beautiful day for a hike. Definitely need yak tracks. the view at the top was spectacular today!!

We hiked up today (nov 12). It was a nice thin snow cover but very icy towards the top. Pretty low elevation gain and not too difficult besides the ice. The view on the top of the fire tower was beautiful and panoramic. I would recommend crampons and or sticks if you are going later in the winter but we made out just fine in backpacking boots in early nov. perfect for a quick day hike

good hike with pup.
nothing difficult

Absolutely beautiful hike, it can get intense at some points closer to the pinnacle but it’s worth every bit. Best time to go is the first week of October.

Loved this trail! Views from the top (and middle) are beautiful and worth the semi-challenging trail. Additional fun: Two local golden retrievers with bells and tags met us at the bottom and took us all the way to the top, no owners. We learned from some locals on the trail that these amazing pups have been on that trail for years and are sweet and brave, which we found out!

Be sure to bring proper mountain shoes for the hike! Great view, really worth the hour and half hike!

So pretty in the fall! Great view at the top. Great hike for kids (7, 5, 5, 5, 3).

Follow long trail south to the gulch, and for that matter, the gulch lies beyond the graphic trail shown here. We did an out and back on the Long Trail because we could not find the loop (Babcock) shown on the eastern side. Nice trail, impressive Gulch.

Perfect day. The stream was rushing wild. Needed more time to explore the lower falls. Foliage was past peak but still spectacular!

Beautiful sites at the top. Definitely a challenging incline. Could be done in a few hours. Overall very fun.

I did today 10-30. Lots of ice at the beginning then snow. It was windy. Very windy. From bottom of notch road by the new Boardwalk on Stowe side I started there so w the up and down and back to my car 4 hours. only one sketchy spot at the very beginning of actual trail. I used poles and my Yaktrax. I always use poles. Some deep snow around the pond area in some spots. Very fun hike today. I saw no one. ONE MAN GATHERS WHAT ANOTHER MAN SPILLS.

A rewarding steady-steepness hike to a wonderful view. I went 4 stars instead of 5 as the summit is shared with the gondola station for the ski area, so it lacks a bit of the pure pristine wilderness feel that I prefer. The wind at the summit seems to be ever-present, so bring layers and be attentive to the hourly weather forecast, as conditions at the top can be quite different from those at the trailhead or in the forest that covers most of the trail.

I did this today. 28 degrees rain Iicey snow sleet precipitation. Some really sketchy spots at the very top just before the fire tower. Lots of very thick ice. Danger Will Robinson The fire tower was covered in ice. Probably not a good move on my part and ; coming down was freeking treacherous Whole thing took about 2.25 hours. ONE MAN GATHERS WHAT ANOTHER MAN SPILLS.

October 25 18 - some snow on the trail which made it a little slippery but doable. Our first time on the trail and it was very well marked with blue paint. Highly recommend driving past the "Trout club private property" signs until the end of the road. There is a public parking lot for the hiking trail.

Nice walk in the fall

Great hike, was windy and snowing-the shelter made for a nice place to get out of the wind to have a snack and a rest before heading back. The trail is well marked and easy to navigate. There were some beginning patches of ice right at the ledge where the ladder is, so tread easy!

Well marked, great views, peaceful and little traveled. A little scrambly at the end but otherwise good footing. Definitely uphill, but nothing too steep. We made the same mistake many others did and thought we were at the top,but were just at a false summit. Trailhead is just a short way down an unmarked road just across from the Boy Scout camp at the end of lake eden

Really nice!!

Beau sentier, un peu déçu du point de vue. Trop de randonneurs quand j'y suis allée, c'était bruyant.

Excellent hike and view!!

Gorgeous hike but with snow and freezing weather (oct 18) the trail almost entirely iced over and was extremely slippery. Completed in just under an hour and a half. Would have been much quicker in warmer conditions or with crampons.
The lake is gorgeous and sooo serene.

Awesome

Really nice day hike. The bottom half is fairly gradual through some beautiful forests, then the second half gets more rocky, steep and technical. Nothing seriously dangerous, but it makes for great views and some fun scrambling. I took the dog, and she made it up just fine without much help, but older dogs may have trouble.

Trail has been relocated near the top (after the upper Jenny/Ratllesnake intersection), adding 1/3 mile in each direction, winding up towards the Oak Ridge trail then back to the cliff overlook. New section is fairly steep, and was a bit slippery when I visited. Still, a great payoff at the end with amazing views of Lake Dunmore, Silver Lake, the Moosalamoo woods, and the Champlain Valley.

One of my favorite hikes in VT! The first half is easy. The second half not so easy! Amazing views at the top!

Nice trail and nice view!

Most of the Faulkner trail was closed (through mid-November). Detour took us on the Lowe Link trail. The detour was steeper than Faulkner but we enjoyed that even more. Beautiful views!

Please note... For parking if you see the "Private Property" sign, keep going. The Trout Club has signs up everywhere, but you can bypass the sign to park. We did not, parked in the lower lot and walked 1 mile to the trail head.
The hike was pretty easy for the first mile or so and it became a steady increase in incline. Lots of beautiful sights. Plenty of brooks for my dog to drink from. There is a nice waterfall before you get to the lodge. The view is not awesome at the lodge, but do they fret -- walk out and up a tiny bit for a beautiful sight! There's a map at the lodge. The trail marked with no milage, follow it!
Our friends 10 year old daughter came and had no issues!

Great hike. Started out around 1030 am and finished after 2pm, all at a casual pace with our dog. Coming down the Fire Tower Trail was a little dicey for the dog with all the mud, but we all enjoyed it!
