Guided tour. Amazing place :-)

We did this hike with Ranger Vicky (she is really brilliant) and the hike was amazing.

It was one of our favorite national Park hikes. The hike guide book provided at the museum near the trailhead was helpful to learn about things along the hike. Super fun with a few narrow squeezes through rocks along the trail, cool caves, great grippy sandstone, a juniper forest, thousands year old history, etc.

This is a short easy trail over sand and compacted dirt. There’s some scrambling (if you want) over rocks at the arch. It’s beautiful!

Amazing beautiful...another tick on my bucket list

Only down fall was sooo many people. It would be nice if they took a pic in the arch and let some one else take some.

A special arch

This trail was a bit challenging but very pretty. I was very happy we chose to do it.

Hike was great and trail well marked. Definitely remember it is an impacted 26 mile venture from the turn off. You will encounter a few deep perpendicular ruts as well as pockets of loose sand along the way. Be careful as a tow truck runs up to a $1000 according to the clerk at the nearest convenience store. Trail well worth the effort.

We hiked up to the arch with 5 kids 11-3. It was beautiful and shaded most of the hike. The only tough part for the kids was a lot of loose rock, but overall we loved it!

Korte wandeling vanaf de parkeerplaats, erg de moeite waard om ze van dichtbij te bekijken

Fun trail, really busy in the beginning, very narrow in some places.

Be aware the gate you pass through at the beginning of the hike is LOCKED once the "area closes" at 6:30pm so you cannot return the way you came, you must complete the full loop. There are signs that say they area closes, but not that the gate will be locked and you'll have to walk miles to get out another direction if you had decided to come back the way you came. Under normal circumstances, of course complete the loop and all is well, but if someone had a twisted ankle, bad weather pops up, people get dehydrated/tired, anything, it's a bit strange you can't go back the way you came if it was shorter. More furstrating, the two rangers sitting at the trailhead didn't take the time to tell us this as we started the trail at about 5:30pm (they just asked if we got the brochure identifying the plants), would have made our time a lot nicer as we did end up having to turn around and the ranger was yelling down to us that we were going the wrong way and she was needing to lock the gate as it was 6:25pm. Weird experience in a national park, and was concerned for some of the families with young children we saw out who were considering turning around, now that I know they wouldn't have been able to get out that way.

Easy trail with beautiful views throughout. Took the kids and they enjoyed the petroglyphs and views of the ruins from afar.

Must do in Mesa Verde

Definitely start early to beat the heat! Coming back was rough. They mean what they say about the water, drink it all! Some of the most amazing views I have ever seen and up close and personal. Crawling through these sandstone slots was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done. Highly recommend. We want to do Zebra Slot next time!

Side note, the road was over an hour driving in from the Escalante side of Hole in the Rock Rd, and well maintained but more comfortable with a high clearance vehicle for sure !

Beautiful place but sharp rocks on the way make it a very slow hike and a challenge is you’re like us who did it with a bunch of young kids. We also got to the point 2/3 through the hike where we didn’t know where to go as the road seemed to have been blocked by large boulders. I suppose that’s why this hike is labeled as “moderate” difficulty.

This drive is AMAZING! It is unforgettable and I would highly recommend it!

To start get the map for “Cathedral Loop” at Capital Reef’s visitor center. It is a guide for this entire drive and it explains the geology, ecology and history you will want to have to get the most from the trip.

We went in an unmodified Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4x4 and made the whole trip fine in 4 wheel drive. The mucky parts were no issue as long as you don’t stop in them. There were very few mucky parts actually but do check the weather before heading in and do start with the drive through the river because if you can’t make that part you don’t want to leave it for the end and have to turn around and go back 64 miles!!!

What you see in the park does not even compare to what you will see in this loop. We saw 4 vehicles the whole day! We started at 9am at the Visitors Center to zero our trip counter and followed our guide book. We finished at 5:12 PM. Storms are typical in the afternoon so again check that out and carry extra water and food.

Again this trip is totally worth it. I worry now that I will never top this drive! It is that good!

WARNING! You need to purchase a ticket at the main visitors center to access this trail. Which you wouldn’t know unless you stopped at there on the way in and talked to a ranger. If you (like me) skip the visitors center and go straight for trails you would never know. There are no signs or information leading into the park to let you know this. We drove 27 miles to the trailhead just to be told “sorry but you are not allowed access to this trail without tickets, please drive 54 miles round trip to go get them). Which we were willing to do but by the time we made it back to the visitors center they were sold out of “tickets” till late in the afternoon (this was at 8:15am). If you’re not there by 7am don’t waste your times Tickets to go hiking? Never heard of this in my life. Terrible experience.

Great hike and very easy and accessible for all ages.

Our family enjoyed this hike. The arch was beautiful and so was the view under the arch. It was a little steep to get up to the arch but we braved it and no one got hurt. Round trip our phones clocked 2 miles.

A nice hike going along the scenic canyons. The way has some elevation change and involves stepping over rocks. The way back after The petroglyphs is very easy and flat (you walk along the top of a canyon wall most of the way). Overall a pretty easy hike and it’s well worth it to see the ancient petroglyphs carved on the side of the canyon!

This is an easy walk along a dirt path. 4 stars only because I'm not a fan of how they let people climb all over under the arches. I think it should be roped off. We saw so many people up on the rocks, it was impossible to get a photo without them in it. Very cool set of arches though, and will be back some day when there's less people.

Great hike! Probably one of the most amazing hikes I have ever done. Highly recommend starting early. We hiked this trail on a Wednesday and started by 7:30. We were first on the trail but by the time we we're back at the TH there were at least 10 other groups hiking in and a line to climb up in to Peekaboo. We hiked this loop in reverse. Spooky to Peekaboo. Spooky is narrow in spots. if you are a little bigger of a person you may find it challenging to get through. It is litterally only about 11 inches wide in spots. Going in reverse requires some scrambling/quick climbing manuevers but was a fun challenge. Overall an easy and amazing hike! We completed it in 2.25 hours from start to finish.

Double Arch is one of my favorite arches for sure, the walk is super easy but usually pretty busy. A hike for everyone.

Good views. Fun hike. Last half is an easy stroll. Great hike to get acclimated. I would rate easy. Minimal elevation change and no real switchbacks or taxing terrain. Good for families

If you don't mind some bumpy, dusty, remote dirt roads and you have a high clearance vehicle this is a good alternative to a hike, And when you get to the Cathedral Valley, i think that you'll be amazed by the formations.

Short hike but beautiful arches

Amazing if you did a long hike the day before and looking for something quick and easy.

I have a really good memory of my daughter playing on these arches. Nice little hike for a nice spot.
