I picked this hike because of the name...what's Pittsburg doing in Utah?! I didn't research much just read a couple of comments. Luckily I was in a jeep. The long dirt road is very treacherous. You definitely need a high clearance vehicle for this road. Really, don't attempt it without one. Huge boulders in the road. The map took me to the exact right spot (using Apple maps) and then I pulled up the all trails app to find the trail and stay on it. I was wondering how a mile and a half hike could be rated hard and then I did it. Yep. Straight up. I saw no one else on the trail - but it was October and snowy! I was sad to not see a moose and then saw a huge bull moose right at the end!i will definitely go back in the summer and maybe camp overnight. It really was beautiful and worth it.

Love this hike. It’s awesome. The water slide at the end is cool too. Not sure why it’s rated hard though. This is moderate. Don’t be intimidated. It’s pretty trafficked though for sure. One of the best endings though.

Lovely trail to see the fall colors, and the hike is easy/fairly flat with good tree cover and a stream and is dog friendly and wasn’t crowded at all.

About 2 miles up when you approach the sign that points to the waterfall take a sharp left down onto the smaller trail. We thought it was telling us to go straight so we missed the turn off. Took a little over 2 hours round trip

Agreeing with the other poster about this trails rating. Once you cross the river, around the bend there is a rough spot with a lot of boulders. We went while it was wet, and there was no way for us to make it without mud tires. 3 of the 4 keeps behind us turned around and went another route. It is a beautiful, rocky ride. Very heavily travelled and several with trailers beyond where they shouldn’t have been. Most everyone is courteous.

Not a kid friendly trail! this was tough, took me a second to find it and then it was exactly a nice hiking trail. got to the top and wasnt that impressed. nice to waste time but the trip down was rough. the rocks were loose and even my dog had issues.

A beautiful, short hike. Lots of flowers, bees, and birds in the late spring and a few small meadows and lookouts. The main overlook is stunning and there is a flat space at the top perfect for a picnic. There is also a meadow half way up where we relaxed and had some snacks. If you turn off the trail occasionally there are some little overlooks along the way.

A great hike for beginners, kids, and those looking to take a short trip into nature.

Beautiful but brutal hike! Very peaceful at the top.

Almost no traffic. Moderately steep, but my kids did great (6, 8, 11, 13). Great views of Timp, the leaves were in full color.

started around 8 am. Road up to the trail is rough, so dont go without the proper vehicle. On the way up, we only ran into one jeep. Hike up is fine, not too tough but nothing special. The fall scenery once you get to the lake is amazing though. ATVs on the way back down around 1030 ish, but not too bad.

This time of year it’s perfect up there. This is just one of many local trails that’s great for an hour or two on a fall afternoon. The streams wind all over the valley and cross cut each other so every now and then you’ll cross over another little bridge. Also there’s dozens of places to hang a hammock or camp for the night, not sure if that’s permitted here though. I’ll update.

Went horseback riding on trails and gravel roads (?) in Dry Canyon area. Went up the Dry Canyon trail through the cliffs then north on the Curly Springs trail. Heavily used area. Really rocky/gravel/shale covered trails in many areas. Lots of side trails created by mountain bikers. Once out of the cliff area its mostly oak brush with nice views into valley and up canyon towards Mt Timpanogos but I never quite feel like I've left the urban area. Limited shade w/85% exposure to sun. Ok trails if you're looking for a quick get away but nothing worth making a long trip to get here. Typical of Wasatch front foothills scenery.

Beautiful late afternoon hike with fall colors and great views of mountains and valley. Relatively easy and quick hike to summit. Heavily used trail.

Loved this trail. Unfortunately it burned in sept of 2018. who knows when someone will go and replace all the wood bridges. Even if they did it will be a very sad sight for a while.

Beautiful hike. Not much water this time of year. Want to do this in the spring.

This wasn’t a bad hike. It’s definitely not kid friendly so I wouldn’t take your little ones. If you don’t read the description make sure to follow your map. It is easy to get confused. I enjoyed it but won’t do it again..

Beautiful!

I was so looking forward to this trail, but we were unlucky 25 minutes into it a couple (Soldiers - a man and a woman) came back and told us that they just had to escape from two mountain lions who were running down the hill, frightened by something. She had to shoot in the air to make the mountain lions change direction. The woman was shaking so of course we all turned back. I am glad it was not us in front of them

One of my favorite hikes in Utah County. I've probably hiked it 20 times. The Horsetail Falls are spectacular but you need to be very careful on the rock. It's incredibly slippery.

Great views with a relatively easy and short ascent. Some very steep sections toward the end but all in all it is a pretty doable hike. A little hazy still from the fires but the views were still comparable to those you would get on Squaw.

This is labeled an out and back, but more accurate is an up then down. 2 miles straight up with maybe 2 or 3 very short flat sections.

Coming down is no picnic with old knees.

i love this trail but im currently in the hospital because of my last hike there with a broken femur and pelvis to not get into too much detail. the rock is extremely slippery. do no get close to edge if not secure, do not walk on wet rock if not secure. this is one of the most amazing hikes in my life but i almost died because i underestimated some slippery rock

Great hike we did in 2016. Can be strenuous for those not in shape. Kids ages were from 8 to 13. Go on the early summer when the waterfall is at its best!

Beautiful, lots of river crossings and gradual incline!

First part of this hike I'd say 3/4 of a mile kind of boring after that be ready for an adventure. I recommend not giving up on this one. You pretty much are walking in the river most of the time. Very rocky and pretty steep. The waterfall at the end is nothing short of amazing. Its a three drop waterfall. You can climb up to reach the top waterfall very easily but coming down not so much. Watch out for snakes. I did see four on this trail. I must say to the one person who climbed up this hike and wrote some messages on a few rocks near the couch area I know how you feel. Its not easy and don't give up.

How are you peeps finding this trail head? I followed Google maps in my F150 yesterday and the road just turns into an impassible four wheeler trail. I had to turn around and go to silver lake with the rest of Utah county.

Super fun pack light

Great trail to get away from the crowds. And the water temp was perfect for a swim.

Fun little trail with the kids. Loose cows on the trail, so watch for the cow pies. I was surprised at the amount of liter on the trail. Packed out what we could. Beautiful area and easy hike.
