Decent trail. Views at the top are nice. I preferred the payoff at Cassidy Arch.
Incredible views. We chose this as our 1 hike to get introduced to Capitol reef and did not regret it. Drove the scenic drive after. Well worth our 8 hrs of driving
Awesome!
Definitely all up hill and then after you reach the top and back it’s all downhill mostly
On the trail by 10:30 which was probably too late as the sun was already high and the shadows were muted. A steady climb up throughout the hike to the overlook. Be mindful of the trail markers as it is very easy to go off trail given that most of the trail is on rock and not easy to see. The view from the overlook is nice but nothing great. At that height you lose a sense of perspective of the surrounding topography. 10/30/20
Beautiful hike. Definitely worth doing with fantastic views at the top. It’s a steady uphill but nothing is very steep or difficult. It’s almost entirely in the sun so be prepared for that.

Sunny with little shade and def harder than “moderate”. But spectacularly beautiful and #Kismet @KathyGreen @Yunchen
Lovely hike, much less traveled than the bridge, but there was a view of the bridge from the trail. It was steep in some sections and was nicely marked with caroms.
Gorgeous. Really hot in the afternoon. Not well marked in some sections. Totally worth it.
Solid, relatively easy trail with good (but not great) views. Steady/gradual climb and very easy to follow, especially with numerous cairns. Took one hour and forty-five minutes to complete.
Great trail. Incredible views of the valley.
Did this trail yesterday. Would not classify this as hard, even doing it in the heat of midday. No climbing or scrambling. Uphill nearly the entirety of the way in but nothing anyone in moderately good shape can't manage. Trail was mostly well marked with cairns or obvious trail routes. Pretty view from the overlook, you get a different view of the Hickman Bridge on the way up in, and a very nice view of how the Waterpocket Fold has literally tilted the park area. Worth doing in combination with the Hickman Bridge trail. Definitely bring water as you are exposed for a good portion of the hike. Some shaded areas though.
Glad we started early because it was already getting pretty warm by 9:00. Nice trail with pockets of shade and great views.
Done as a part of the Navajo knobs trail. If I did this trail again I would probably stop here. The view is visible from the road. Definitely challenging to complete Navajo knobs in 101 degree weather so doing this one would have been fine.
Overlook Rim is a great hike if you’re looking for amazing views of Fruita. This is definitely not a hard trail unless you do it in the midday heat. Trail cairns help keep you on track when it gets tricky to find the path. It took us three hours with minimal breaks. We started at 7:00a and saw about 5 different groups of people during our hike. There was a decent amount of shade that early that made it nice. In the heat of the day, this would’ve been much harder. Keep a lookout for the Hickman Bridge overlook!
Amazing hike but make sure you start very early in the morning, bring sun cover, and bring a lot of water. We started at 7am from Fruita Campground. We wish we would have started at 5am, just because at noon the sun is directly above you. Hike it totally amazing and should be on your agenda!!
We went in 90C heat, mid morning. The heat was a real killer, the hike is pretty good otherwise. The scenery is fascinating & changes quite a bit. The view at the top is quite expansive & overlooks the orchards. there isn't much shade, a few rocky overhangs & shrubs, but it is not a fun time in the full sun (especially for my pale skin!). The hike down is pretty easy & the scenery is top notch. Highly recommended hats, hiking boots & plenty of water.
Cool trail, but if you turn around at Rim Overlook you're missing even more mind-blowing views just up ahead. Highly highly recommend continuing forward forward from here and doing the full Navajo Knobs trail. You won't regret it!
Absolutely gorgeous. Lots of bugs but otherwise perfection.
