Recording accidentally turned off for part of hike. Actually 7.4 miles. Amazing day with Simon, Alice and Hug
I hiked this early Saturday, October 10 and it was so beautiful. It is a great day hike this time of year. There was no snow on the ground.
I took my 5 year old on a weekend adventure, pretty easy hiking and lots of lakes. Fall colors are beautiful right now might not last much longer, aspens bright yellow and temps in the 40s. Can pick how far and which lakes to trip to and lots of fishing!
Nice trail, really dusty late in the season. The hill right before the basin is difficult for beginners but relatively short. Hiked to the summit of Mount Marsell on day 2, awesome views! Saw a group of Mountain Goats on the east side of the lake.
10/10 the climb at the end kinda sucks but isn’t too long
The wind was a little chilly, but only when we sat down and ate lunch. Only saw another hiker and her dog today Tuesday, 9/1/2020.
Great trail! We got there about 6 am and there were a decent number of parking spots left. We didn’t see anyone on the trail until we got to the larger lakes where people were camping. You could tell some of the water sources are less full since its the end of the summer, but there was still plenty of water for my dog most of the hike. Unfortunately the beetle has killed a lot of trees in this area, so it’s a bit sad, but if you’re looking for something not too crowded, cool, mostly shaded, and water for your pup, this hike is for you!!
Great hike! Lots of variation in trail terrain, great views, rewarding lake at end.
Great hike, not steep at all!
Naturalist basin is nice, only one other group there on a Sunday night. We stayed at Blue lake lots of little fish there 6 inch or under. The next day we went started hiking about 5 miles to 4 lakes basin, but got stopped by Forest service and we couldn't go any further unfortunately so we ended our trip one day shorter than planned. This was is as of 8/24/20. It rained on and off each day from 12-5 which is typical this time of year.
Beautiful trail, if my 7 year old nephew can do it with a full overnight pack, you can. Has a big hill, called heart break hill, but is the only semi-difficult part of the entire hike. Beautiful lake.
We carried camp gear (no backpacks needed) to camp near Cliff Lake and it was perfect. Few small family groups on beautiful lake. We headed up to Clydes lake in the morning, making sure to walk to the cliff of Cliff Lake. There’s no formal path but one of prettiest views and dramatic drop (and easiest to get to) over the glassy lake
Did this as a little day hike from our camp spot at Jordan Lake. We went counter clockwise and it is much easier!
Great trail for kids, only a few steep sections along the trail, nothing with crazy exposure. We spent one night up there, the bugs were not bad at all- primarily due to the fact that we had a light breeze pretty much the whole time.
Hiked the loop on 8/4/20. Not super hard, just long. Went counterclockwise. Small steep part near small waterfall, but nothing technical. Some route finding once on the loop, seems like the trail would disappear at points. Took me 7 hours with the dog. Did see a bear about a mike into the hike.
The last 1/2 mile is very steep but Blue Lake is totally worth the climb up! There are a couple really great campsites to the left of the trail when you first get up and a really awesome one all the way back towards the end of this trail.
It was a beautiful hike. There was a lot of of hills with slippery loose rocks. The lakes and views were beautiful though!
