CampingNo shade

Beautiful hike and waterfall at the end were well worth it! The terrain was varied in geological features and trail unique with the sand. We wore hiking boots and had no issues but I can see how the hike would feel more strenuous with sneakers or sandals. Little shade until the very end so be prepared for sun protection. My husband and I maintained a good 15-20min/mile pace and finished in 2:35hrs, even with hanging out at the waterfall a bit. As others have said, if you want to see the sun shining on the waterfall do plan to get there by 1pm. We got there at 2:30 and it was still great, but shaded and chilly. Also highly recommend the campsite at the trailhead! We had planned to tent camp on BLM land, but got lucky with a great spot here when we pulled off the road just to check it out.

Beautiful waterfall. I arrived at the trailhead about 30 minutes past sunrise and there were two other cars in the lot but my timing was fortunate and I passed them on their way back just as I was arriving to the falls, had the falls to myself for a good while. The falls are a great place to just sit and relax, no doubt a great place to swim in the warmer months. Lot was totally full when I got back to my car around 11 so go early.

Hiking

We were on our way to Capitol Reef and thought this was shorter, we hit it too late in the day to complete, only made it to marker 8 (of 14) I'm coming back to complete this another trip, very, very beautiful canyon trail. color of the cliffs and plants were amazing. Trail follows a creek all the way as far as I had time to hike. Trail was mostly very loose sand, mostly flat with some stepping and climbing on rock (requires some observing to find where the trail continues, its marked but markers can be easily missed, ended up taking an alternative higher path on the way rushing back and had to make my own back to the main trail). There is also a campground near the trailhead, looked nice, the creek also wanders through the camp.

Okay trail! A bit busy at 2-5pm on thursday, and super sunny at the start. I wasn’t a huge fan of the trail being sandy the whole way, but the waterfall was pretty!

I am out of shape and saw all ages on this trail and was a very easy hike to the falls. I've been exploring Death Valley this last winter and will begin to plan more hikes come fall 2021. Very rewarding hike, the road in was iffy at times as it's not a manicured road by any means but the 3 mile round trip hike was worth it

absolutely gorgeous yet strenuous hike. I am not an avid hiker YET. but i am able to push myself and hike as often as possible. this hike even at the beginning of April is HOT. and sandy, which makes it a bit more difficult than I would've thought. this hike changed my perspective of "I took my kids here". kids have loads of energy and havent put their body through hell yet anyway, all and all, absolutely beautiful and absolutely worth it. bring lots of water, snacks, & camera for pics at the end. We also has cooling towels (the ones you wet and they stay freezing cold for a while). I truly dont think I would've finished without them. happy hiking!

HikingGreat!

I was ready to be disappointed because this trail is so popular and usually crowded, but I really loved it. Since the parking lot is small and the trail is long and open, we only passed a few people on our way to the water fall. The rock walls and creek along the way were really beautiful, and we felt like we were out in nature almost by ourselves. The water fall itself was pretty crowded, but we found a spot on the further right side where we could sit down and have lunch and enjoy the view, and it was great. Be sure to get there before 1pm though if you want to see the sun shining on the water fall, because after that the rocks cast a long shadow over it. We passed more people on the way back to the parking lot, but not too bad. Also found a great swimming hole right by the day use area where we took a quick dip in the cool creek waters before getting into our car.

Parking lot fills up, arrive early in the morning. Morning hike is also better for heat. Actual distance close to 7 miles.

Amazing easy first hike in Death Valley! Highly recommend crossing the little river at the waterfall and climbing up the rocks to see the canyon above the waterfall. Gorgeous view up there if you’re willing to climb a bit!

Enjoyable hike to a surprisingly great falls. I was a bit pessimistic about doing “the hike” in the area but even with all the people the trail is good and the falls at the end are well worth it.

HikingFeeGreat!No shade

Okay so first: the trail. It was super easy but the first half has absolutely no shade, so be wary of the temperature. Once u get deeper into the canyon the walls provide shade and so do the plants. It’s a super beautiful canyon and once you get to the waterfall it’s super peaceful and definitely worth the drive and hike!! In terms of the drive on the dirt road; it is rough. It’s super rocky and will take a bit if you don’t have high clearance or 4WD. I was able to make it through with a Civic and saw both a bmw and Tesla make it so you’ll be able to if ur careful. Happy Adventures!
