on Canyon Overlook Trail

This trail should not be rated easy!! Easy = I can take grandma on a short hike and she will be fine. Easy = I can hike this in sandals.

Nope! You need proper hiking footwear and anyone with balance or mobility issues of any kind should not be on this trail. This trail has steep sections (especially in the beginning) minor rock scrambles, and some exposed areas with steep drop offs without railings! There is one area in particular that was really sketchy - it’s very narrow, slick rock, and still wet due to recent monsoon rainstorms - no railings when it should really have them. One slip and it’s over....

Any fear of heights, don’t do this! The overlook is nice but there are better hikes in the park so don’t be disappointed if you can’t find parking.

Beautiful hike! Smooth, paved trail with spectacular views! People of all ages were spotted on this hike! The caves will be forever remembered!

I went about a month ago and my mom's friend tore a ligament plus the hike is not moderate at all it is really hard.

Nice path leading to the Narrows. We hiked in the water about 2 miles and then turned back.

Quick, beautiful trail. You can drive right up to it on the Bonneville Shoreline if you have a higher clearance vehicle. A little overgrown near the top. The Grotto is gorgeous, this should be more popular, but it is a little tough near the top. Directions are key. It’s easy to take the wrong side trail. At the entrance to the creek be sure to take the trail on the north side (marked as steed creek trail) then once you cross the creek on a wooden plank, stay left and the canyon takes you right to the grotto. I’ve done some of the more intense hikes in Utah, but I would still say this is a tougher moderate hike. Not great for the typical kid and you do gain a lot of elevation on unsteady and steep inclines. Quick hike. You’ll love it.

Beautiful hike!!!!

my husband and I arrived around 8:45 am this morning to hike this trial. it must’ve been a good day to go, because there really weren’t many people on the way up or down! the hike up was really nice since it was still early, the temperatures were perfect! we didn’t stop much, so we arrived at the hot springs a little over an hour. the hot pools were smelly, but beautiful, the water was super blue! my only complaint was that one of the only people up there at the same time as us was a middle aged man, all alone, ass naked wallowing in the pool with the double waterfall. I expected to see some naked teenagers, but seeing this guy was actually pretty creepy, we didn’t appreciate that he kept standing up and exposing himself either. it was much hotter on the way down but it took only 45 minutes or so, it’s a really good hike for all skills levels with a great reward!

my son took me on this hike. It was a work out for me but I really enjoyed the scenery.

Beautiful fun trail. Very easy, good for kids.

I summited Mt. Timp last fall via Aspen Grove. The lookout at the farthest end of this hike opened up to a very nice view of a large portion of my Mt. Timp hike bringing back memories of each section of that hike.
I too had issues on this hike with pesky flying bugs that seemed to enjoy repeatedly flying around my head. I had luck keeping them at bay with a small leafy Aspen branch in hand swung around as needed.

This is one of my favorite hikes to do, it has a beautiful drive up and is a good moderate hike. Usually takes less than an hour to go up (without stopping) and has some good spots for hammocks at the top. Also a good spot for camping as long as you stay off of the trail.

Did this after Angels Landing. Went about half mile up the River into the Narrows. The water never got much over knees. Saw Mitt Romney Hiking with family.

Did this hike and added the Grotto Trail. The Upper Pool is crowded and is difficult to get pics without people in the Pool. Many People were in the Pool with no Consideration for others taking photos. I wanted pictures of the Pool, not pictures of people in the pool. Not to mention your not even suppose to be in the Pool.

Short easy hike to Mesa Arch. It is one of the best views i have ever seen.

Really pretty not too hard hike. An incredible view which was worth the bugs that accompany you. Although if the hike was much longer I might not have been able to give such a high review due to the little buggers.

Go in the late afternoon to walk in the shade, and enjoy the colors. We went after 6pm. Amazing!!! We went the weekend after 4th of July and the temp was nice. Still hot, but the shade was great! BRING CASH!!!! $5 PARKING FEE IN CASH! Honor system.

The trail on its own is a great introduction for inexperienced hikers. My 5 year old son could accomplish the trail without needing any assistance or requiring a break. It has a few log bridges that cross the waterfall's stream that kids enjoy. The stream's size fluctuates depending on the run-off, but I have never seen it go above ankle deep.

This trail seems to attract a big crowd. plan accordingly around peak times or you maybe disappointed.

The first part of the trail can accommodate groups rather nicely as it is wide excluding a few passes. It felt like a relatively safe trail for children to be lightly supervised.

If you decide to keep hiking past the initial waterfall the trail starts to increase in difficulty considerably. More water and incline conditioning is required.

We went mid July on a Sunday at 7 am. And very much worth it. The parking is insanely limited, so arrive early.

The hike was great! Not too difficult or easy.

The Hot Springs do have a smell, but that’s expected. We did come across a ton of trash, including half a watermelon, that we packed out of there. Otherwise, I’ll absolutely be back!!

I love the aspens along the trail and there are some beautiful look outs, especially at the end. We went on a Saturday morning in the summer and there were a lot of other hikers of all ages out on the trail. We went at a slow/leisurely pace and it took us about 2.5ish hours total.

My favorite waterfall! very whimsical and peaceful. It is a short hike and great for yoga/meditation or pondering time. The waterfall is breathtaking tucked around Rocky mountain and forestry. I go here often to relax...

the trail gets really rocky. my four year old kept tripping but she kept going. the end with the river and waterfall is worth the hike specially on a hot day. beautiful hike and mostly shaded.

The hike round trip is little less than 4 miles and fairly easy! Kid and dog friendly! Most bigger dogs were on a leash and gratefully people pick up after their pets! You might see soiled bags hanging from trees, but they will pick it up on their way back out. The waterfall is amazing! We saw group of people rappelling down the waterfall! They have all the fancy equipment, so it safe to watch! Not too many wildflowers compared to other trails, but there are picture worthy! Definitely coming back again before the season ends!

This trail is a strenuous one. It’s nearly a mile from the parking lot to the trailhead, so plan accordingly. The temps were right around 100 in early July, so bring plenty of water. Steep steps and large rocks are prevalent for much of the hike, but the waterfall is a beautiful destination. The upper portion is even steeper than the lower, but it’s worth the wobbly legs you’ll have at the end of the hike!

The easiest hike I’ve done it is short and so pretty with all the pine trees around. The water fall is small but a really nice place to go . I recommend it to go really early in the morning so you can enjoy the place to yourself.

Hiked this mid July and started around noon. Start of trail you are more exposed. Then shade for majority of trail. With a 1 and 2y/o we took our time due to heat. Scenery beautiful and would have appreciated a few more signs.

Very steep hike. Beautiful views. Paved with lots of resources at areas but little shade. The caves are very cool and feel good after a hike up in 90+*! My kids ages 4-11 all did it with a few piggy-back rides for the 4 year old. Definitely a bucket list hike!

Beautiful views along the whole trail! We went on the 4th of July and it wasn’t crowded at all! The first half is pretty steep, bring enough water on a hot day! Also if you want to get down in the falls, you’ll have to climb so rocks/in some water but it was so worth it!

A very clean and uncrowded area. People complaining about it being to hot are the ones who can't force themselves to get up before 9:00 am. It's a beautiful temperature through 6 - 7 am. Beware it gets more crowded around 9 am. The falls where beautiful and there is a small stream that comes from the falls that you see 1/4 the way there. The trail goes on past the falls, and leads to a pretty view of the city inbetween the mountains. I went at the perfect time as was able to see the sun rise over the mountains near the end of the trail.
