This was a beautiful loop, even in the middle of the summer. The creeks were dried up but still plenty to see. He cautious of the multitudes of bikes on the trail. But those we encountered were very friendly. There are a bunch of forks in the trail that give a lot of options, Bob's Trail was our favorite part of the loop, I recommend leaving this trail for the end of the hike for the surprise of beauty!

Great family hike, took the 2 mile loop which has a lot of pretty flowers and views. Good to be out of the smoke and heat of Boise. It started to get hot on the back trail without a lot of trees.

Awesome trail!!!

Loved this trail! Lots of wildflowers along the way and well marked. Parts of the trail are in full sun, however, the majority of the trail was shaded with trees - perfect when hiking in the hot summer for 8 miles :)

Very pleasant hike. Several spots had amazing views. Good variety in the available views.

This trail is great! definitely going to do this at least once a week

Nice trail and one of the few close to Boise that allows you to get up into the trees for the whole hike. We went on a Saturday in late June and there was very heavy traffic. Beware of mountain bicyclists. Most are cautious and courteous, but there are lots of blind turns in the forest and occasionally they get moving too fast.

Beautiful!

This trail was fantastic, but for a couple of chubby old ladies, it really kicked our butts. We're definitely coming back to do it again though! VERY beautiful!

Great trail, muddy after some rain, so do stay off the trails then! Lots of mountain bikers that kept passing. Please always call out ahead of time if you are biking with hikers, thanks!

Coyotes reported on trail June 2018. Be careful with your dogs. Fish and wildlife think there is a den there with pups. When gown, probably less of a problem.

Good, clean fun. A solid trail.

Great trail, well marked, moderate/heavy traffic on weekends, well behaved dogs are accepted/allowed off leash. Not really a loop, definitely an out and back. Plan for some time spent exploring and climbing Stack rock and the surrounding formations!

Great trail, easy to follow. Not too much steep incline or decline, so the length isn’t so bad. Took us about 3 hours including a couple pauses and a stop to eat. We saw lots of flowers, and many interesting critters (mostly of the bug variety, but also some lizards, small mammals, and a couple of snakes, including a rattler). Most of the trail is along a burbling brook, which is very pleasant sounding, though it’s fairly covered in vegetation, so you don’t see much of the water. When you get to the loop, going right will avoid a steep incline, go left if you’d rather do more incline and avoid a steep decline.

Nice! Keep following trail to Freddie’s Stacked rock as there’s some side trails. Easy hike. If I can do it, so can you.

My kids and I walked this trail today. It was amazing!! We saw so much wildlife, which made my kids excited. I can’t wait to go again!!

Absolutely gorgeous trail. Went really early and there was no one on the hike up and then started to pass people on our way back. Beautiful views and the trail was easy to follow. Definitely doing it again.

Burnt Car trail is poorly marked and we struggled finding the trailhead. We had to hike to the back of the subdivision, walk through a construction area, and follow the map on our phones. It seems to be an abandoned dirt road that takes you through a gate about a mile in stating "Private Property". There are other trails close by that we saw, and we might try those in the future.

Fun easy hike.

if you’re feeling up to it, take the extension! It’s about a 4 mile loop — lots of beautiful wildflowers and shade along the trail. Beware, the road up to the trailhead is closed until June 13, so until then, you’ll have to hike an extra 2 miles in each way (though if you have time, the hike in is also quite beautiful — Park at the Pioneer Condos and take some of the ski trails up to Schafer Butte.

It is a beautiful trail and best if you start early. There are wonderful flowers blooming all the way and the sound of flowing water makes it relaxing as well as fun. The lower hulls gulch Is very easy hike and to make it a bit fun you can hike up to the top of 8th street trail.

First timer to the trail. Found my way easily. Lots of road noise for the first mile or so, but it fades out into the sounds of the forrest and is serene and beautiful. I have seen the trail described as relatively flat on some websites, so was a bit surprised at how often and how much elevation changes on this trail. Water. Sunscreen. Bug Repellant. You won't get to see the stack often, and it kindof sneaks up on you at the top and when you suddenly see it, it is breathtaking! The trail with the full Freddy's loop took me about 4.5 hours, but I stopped to do some climbing at the stack. I would like to do it again in the fall when the aspens change. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is TRAFFIC. Very popular trail!

We did this hike on Memorial Day so it was very busy, but really nice! I would definitely recommend checking out the view once you get to the top before the rock. The trail flattens out then it's on the left. We saw a rattlesnake while on this trail near the top.

Read in the Bogus Basin Summer Activities and Trails pamphlet that MTBProject.com ranked this trail as #1 in Idaho and one of the top 40 in the nation, so I figured I’d try it out. Number 1 it is. I hike and bike trails in Boise all the time and this was by miles the best one yet. Beautiful single track for bikers and hikers. The views are those that photographers dream of. The trail itself is very well maintained. And as it says, this is a moderate trail. There’s some easy parts and some where it gets kinda technical. The climbs are excellent, not too easy but not too difficult. There’s some downhill and Bogus even threw in about a dozen berms to add more fun to the experience. The drain off from the snow flows onto the trail, but the people at Bogus are so damn smart, they decided to make rock bridges so the trail doesn’t get eroded and keeps it looking natural. Near the end when you come up to Pioneer Lodge, you can stay on this trail or go onto another. I went onto another trail which was an experience in and of itself.

If I could give 10 stars, I would do it in a heartbeat!! Great ride today. Looking forward to my next ride on this trail

It was our first time here and didn’t really know what to expect. It was a beautiful day and the trail is in great shape, easy to navigate and understand the signs. We had a good time. Make sure you take plenty of water !!

My wife and I hiked this trail for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. The forest trails and the wild flowers were beautiful. Overall the trail was well marked and moderately easy for a couple of 60 somethings. The views from Stack Rock were really rewarding.

Great trail..... amazing views!

Super fun loop. You forget where you are. Start at parking lot and get 11 miles total.
