We took our two seater rzr on this trail last weekend and the weather was perfect! The trail goes from easy fire roads to some pretty decent rock crawling when you get up closer to silverwood lake. I highly recommend these trails and cannot wait to return in the snow.

Beautiful view

pretty nice and mellow trail had a driver with stock Nissan Pathfinder that's the reason to visit this trail but it was fun on labor day.

Fire road = easy with beautiful views.

Off shoots = some are intimidating, especially to the noobs. Pack of 6 vehicles and 3 incurred minor body damage. Disconnect if you can or else you might find yourself leaning against the mountain walls riding a good line. Expect to use rock rails at some off shoots.

I'm new to the off-roading world, and we came here around 6pm on a Saturday... It looked like a great place for a little drive, but the gates were closed and said it was closed due to "fire hazard"

This trail was super fun! We went out in our Toyota 4Runner 4X4, and we’re fairly new to off-roading and did this one with no problem. Some parts are super sketch with the high cliffs and narrow road, and be careful for traffic as it can be a tight squeeze (and a little terrifying). Have your phone ready for cool videos!

It was my first experience intentionally off roading, however, I have driven off road before when on the beach or looking for trails. This was no different. I had a blast even though it was easy. The scenery changes the higher you go. I made it all the way to the top and back down in about 4 hours with regular photo stops in my stock 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. Got my pass at the OHV office in Glendora and drive up. You need a permit to go up (it’s free) and a code will be provided to you to unlock the gate entrance. I went up on a Tuesday for sunset and was the only vehicle up there so I had a blast.

I completed this endeavor with a stock 4runner ORP. 4x4 is a must, along with some rock rails due to the terrain. This was my first true off roading adventure and might have been too technical. IMO, you need a lifted rig and some experience.

Minus the toughness of the trial, it was a great adventure and is a recommended drive!

Took this trail today with the family for a Sunday drive. Loads of fun. Saw a couple people. Even saw a deer. Found some really nice camping areas. We will definitely do this trail again and maybe take some of the other routes.

I hiked it, don’t miss Little Doris above Swamp Lake.

Is it open yet

Fun trail, definitely 4x4 if taking the harder routes. Fire road is doable on stock vehicles , possible 4x2.

Drove it 9/3/18 during dry weather,

Really great short drive terrain isn’t to rough but would recommend 4wd or awd. View point at the top is very worth the drive.

Had a great time. We found a steeper side trail that was more challenging. Watch for snakes...we came up on two rattlers fighting.

Frank Perez, you will be fine on your truck the only issue i would see is that you will get bushes and trees wacking your sides of the truck and most likley scratching the surface of the truck(i came out the trail full of dirt leaves and scratches). if you are ok with this then yea go for it, for ground clearance im sure most stock vehicles would be ok especially a truck, youll have fun its all part of wheeling anyways.

This was my 2nd time wheeling and this trail is Great for begginers. i did the entire trail on normal 2wd (97 wrangler 3 inch lift on 33s). instead of looping back were i started i kept going on the trail and came out next to silverwood lake (just follow the widest road), i filled up on the nearest gas station before starting trail and only used a bit over 1/4 of the gas tank. i believe it took me 2 hrs and 30 min to complete the trail with a few stops in between for scenic views. when you end the trail near lake arrowhead youll go from dirt road to tar mac road and there are a couple of recreational camp sites as well.

Good for someone at the intermediate level that's ready to get off the fire road and try some obstacles for the first time. Remember the trail is very slippery when wet.

first real off road trip in my 2016 toyota Tacoma sport. 2 wheel. little rough for the first mile or so, then smooth sailing after that. took us about 2 hours only cause we stopped at a few look out spots as well as a little hidden camp site. which we will be camping at real soon.

I plan on going there soon. I have a 2015 Ram 2500 LONG BED. ON 35s and not leveled, it's a tall stock truck. Do you think I will have trouble on the narrow parts of the trail considering I have a long bed 8 foot bed truck? Especially if I need to turn it around 180 to go back down?

Ease and not much traffic.

love the pines.

it was a lot of fun, but not a year round trail. I'd definitely avoid this place in the summer. the description saying it's shaded and cool is inaccurate; most of the trail, even inside the canyon, is in the full brunt of the sun.

The trail starts out on sandstone hills, then declines gradually into the slot canyon. once inside, the trail is extremely narrow. I could barely fit through with my day pack on. my husband wouldn't be able to fit through most of the trail as he's a big guy, and I was scraping my legs and arms on the walls as I passed.

Fortunately, the views inside the canyon make it totally worth it. It was even worth the heat! Would be a beautiful hike in the winter or spring, when the sun isn't so hot.

A nice drive, with an emphasis on “drive”.

If you’re looking for a nice drive with okay scenery then look no further.

If you’re hoping to off-road, there are offshoots (one of which is Holy Jim). Other than that, this is definitely an easy to moderate trail.

Really great beginner trail not challenging at all, but great views. about halfway in there is some really good barbecue and camping spots that I plan to check out in the future. Great trail with the kids! 2016 4runner SR5.
