Without a question, probably one of the best hikes in Michigan. Super easy trail to follow and the colors were still amazing.

This trail is beautiful. We hiked this trail on October 5 and there was quite a bit of fall color. There were no bugs at all and the weather was a little chilly, but not too bad overall. On the chapel trail there were a few parts where it was muddy, but it was not too difficult. However, the mosquito trail portion seemed to be mostly mud and water. There had been a storm the day before, so that definitely made everything wetter. It took us about five hours to finish the loop and the views along the rocks are not to be missed. Chapel rock and Beach were two of our favorites especially when you have a little bit of fall color on top of the rocks. There were not too many people on the trail and it was very peaceful. At times it was completely silent, which was a little spooky :) Overall I would highly recommend this trail, but make sure you have good waterproof boots!

Absolutely a gorgeous hike in the fall. With plenty of places to stop and take pictures, catch your breath from the hills or just the beauty, I’d say give yourself a good 7-8 hours to hike this trail. Keep an eye on weather leading up to your trip because plenty of low lying spots get muddy. Temps can vary, coastal temps are much cooler than inland so wear layers. No wildlife was seen but plenty of people. Only serious hikers should attempt the loop, most regulars turn back at he beach so it will be quiet and lonely walking the cliffs to mosquito falls. Enjoy the peace and solitude this trail brings. Quite a special Michigan adventure!

I went from Mosquito around to chapel. Very picturesque. I got confused a couple time where the trail wasnt marked well. But hey!! I made it out !!

This trail provided beautiful views of Fumee
Lake. We saw deer and turkeys on the trail. The water was crystal clear! Lovely!!!

Not impressed with the waterfall, but a decent short hike.

Nice trail but not sure it merits a moderate rating especially for mountain biking. There is a connecting trail, the Fumee Mountain trail, that provides a little more terrain challenge. Lots of deer sighted. I plan to go back this winter to do some snowshoeing.

Amazing hike but with the side hikes for the views ended up being 12 miles. Was worth every step. Truly amazing

We had a great 8 mile out and back starting at Moccasin Lake. Good trailhead location from AllTrails. Head east across across the road (NF13). That takes you to Pete’s Lake. Trail markers get a little lost but just follow the lakeshore east and look for the blue diamonds. Once your out of the campground at Pete’s the trail is very nice. Well defined and minimal elevation changes. A lot of pristine wilderness to enjoy. Have fun!

I hiked this trail just last Sunday! It was absolutely the best trail, ever!!! The views were gorgeous, the trail was well-marked, etc. I cannot say enough good about this trail...it’s simply a “must do!” Happy hiking!!! :)

Oh! And the bugs....there weren’t any!!

falls are definitely something to see. very nice trail.

Easy out and back worth the effort.

Nice quick trail from parkway my lot to viewing stand. Trail is wide smooth and well maintained. Not very view of the waterfall from the lower platform

Great trail and super-fun climb past the viewing platform to stand at the bottom of the falls and feel the mist!

beautiful fall and love to feel the mist when stand front of the fall

We hiked this loop trail today. Started at 9am and finished at 330. Beautiful views of the cliffs and crashing waves. Majestic walks through the woods with beautiful birch trees arching overhead. We went left from the parking lot and saw mosequito falls. Got to the water and looked over the cliffs about 11am. So many majestic views walking along the cliffs. Had lunch sitting on Indian head cliff. We had originally planned to continue up to spray falls. But we were too tired and it would have added 3 miles out and back. So we skipped it and went to chapel falls and made it back in about 6.5 hrs. It was a perfect hike. Just be sure to bring a lot of bug repellant and water.

Pretty busy trail; the sign at the beginning says less than a mile but it’s definitely over (if that’s a breaking point for you). We ended up climbing through and around the viewing deck to get under the fall - I highly recommend it (with safety precautions like adequate equipment and a partner). The breeze and mist from the waterfall is incredible.

Wonderful

Beautiful - rain or shine! Prepare to be out there for the long haul though and bring water and maps!

This was a great hike with beautiful views. We had no issues with mosquitos. The trail needs additional markers.

Spent a relaxing 3 day trip hiking along Pictured Rocks Lakeshore. Lake Superior is superior for a reason. It has beautiful clear beaches to enjoy sunsets, quiet campsites, and fairly flat trail most of the way.

Best hike in Michigan

Simply unbelievable. The moment when you leave the forested area and see the pictured rocks for the first time is breathtaking.

While I have been living in Chicago for the past year and am completely nature deprived, I believe this hike to be one of the most scenic I have done, and that is saying a lot! It had everything I wanted in a hike - dense forest, moss, ferns, mushrooms, cliffs, clear blue water, gorgeous views, sandy beaches, etc....I would highly recommend. We started at 1pm and finished at 7:20pm due to stopping and taking so many photos! It was foggy and spooky starting out then the sun broke through and all the landscape could be seen! I also liked how flipping quiet it was on the trail! While the parking lot was completely full, we were by ourselves the whole time. Yay! Hike this trail.

Awesome trail! Has it all - woods, waterfalls, cliffs with gorgeous views of pictured rocks, beach. We were fans of the clockwise path. Only complaint is the crowds, everyone wants a piece of the action. We clocked in at 12.4 miles on this loop, not sure if all our sidebars for pics adds the extra mileage.

So many amazing views. It was about 10 miles and over 5 hours. It was worth every minute. It is Very hilly.

This trail isn't hard to backpack and the views are breathtaking. The mosquitoes were not bad and we saw a deer.

Beautiful hike with stunning cliff top views. Huge bang for your buck as this trail is not difficult and offers a huge array of scenery. Winding forest trails, waterfalls, clifftop views and vistas of the lake and pictured rocks, time on the beach, and some gorgeous young growth forest.
I recommend LOTS of deet, and packing a lunch to eat on the cliffs.
