The trail itself was amazing, there was a stunning view around every turn and the hike was very challenging. However, it was packed with people who were noisy and the chain portion was very crowded. As many have said before the top of this trail is not for people who don’t like heights, but if you can make it up the first set of chains the view from Scout’s point is also amazing.

This was the coolest trail I've ever done. Some things people did not mention: bring bug spray!!!! Water is an obvious necessity as well. This hike was not as scary as most people make it seem. I am absolutely terrified of hikes and I wasn't the least bit worried at the top as there is plenty of foot space. My boyfriend and I decided to do the hike later on to try and avoid the crowd. We started the trail at 5pm and luckily we hit shade (bc of the way the sun hit) for the first part of the hike where the switchbacks were. Also, there was only about 3 times when we got to the chains when we had to wait for others to come down from the top. I highly recommend going at this time as there weren't nearly as many people compared to how it is in the morning, you have plenty of space at the top and you will have plenty of time to get back down before dark .

I did the hike when it was 104 degrees and I still enjoyed it. Unlike any other hike I have done before. But if you do this hike in the summer please pack double the amount of water you would normally consume on your average hike, the heat is nothing to mess with at Zion.

Just finished... go early.. first shuttle goes into canyon at 6am.. Honestly I don’t think it was as scary as many people think, but then I’m not scared of heights... You always feel safe... path wider on landing than I thought. First part nice and easy.. fairly flat and path wide part sandy... Then you turn and start to go switchbacks towards slot canyon (Refrigerator).. This part will really get your heart pumping... Then into nice cool refrigerator canyon, this is fairly flat and a nice break for what’s next.. Walter’ Wiggles.. this switchback climb up is another heart pumper.. Once your at top of that you immediately end up at Scouts Overlook where Angels Landing trail officially begins... easy, quick trek to the chains where the real fun begins... You’ll get to top in no time as long as not to crowded... When I left many people turned around.. Enjoy view on top! It’s well worth it!

Really cool hike but extremely crowded. Go early or a little later in the day to beat the crowds. The chains help a ton to get to the landing. Not as sketchy as I thought it would be. I would have given it five stars but it was just so crowded. At points I had to wait in line just to get up the next scramble. Be careful because some people are inconsiderate and will try to blaze around you during some rough parts. Great view and experience though. Highly recommend

Must take water with you in the summer. Don’t recommend to children under age 8., or people terrified of heights. Hike befor 9 am in the summer.

Absolutely stunning! Best trail I've done.

only made it to scouts lookout do to 6 feet of snow but loved the trail

An absolutely incredible trail from start to finish. The hike up to Scouts is tough, but nothing compared to the climb up to the top. More than once I wondered how the NPS could let anyone attempt it. I wouldn’t call it terrifying, but it’s harrowing. But the top is just glorious. Amazing views and a sense of accomplishment. I took the first bus up from the Visitors Center and it felt like most of the bus got off at the Grotto. I would not want to attempt this when the mountain gets too crowded. Even at an early hour, crawling around people on the climb down felt dicey. But this is worth it. Zion is amazingly beautiful.

I am not going to lie. I turned around at the last saddle....it gets pretty sketchy with people coming both ways and only room for one towards the top. Definitely not a hike for people that are not comfortable with heights. The first 2 miles (improved path) are a bit strenuous and well worth the views.

The other reviews say it all. This is a fantastic hike hike with great views on all sides. The trail is rated difficult mostly because the vertical drops to both sides can be frightening and a slip or trip in the wrong place could be deadly. However, the NPS has done a good job balancing the security and adventure of the trail, putting basic chains in place only in the most dangerous parts. Our pre-teen and young teen managed fine and loved it.

This was a lovely hike of July 9, 2019, quite easy to do and with conveniently placed chains in the steeper exposed sections. Left at 1 pm in the noon heat of 90F, the summit didn’t feel much cooler. At this hour of day it wasn’t crowded at all. Took us 1 hour 25 up and 55 min down. Really loved to see how 5 young guys were bringing an elderly man this trail up on a wheelchair to the Scout Lookout, giving this handicapped person a chance to see the beauty of this place. Truly awesome scenery, highly recommended.

One of the best hikes I've ever done! Absolutely Beautiful! Cant wait to go back to Zion!

Get there early! 6am shuttle. Walking down was already crowded and took time to veer off trail.Worth every minute.

One of the most unique & amazing hikes in the country, let alone Zion, and absolutely worth doing - but only if you go early! Plan to be at the shuttle stop by 7 AM at the latest (we were there at 5:53 AM, and there was already a line) if you don't want to encounter big crowds, diminished views, and potentially unsafe conditions on the chains. If you do plan ahead and get there early, the experience will be truly stunning.

Super fun hike!!! Got on the 6am shuttle going up was fun switchbacks and a good gain to keep you going. The chains to very top were easier going up as no one was coming down yet. Coming down was tricky just finding the break where you could go since it got busier. Definitely worth the effort the views are gorgeous!! 2:40 overall time with time spent sitting at top!

Epic hike. The chains/sharp drops make it very exciting. It’s extremely crowded, which leads to long lines going up and down.

Awesome views, worth the climb. Entered the trailhead this morning with my 19 yr old son, summited & returned in 3:10. Crazy amount of people even though we hit the trail at 7:30am. Switchbacks were better going down than up-Enjoy!!

Spectacular trail, definitely one of the highlights of Zion NP. Leave early! We caught the first shuttle (6AM) and were on the trail by about 6:30. Easy approach, then it’s switchback time. The first set was tougher, In my opinion. After that, you’re in Refrigerator Canyon for a cool, breezy stretch before tackling Walter’s Wiggles, a stack of very short and steep switchbacks. To me, the Wiggles were easier than the opening switchbacks, just due to how short each leg of the Wiggles is. From Scout’s Lookout on up to the Landing, it’s scramble and chain work. Pay attention, take your time, be courteous, and enjoy your reward at the top! The return trip can be tricky, spend a good amount of time stopping and starting for choke points and traffic. Same rules as above; pay attention, take your time, be courteous. We had a good time, including some solid down time up top since it wasn’t really crowded yet. Weekends and holidays, all bets are off though. That first shuttle is key: you beat the crowds AND the heat.

Great trail! Would do again any day, just advice going as early as possible and catching one of the first buses leaving the visitor center, as it was cool while hiking up and only moderately warm on the decent back down.

My daughter (17) and I took the 6:30 bus to the base of the trail. The first half a mile is easy, the next 1.5 miles is tough. Fight through it because it is an awesome hike with adventure and breath taking views! From top to bottom it took us 3 and a half hours.

Very enjoyable hike. We started at 7:45 I would suggest starting even earlier to avoid crowds snd the heat. Bucket list hike!

Took the 6:30am shuttle from the visitors center. Ascended relatively slowly, but by the time we reached the top, angels landing was already too crowded for my blood! Nice achievement though!

Most fun trail and NP I’ve been to, and I’ve been to well over a dozen National Parks. Lots of people, but it thins out as the timid start to turn back. Do it!
