It’s a short hike but with all that mud and roots, feels like much more! Fun challenge, even when unprepared. The bath at the bottom is worth the struggle of getting there. DEFINITELY recommend grabbing a walking stick. Little known secret, there is a spot adjacent to the entrance of the trail up top that has ropes tied to trees that you can rappel down the side of the mountain in about half the time. There is a sign saying not to use that route but... that’s up to you. Overall a fun adventure- just be prepared to get dirty!

Was on the easy side of moderate rained about 1/2 of the hike can be slippery in spots so be prepared to get muddy

beautiful trail with some parts to get your heart pumping haha.

We did this hike with a toddler in a backpack.

We did not have 4WD so had to walk along the muddy road to get to the trail head. No biggie... just make sure to allow for time.

A good portion of the trail is covered. Quite open and very hot closer to the top.

Great views and some cool little spots for the nugget to explore.

Got caught in heavy rain on the way back on the road. I imagine parts of this trail would be very slick when wet.

We did this hike with a toddler in tow (in a backpack). We managed to get our rental car part way along the gravel, muddy road. We walked the rest of the road to a little beach. (A great spot for a snack and to play in the water - which we did on the way back).

The road was very wet and muddy. Be prepared to get your shoes wet!

We continued from the beach to the rock quarry and to Mokolea point.

There were lots of really cool things for the baby to see along the way. It did get a little sketchy out along the rocks but worth it. I’m not too sure how far out we hiked ... but we were not disappointed.

This was a great “go exploring” trail right beside the bird refuge.

USE A WALKING STICK! I don’t know how people did it without one. Super muddy. Super slick. But WORTH IT IN THE END!!

Awesome site to come play in.

A must do on the road to Hana!

One of the most amazing experiences of my life! Walking around the lush Maui forest in the rain through a massive Banyan tree, waterfalls, a bamboo forest that sounded like music az it swayed in the wind and rain, all kinds of Eucalyptus, including Rainbow Gum, which is my favorite.

There are steep areas, wet and slippery areas, and lots of mud so come prepared. Many areas are not accessible.

I’ve done this hike in 2014 and 2016. It goes through a cool bamboo forest and leads to a final waterfall. It is usually moderately crowded. The drive on the Road to Hana is half the fun, but I’d say don’t miss the cool side hikes. This is one I’d plan on doing bc it’s Haleakala National Park at the end of the road as a last stop before where most people turn back with their rental cars.

Very slippery, prepare to get muddy!

cool short trail down muddy, slippery root filled trail. maybe challenging for those concerned about trips n falls or uncomfortable with unsure footing. found it easier to walk in pot hole puddles on way down, although some are almost knee deep. way up was able to rock n root hop pretty easily. coast n breaking waves very scenic and easy to scramble left at bottom a short ways to queens bath, but too high surf to swim. although I'm tourist, several tourists made me nervous for them as they wandered out to edge of breaking waves for a picture. several waves breaking could easily have swept them out had they watched the spot they were posing for a few minutes.

Did not hike so I cant speak about the hike.
$16.85 to hike.
perhaps we missed access point for trail hike?

Love this trail! Hiked to the falls with my grandson on my back. We both really enjoyed the trek. Diverse terrain, scenic views, and bamboo forests.

Great hike with my 12 and 9 year olds.

Nice payoff at the end! Wish we could have gone swimming but with two little kiddos it didn’t seem prudent. Beautiful though and we saw sea turtles.

Trail is definitely slick and messy! My 7 and 5 year olds are experienced hikers but it was challenging at points for them.

Snapped this pic of a fellow hiker (bearded brunette with red pack) and forgot to tell
Him! Will post here!

The parking only has 11 spots, so plan accordingly. Do NOT park on the street or you will get a ticket and possibly towed.

The trail down is awesome. Only about a 10-15 minute walk but it gets pretty vertical and slippery. We recommend good shoes. You may need to use the ropes going up or down.

Once on the beach, if you’re adventurous, you can climb the rocks to the right and get to your own secluded beach but it’s dangerous. Do NOT go on the rocks if the waves are big.

Great snorkeling and lots of fish and turtles. For videos go to: YouTube/TheAdventureTravelers

Very muddy but the pools are amazing

Lots of great scenery and not too strenuous. Bamboo forest section is awesome. Will likely want water shoes for the last bit to get to the base of the falls

This was a beautiful hike. However we went a day or so after it rained pretty hard and it was extremely muddy. That made this trail much more difficult. Without that it would not have been bad. There are a few steep climbs. The sad thing was when we reached the peak of the canyon the fog had rolled in and we couldn’t see anything. The waterfall at the end was worth it though.

The view is amazing!

My wife and I were only able to get to the bamboo forest before time constraints made us turn back around. Definitely worth it up to that point though! A beautiful waterfall with an even better one at the end (as seen in pictures) and the bamboo forest is like another world! Really cool looking tree in between the first waterfall and bamboo, like something from a fantasy movie!

An astonishingly beautiful hike. The trail is mostly downhill through root-lined switchbacks, which is great on the way down, but definitely save some energy for the hike back.

The trail opens up on a wide cliff ledge with sweeping views of the canyon before continuing on to two waterfalls. The smaller of the two hides behind a rocky scramble, but the true gem of the hike is a few yards away. A short, easy scramble places you atop of Waipoo falls, with the canyon opening up far below you.

If you have a drone, definitely send it out for one of the most amazing views you will ever see.

Can’t wait to get back when there are lower tides. The trail can be slick but just be careful

nice trail. it was tough for me not for my hubby. the falls were small but pretty. killer hill workout.

Absolutely one of the best hikes on Maui. You can go to the base of a 400 foot waterfall after walking through a bamboo forest. Just difficult and long enough to make it interesting, but not too taxing. Don’t miss doing it if you visit Maui.

Decided to check out the waterfall today, it was a nice walk through the forest, took about 20 minutes to reach the waterfall and went for a dip.
The water was crispy cold but it’s something you should definitely do!!

Very pretty enjoyable hike. The waterfall is gorgeous at the end. The trail was heavily trafficked on the Sunday we went.

Getting down and up is an adventure. Using ropes on steep, slippery ground. Wouldn’t take anyone with bad knees on this one. I used my Vivobarefoot hiking/water shoes and they worked well. Not sure if I would use flip flops, although people were walking down in theirs.

At the steepest points I used the ropes and climbed down backwards as if I was repelling and that was fun!

Beach is not as crowded which was nice. The parking lot is small, and parking is very limited. We just got lucky and on our second attempt someone was leaving so we got their spot.

A handful of people were snorkeling, and when I went out to join them I noticed a giant sea turtle.

It hung around for awhile, and I kept my distance; noticing it eat, and watched all the beautiful fish swim around it. Would definitely come back!!

cash grab. free parking to the beach if you do not mind the walk.
