One of the best trails in the entire Midwest.

It is the most remote state park in Michigan. A long, slow drive to get to the parking lot. Very quiet, peaceful. Bugs can be very bad in early July.

Great views of lake of the clouds!

Fantastic views from the top!! Fall color are at their peak.

Great views. Nice loop trail. I couldn’t imagine going up to the bluffs if took a right to start the hike. Nearly impossible going down after a rain. Wouldn’t want to attempt going up.

We took the difficult trail and it was not bad at all. Lots of rocks and tree roots, so it requires paying attention, but is not overly challenging. We went on a Saturday around noon and the trail was packed. The weather was chilly, but worth it when you reach the top and see the colors. We were a little early, so the colors weren't in full swing yet, but still a very beautiful hike. I would absolutely do it again.

This trail is beautiful. We hiked this trail on October 5 and there was quite a bit of fall color. There were no bugs at all and the weather was a little chilly, but not too bad overall. On the chapel trail there were a few parts where it was muddy, but it was not too difficult. However, the mosquito trail portion seemed to be mostly mud and water. There had been a storm the day before, so that definitely made everything wetter. It took us about five hours to finish the loop and the views along the rocks are not to be missed. Chapel rock and Beach were two of our favorites especially when you have a little bit of fall color on top of the rocks. There were not too many people on the trail and it was very peaceful. At times it was completely silent, which was a little spooky :) Overall I would highly recommend this trail, but make sure you have good waterproof boots!

One of the greatest trails I have ever set foot on. Climbed up several waterfalls to reach a nice basin of water at the top that we swam in. Not for the faint of heart, but for those that take the journey, you will be highly rewarded.

Absolutely a gorgeous hike in the fall. With plenty of places to stop and take pictures, catch your breath from the hills or just the beauty, I’d say give yourself a good 7-8 hours to hike this trail. Keep an eye on weather leading up to your trip because plenty of low lying spots get muddy. Temps can vary, coastal temps are much cooler than inland so wear layers. No wildlife was seen but plenty of people. Only serious hikers should attempt the loop, most regulars turn back at he beach so it will be quiet and lonely walking the cliffs to mosquito falls. Enjoy the peace and solitude this trail brings. Quite a special Michigan adventure!

Took a hike up the ‘difficult’ trail to the top of Sugarloaf mountain - what a beautiful view!!! The difficult trail is not very difficult even for a novice hiker like myself - there are just some uneven areas that are entirely manageable with proper footwear (tennis shoes, lol) Took about 15-20 minutes up at a leisurely pace. I definitely recommend!

great views especially in the fall.

I went from Mosquito around to chapel. Very picturesque. I got confused a couple time where the trail wasnt marked well. But hey!! I made it out !!

Great trail with awesome views!!

Amazing hike but with the side hikes for the views ended up being 12 miles. Was worth every step. Truly amazing

Hiked the east trail from the south boundary road. You can park there near the bridge and get on the trail there. It’s a beautiful hike along the river and falls. The east trail is more rugged than the west trail but not difficult. Moderate would be an appropriate rating in my opinion. Hike this trail to Lake Superior and back and you will have gone appropriately 2 1/4 miles. One of my favorite hikes. Our dogs love it

Absolutely stunning!

I hiked this trail just last Sunday! It was absolutely the best trail, ever!!! The views were gorgeous, the trail was well-marked, etc. I cannot say enough good about this trail...it’s simply a “must do!” Happy hiking!!! :)

Oh! And the bugs....there weren’t any!!

Amazing views. A bit harder than moderate rating. A lot of fun.

The last few hundred yards to get to the falls is steep and Rocky. You also need to cross a small stream but there is a big log across it .

We hiked this loop trail today. Started at 9am and finished at 330. Beautiful views of the cliffs and crashing waves. Majestic walks through the woods with beautiful birch trees arching overhead. We went left from the parking lot and saw mosequito falls. Got to the water and looked over the cliffs about 11am. So many majestic views walking along the cliffs. Had lunch sitting on Indian head cliff. We had originally planned to continue up to spray falls. But we were too tired and it would have added 3 miles out and back. So we skipped it and went to chapel falls and made it back in about 6.5 hrs. It was a perfect hike. Just be sure to bring a lot of bug repellant and water.

Hiked it twice. It’s a great trail

Great views - I recommend the “difficult trail” as it’s faster to get up, and found the stairs on the “easy trail” were way too time consuming. However, the easy trail was easy enough for people to get up in dresses, sandals, flip flops, or jeans...

Wonderful

Not really a hike. Very short walk up a hill and you are there. Nothing else to see but the small water fall. Short and easy.

Took the easy route and thought it was harder with all the stairs. Awesome views from the top, definitely worth the hour to complete the loop.

Awesome trail to hike and the waterfalls are gorgeous. One side of the trail has lots of ups/downs but has better spots for taking pictures. The other side of the trail is mainly boardwalk. Definitely worth checking this trail out if you’re visiting the Porcupine Mountains.

Beautiful - rain or shine! Prepare to be out there for the long haul though and bring water and maps!

This was a great hike with beautiful views. We had no issues with mosquitos. The trail needs additional markers.

Spent a relaxing 3 day trip hiking along Pictured Rocks Lakeshore. Lake Superior is superior for a reason. It has beautiful clear beaches to enjoy sunsets, quiet campsites, and fairly flat trail most of the way.
