Awesome trail! Allowed us to get out of the car for a couple hours and stretch our legs on the 11 hour drive home from Myrtle Beach to Northeast Ohio. It was a bit crowded but the trail itself was challenging and fun! Hidden gem in NC!

One of my favorite hiking spots. Never crowded. Trails come back into the center of the park in several locations so your hike can be as short or as long as you wish.

Potentially a very beautiful trail with convenient access. The trail had trash everywhere and orb weaver webs across it were constant, which required me to wave a stick out in front of me for the hike. Perhap recent heavy rains brought the trash down from elsewhere and resulted in little recent use, thus the spiderwebs. Regardless, it wasn't as pleasant as it should have been.

Amazing view

My friends and I completed this hike in May. It takes you to a beautiful overlook. You will not see much on the hike up, but since it’s a relatively short hike, the view is absolutely worth it. We went early and had the overlook to ourselves for some time.

Not much to see here, but sometimes getting into a silent environment cleanses the soul better than searching for wildlife or hunting for selfies in front of a rock face. Docile and quiet, and a good option for trail running - hard packed and flat, with nary a root or stone to send an ankle in the wrong direction. Google Maps initially took us into a neighborhood that backed up to the trail parking lot but was not accessible. Be sure to take Church St. off of 150 down about 2 miles to the Haw River State Park Iron Ore entrance (on the right). Nice parking area with sparse bathrooms.

I’ve done this trail a couple times and it has amazing views. The first time there was only a couple people on the trial, but this last time the trail was packed ( it was also a holiday weekend). The trail is well kept and easy to follow. This last time I took my 4 year old up it and it took about an hour each way with his little feet.

Not even hiking. It's just really good walking track. The view on the summit is amazing :)

A most favorite place to be. Walk, run, sit, paint, sketch, photograph, walk the dog.

Nice easy hike for an afternoon outing. Stairs can be a little slick at the bottom.

Great trail. Spectacular view.

The island was pretty cool and worth the walk but overall just an average trail with not much scenic interest. There is a parking fee for out of state residents.

Great trail, view is amazing, but a little too short for my taste.

Wonderful views. Can't wait to go back. Go early to beat some of the crowd!!

Great short hike with the upper cascades making it worthwhile. You can just view the cascades or get in the creek and play.

The Rock Garden Trail is a neat sensory type trail. Great paved surface!

The best trail in the park in my opinion. The day I hiked it was super foggy/rainy so views from the summit were zero. The fog up there made it feel like being in a cloud, so it was still very neat.

Did a 4.5 mile loop - pretty shaded

came here on my first trip to North Carolina. was an amazing hike and well worth the drive

Boring trail! 3.7 miles of dirt trail. no water or other features.

Fun and easy with a beautiful view. Would love to go back in the fall and see all the trees.

Amazing views!!! We had a lot of fun exploring the different trail options. Be sure to check out the waterfalls!

Great for riding horses. Great short day trail!

Nice short hike with a great payoff at the end. Most of the path is just gravel through woods. Wooden platform overlook and stairs down to the base of the waterfall. Small area to walk around in the water. Perfect for small kids too.

Very smooth trail for beginners

I love how I’m the only one there every time I go .. it’s a little creepy with the twisted growth and shadows .. can’t wait to go in the fall

Not too long of a hike, but gets steep and challenging right at the top. BEAUTIFUL views from multiple lookout points - and great photo opportunities at hanging rock!

very good trail, I made the mistake of having to many drinks the night before and it made the trail a little bit tougher
