Great trail home to many mountain goats

hiking

Fun hike! Not too difficult but enough uphill/roots/rocks to present a bit of a challenge (keep in mind, I moved here from one of those flat states in the middle, so you’re mileage may vary). It was a bit hazy today, due to wildfire smoke, but still a pretty spot! Hung out by the lake for a bit and only saw a few other people. Got to the trailhead about 10 and only four other cars in lot...lots more when I left at 1 (especially for a Monday, I thought).

Last four miles of the drive to the trailhead are on a gravel road...the road isn’t in bad shape but not fun if you already have to pee!

A fantastic experience heading back to Spray Park today. Make sure you keep going past the meadows for some amazing alpine and glacial exploration. Not too difficult and quite otherworldly!!

Lovely hike--tough finding the trail to the Butte as it is just near the Boxely Creek bridge and rather narrow but the best part is that it is in the forest and there was no one on it once we got off the gravel road. The view is not as nice as Rattlesnake but it was worth it to skip the crowds.

8/11/18 Enjoyed this trail from beginning to end. Beautiful scenery of the mountains, glaciers, wild flowers and lake. Its a moderate hike, our walking sticks helped our knees on the way back down. Make sure to wear good shoes We saw a couple of people in flip flops who im sure we’re struggling. There was a black bear on the trail on our return back, about a 10th of a mile from the parking lot.

It was extremely foggy, making it impossible to see anything at the view point. But still so worth the hike. We were able to climb up to the base of the waterfall from the spray park view point! Definitely my favorite waterfall yet!

More of a nature walk. All the same it was gorgeous. And we had a grand ol time. Went with my three kids: 6,4,1

Did this one back in may, beautiful wilderness area, lots of switchbacks..

Very doable, very pretty views of the waterfalls!

I went on the 4th of July. I lucked out with parking. Judging by the amount of cars, I considered not going but was able to get a parking spot at the trailhead. Based on the amount of cars, I was pleasantly surprised to not really meet up with too many people for the about the first mile. The rocks weren't as bad as the roots as people have mentioned. I wouldn't take little kids but I saw plenty trekking without a problem. I had a dog and encountered about 18 others throughout the day. All but one were on leashes. The mud greets you near the top. I'd say the last half mile. The worst part were the bugs at the top. I didn't notice them once I crossed the wood planked walkway. definitely be prepared. Beautiful, relatively easy hike. I'd defi do it again.

Gorgeous hike! This hike is full of beautiful falls, bridges, wild flowers and views of mount Rainier! Loved everything about it....except the bugs:))) Bugs we’re annoying. As soon as you stop moving, they attack you:(

It is an easy hiking trail. You can run.

Easy hike compared to Maple Pass & Cascade Pass that we did. Great recovery day with gorgeous scenery. Stop by Winthrop for a burger and beer after!

Amazing hike with fantastic views. The lake was a lovely sight!

Fairly easy hike compared to the other hikes in the area. The trail is well maintained and clear. Hiked it on a beautiful August day. Lots of sunshine and good rewarding hike. Beautiful views of the lake at the top Nice views of the mountains along the way! I highly recommend this for all experience levels of hikers. Enjoy!

Hiked today (8/5), sunny and in the 70's. No snow.

We arrived at the trail head at 2pm and had no trouble finding a parking spot. We only saw a dozen people and had the trail to ourselves on the descent.

SO.. first off, the trail is actually 8.2 miles round trip (add it to the list of inaccurate distances in AT). I have to be honest, I hated this hike for the majority of it. The first 70% of it is switchback after rocky, rooty switchback until it opens up towards the final ascent. After that, it was more enjoyable and the views are, indeed, beautiful; 360° of surrounding peaks and enough room to enjoy a secluded snack at the top. We saw a few mountain goats in distance too! Then back to the unrelenting switchbacks...
All in all, I probably won't don't do this one again with so many other options in the National Forest with similiar, more attainable results.

Very rewarding hike with a beautiful lake. Would recommend getting an early start on this one to beat the bugs and crowds later in the day. Camping is not allowed at Blanca Lake however there is plenty of camping spots at Virgin Lake.

Closed for Search and Rescue.

Looks like a beautiful trail. However, it is closed for SR. I hope they find her safe.

So so beautiful! But definitely the hardest hike I’ve ever done. It seemed like we would never get there but we finally did! I would definitely say take PLENTY of water. I drank 4 bottles by myself.
Check the weather before you go. We went yesterday and the weather was perfect. I think like 70-72 the whole day. I can’t imagine doing that hike in hotter weather. It would be miserable. We forgot bug spray and the bugs didn’t bother us too bad. I don’t think i have bites at all. They were only a nuisance when we stopped to take a breather. We got there and started on the trail around 11:30-12. We got back at 7:50. So it was a very long day but totally worth it. Make sure you wear hiking boots, if you don’t have any make sure you wear tennis shoes with GOOD SOLES.

The worst part was the 2 mile walk back because
It felt like it would never end.

Great trail. Easy and flat in places, a lot of incline and terrain most places. Middle falls is best view of the falls. Just passed that is a great view of the valley.

did this trail October 2017. went with a group of 4, which was a good size. it was cool in temperature but no one in the lake. cool rock wall at the lake.

Did this hike today. Started at 6:30am and it took us about 8.5 hours total, including about an hour at the lake. The climb up was strenuous, but it was all well maintained switchbacks. Once you reach the top of the switchbacks, there is a meadow, then Virgin Lake, then the trail down to Blanca lake. The hike is not technical and there are even stairs at a few points. It was well worth it for the view of the lake and several vistas along the way. I would recommend getting an early start to avoid bugs and crowds. There were only two other people at the lake when we got there around 11, and the sun lit up the lake closer to noon. We weren't attacked by any bugs until we started back down the mountain, and it was a lot busier later in the day too. Happy hiking!

Challenging and very worth it. It took us about five hours to do the trail including around the lake. We saw some fresh bear scat on the other side of the lake.

Please be aware the trail app takes you to the WRONG DESTINATION, please DONT FOLLOW it.

If you’re using high way 2 from cashmere; go past the Skykomish ranger station and turn right after the station. Follow the road for about 13 miles, it will turn into a dirt road. At the end of the road you will walk about 2.5 miles to the trail head and then about 7 miles round trip to Blanca Lake.

If coming from Goldbar; get to mile mark 50 then turn left and follow the same route as stated above.

It sprinkled and then pored rained on ya the last 1.5 miles. It wasn’t worth it but I bet on a clean day it’s nice.

Good luck to all hikers and please be safe.

Went on a very hot Monday afternoon so I was one of the only people on the trail. Certainly beautiful. The different viewpoints are good for families with different skill levels.

Thimble berries and huckleberries season is open, the snack bars line the trail. This trail is shaded and a good choice if it is hot. I found it moderate/hard as there are a lot of tricky steps with roots or rocks and hiking sticks helped a great deal. Looks like the Gardener was hard at work, the trail around the lake is lined with ferns and charming Bunch Berry in bloom. A swim in the clear water was the best reward and the GREEN is a balm to the eyes. You will love it! A perfect wedding anniversary hike!

Very nice, flat stroll. Beautiful views of Lake Crescent the entire hike. Must see Devil’s Punchbowl- as others have said, take the trail LEFT of the 1st tunnel, not through the tunnel. You will cross a bridge over the swimming hole. Then loop around so that you go through the tunnel on the return trip. Great for kids!

Breathtaking! By far the hardest yet most amazing hike I have ever been on. Pack plenty of water and bug spray. The bees and flies were ridiculous. But it was so worth it!!
