This is one of my favorite lakes in the Wasatch. A good all around hike with a fantastic mountain lake at the end, that you can swim in. The trail gets fairly steep in some spots but nothing too bad.

Been working up to this hike for weeks and it’s been the most rewarding Wasatch trail yet. Wouldn’t recommend it for beginners, this is a long and steep hike. Almost at the peak there’s a fantastic viewpoint, which is a worthy stopping point but it gets a bit more technical to the summit. Went in early October, there was some ice and snow on the second half of the trail so be prepared for that.

Steep but totally worth the stellar view!

Great hike to take the pups on with gorgeous views! Would definitely do the hike again on spring and fall! Mostly shaded single track trail with dirt and some boulders throughout. Had a nice quick stream crossing where you walked over some rocks and boulders to keep your feet dry. Almost all the fall leaves were on the ground already so the backdrop had a lot of bare trees. Not too crowded on a Saturday surprisingly. The drive up the road to the trailhead is pretty rocky and rough which was not very fun but the hike and views were well worth it. Parking lot was small so we parked on the roadside. Was glad to see that they honored the National Parks Pass so we didn’t have to pay any fees.

I liked it. Lots of people up to the falls but after the falls it is somewhat steeper and less hikers. Easy trail to follow even through the tall grass in the meadows.

awesome hike! packed my 9month old and a bag with food and my tenkara fly rod. my wife had a little rough time but did great. The water shed has fish! wild brown trout. they loved the shop vac nymph.

This is a fee area- costs $3 per vehicle for an okay hike.

This trail was moderate, the only thing that made it difficult was the snow/ice. You end up sliding all over on the steep climbs because it’s so iced over. Pretty views all the way up and covered in shade. I would love to do this hike in the summer months so it’s not so cold. We did the loop up Thayne’s and down Desolation. Once we started our descent, we came across a fairly large black bear just off the trail-so watch out. Really cool to see him from a distance though. Would recommend to friends

A nice but exposed trail, so wear UV protection. Although, it is short you might bring water with you, especially in the summer months. Great views with Latter-day Saint historical significance. There's a memorial on top.

11 miles for the loop NOT 8!!

Would do again, but only Little Wild Horse in and out. Glad I did the loop once though.

Great views, great hike

Great trail to take the pup out on! Keep an eye out for the moose about 1/2 way up. He loves to hang out in the thicket by the pines.

hiked it with a bunch of teenagers. A great trail to take beginners and those who normally struggle with hiking

Very nice trail, muddy with snowmelt.

So beautiful and so worth it!

My husband and I and Scout dog completed this hike on October 13.

The trailhead is easy to find, but I with the trail was better marked because there are some places to turn off. We used to app to double-check where we were several times.

The trail was pleasant, part pavement part dirt, with some undulating hills. Part of the trail is an off-leash dog area, and we enjoyed seeing all the doggos enjoying their Saturday morning. There's also a stream for them to play in.

Another warning.... THERE IS POISON OAK ON THIS TRAIL. My husband and I took a little detour to check out an old bridge. On this side trail, I also peed, and chose the *WRONG* leaves to wipe with. Multiple sleepless nights and trips to urgent care later... I am writing this as a warning so nobody makes the same dumb mistake I did!

Snow and slippery conditions after about 1.2 miles up. Microspikes recommended. Mucky mud too, but it was only really bad in a couple of spots. Winter is coming! Still a great hike, lovely view of the pines topped with snow much of the way up. Walking slower since I didn't have spikes, it took me 2 hours up and 1 hour down with a short break at the overlook.

Great easy walk around the lake.

This was my first time on the trail. As of yesterday, it will take breaking trail for the final two miles to get to the summit. I wasn't willing to go further than the tracks went. There was a wind slab just before "the meadow" that I wasn't willing to cross, as well as some other evidence of snow instability along the way. I wanted to write this review to let people know that this trail is probably a ski/mountaineering adventure and not a hike at this point (probably from about mile 4) until next season. In addition, I was glad I had microspikes on my shoes after the first mile. It was intermittent ice/snow and mud for a couple miles and then straight snow after that.

Wish I'd brought gloves and spikes cause it was damn cold after the saddle and slippery on the way down. Beautiful hike though, will do again.

Super fun
Great work out with family

This is an easy and fun family trail. We hiked from the park at the top of Sky Lark Lane to the lookout point and back. This part of the trail was shaded almost the whole way, and the fall colors were beautiful. my kids also enjoyed playing at the park when we were done.

Great mid-range hike. Passing through Church Falls is beautiful, and the views of Millcreek Canyon from the top are amazing. Legs got a little tired towards the top, though.

Quick short trail, heavily trafficked.

Consistent climbing up, amazing views along the trail!!

Nice easy trail in north Salt Lake City with dog off-leash. Met by a stray golden retriever. Hot day. Beautiful views of the city and great Salt Lake. Had to contend with a few mountain bikers on trails that criss-crossed the hiking trail making it a bit hectic for the free running dogs.

It was an ok trail.
Not much to see.
we'll find a better hiking spot next time.
$3.00 to hike it.
The dogs enjoyed.

Nice trail. Very muddy right now with melted snow. A lot of downed branches across the path at the moment.

We hiked in the afternoon. There was quite a bit of the trail in the sun; not as shaded as I would have preferred.
