This is rated "HARD" but find it to be intermediate; it shares the same trail for the Dry Creek Trail which is rated Intermediate. Went Mid-November 2018 and it took about 2.5 hours with stops for pictures and taking in the views. Trail was a mix of compacted dirt and some loose rocks so wear shoes with ankle support. Trail was clear of snow and there was only one icy spot about 1/4 mile up past the trailcamp meadow. I was easily able to walk through the brush and avoid it. The dead horse is still on the left of the trail just past the post for the 046 trail (on the right). The horse did not smell and was half buried, however my pup's nose had no trouble finding it. Only docking because the signs for the falls didn't exist.

Beautiful hike with amazing views of Timp. We got some directional help at the top to circle around on the Salamander trail which was perfect.

As advertised, the first mile is very steep but then mellows out. It took me 1 hr 10 minutes up with some snow on the trail (Nov 17) during the last half mile. It snowed all day and the lake was covered in snow. Definitely will do again earlier in the year.

Nice walking trail. Nice and easy. Looked beautiful with all the fall colors

We went in November and the trail was rocky for a good portion of the trail and icy in a couple of spots but mostly dry. The falls leaves were mostly fallen. There was little to no signage to point us toward Horsetail Falls but we veered right at the first two forks and then went down a path to the Lower falls. Spectacular views and wonderful to see at dusk. It took us 2.5 hrs to go up and back.

I loved this hike! It is definitely one of my favorite!

This is a beautiful trail (minus all the horse poop). The signage to the waterfall could be improved! It’s a steep climb but take your time, you will be be rewarded with nature beauty

Easy loop trail with scenic variety of forest, meadow and panoramic views of Timponogos which steal the show. Definitely layer up this time of year, but I was sweating in the sun when protected by the trees. The melting ice also makes the path very muddy and surprisingly slippery, so be careful.

Took the puppers up here today, was a mild hike, views of Timp are amazing, there is a nice mix of shade and openness. It was a quiet trail (Sunday) only came across a couple of people. Was a little muddy in spots from snow melt after the warm weather.

Beautiful hike! Lots of scrambling up the rocks

awesome hike! packed my 9month old and a bag with food and my tenkara fly rod. my wife had a little rough time but did great. The water shed has fish! wild brown trout. they loved the shop vac nymph.

Awesome hike. We loved it. And it was so picturesque. Great place for the teenaged boy to climb around and up the sides of the canyon while younger pre-teens were a little more careful. Made it to the first waterfall with a 3, 9, 11, 12, and 15 year old. There were at least two spots where we literally lifted the younger ones up through the rocks, though. Our 15 year old climbed the rope on the first waterfall and made it to the second one- but there’s no way we all could do that without rock climbing equipment (and one less 3-year old!). Took us about an hour and a half to two hours. We had a lot of fun exploring and climbing around and through the rocks and canyon.

Rocky and not a pretty trail, old atv trail.

I picked this hike because of the name...what's Pittsburg doing in Utah?! I didn't research much just read a couple of comments. Luckily I was in a jeep. The long dirt road is very treacherous. You definitely need a high clearance vehicle for this road. Really, don't attempt it without one. Huge boulders in the road. The map took me to the exact right spot (using Apple maps) and then I pulled up the all trails app to find the trail and stay on it. I was wondering how a mile and a half hike could be rated hard and then I did it. Yep. Straight up. I saw no one else on the trail - but it was October and snowy! I was sad to not see a moose and then saw a huge bull moose right at the end!i will definitely go back in the summer and maybe camp overnight. It really was beautiful and worth it.

Love this hike. It’s awesome. The water slide at the end is cool too. Not sure why it’s rated hard though. This is moderate. Don’t be intimidated. It’s pretty trafficked though for sure. One of the best endings though.

Lovely trail to see the fall colors, and the hike is easy/fairly flat with good tree cover and a stream and is dog friendly and wasn’t crowded at all.

About 2 miles up when you approach the sign that points to the waterfall take a sharp left down onto the smaller trail. We thought it was telling us to go straight so we missed the turn off. Took a little over 2 hours round trip

Agreeing with the other poster about this trails rating. Once you cross the river, around the bend there is a rough spot with a lot of boulders. We went while it was wet, and there was no way for us to make it without mud tires. 3 of the 4 keeps behind us turned around and went another route. It is a beautiful, rocky ride. Very heavily travelled and several with trailers beyond where they shouldn’t have been. Most everyone is courteous.

Not a kid friendly trail! this was tough, took me a second to find it and then it was exactly a nice hiking trail. got to the top and wasnt that impressed. nice to waste time but the trip down was rough. the rocks were loose and even my dog had issues.

A beautiful, short hike. Lots of flowers, bees, and birds in the late spring and a few small meadows and lookouts. The main overlook is stunning and there is a flat space at the top perfect for a picnic. There is also a meadow half way up where we relaxed and had some snacks. If you turn off the trail occasionally there are some little overlooks along the way.

A great hike for beginners, kids, and those looking to take a short trip into nature.

Almost no traffic. Moderately steep, but my kids did great (6, 8, 11, 13). Great views of Timp, the leaves were in full color.

started around 8 am. Road up to the trail is rough, so dont go without the proper vehicle. On the way up, we only ran into one jeep. Hike up is fine, not too tough but nothing special. The fall scenery once you get to the lake is amazing though. ATVs on the way back down around 1030 ish, but not too bad.

This time of year it’s perfect up there. This is just one of many local trails that’s great for an hour or two on a fall afternoon. The streams wind all over the valley and cross cut each other so every now and then you’ll cross over another little bridge. Also there’s dozens of places to hang a hammock or camp for the night, not sure if that’s permitted here though. I’ll update.

Went horseback riding on trails and gravel roads (?) in Dry Canyon area. Went up the Dry Canyon trail through the cliffs then north on the Curly Springs trail. Heavily used area. Really rocky/gravel/shale covered trails in many areas. Lots of side trails created by mountain bikers. Once out of the cliff area its mostly oak brush with nice views into valley and up canyon towards Mt Timpanogos but I never quite feel like I've left the urban area. Limited shade w/85% exposure to sun. Ok trails if you're looking for a quick get away but nothing worth making a long trip to get here. Typical of Wasatch front foothills scenery.

Beautiful late afternoon hike with fall colors and great views of mountains and valley. Relatively easy and quick hike to summit. Heavily used trail.

Loved this trail. Unfortunately it burned in sept of 2018. who knows when someone will go and replace all the wood bridges. Even if they did it will be a very sad sight for a while.

Beautiful hike. Not much water this time of year. Want to do this in the spring.
