worlds End pub was closed for lunch when we got back so drove 2 miles to The Kestrel! Was really nice!

This is a really nice walk if you want something that's a reasonable length, fairly quiet and plenty of opportunity to let your dog off the lead. The walk is made up of quiet lanes, fields and a good portion running aside the river Nidd. It tired our Spaniel out... briefly!

Good walk, easy to build in short cuts for the kids. Nice woods, where the dogs can be off lead

Great for running with the dogs

We were staying in Harrogate for New Year so we walked from Harrogate to Knaresborough, and did the walk which was very muddy in places. When we reached the Gardeners Arms we had a welcome pint and turned right to walk back through Bilton and back into Harrogate. About 18km/ 12 miles. A good walk which shook off the New Years party! !

This is a great trail, few steep hills and very muddy but a great day out with the dogs

nice walk along farm tracks with short sections through woodland. great views of castle Howard as you skirt around the perimeter of the grounds

This is a really great walk and not too challenging. The trail offers fantastic views for most of the duration, and includes a scenic section right by the river Derwent. We were lucky as it was a cold, frosty November morning so much of the ground was frozen, but I can see that a lot of the trail would be quite muddy during wet months. Bring your wellies!

Very muddy and sludgy during my walk on 20th November as it was just after all the heavy rain but i didn’t find it off putting, so perfect for the dog as it’s got fields to throw balls/sticks and wooded areas for sniffing and exploring. Only problem was half way round you have to walk down a very small but busy country road with no path. Great walk!

Great trail. Dogs can run free for most of it though need to ensure on lead where sheep are grazing. Parts of the trail can be waterlogged one autumn and winter

A really great walk! The only negative was the planks on the wooden walkways have quite large gaps between each one, our Weimaraner & Vizla kept getting their paws stuck between & we were concerned that they might hurt a leg. Other than that, we all really enjoyed it :)

Medium route with good mixture of on and off road walking. For an easier return head out along the river. Nice stop off at the pub half way.

nice pleasant dog friendly walk

Great views, tough going in places with lots of assents and deserts, very rewarding though

Lovely walk around the grounds. Note, you don't need to pay to get into the grounds to do this walk.

Nice walk but the river bank is difficult to get down to
