I really enjoy this portion of the trail area in Prince William Forest Park. Going either direction you can keep up some speed most of the way when running, however there are some areas that you’ll need to slow down for and pick your way over some rocks. I included this trail in a portion of a long run recently. Currently a lot of leaves are covering the trail and it can be difficult to see the rocks and roots that are trying to roll your ankles. Enjoy!

Trails need a LOT of maintenance. There is no trail from the Visitor’s center to Courthouse Road (even though this trail shows it). And the one from Courthouse road to road stop #2 is poorly marked and maintained. Not to mention there was gunfire close by and plenty of arrows stuck in trees along these ‘trails’.

Great area to walk a lot of wildlife to look at!!

The lake is beautiful but the trail markings are terrible and the trail itself is in bad shape with large trees blocking the trail and trail markers missing . I would have given this 5 stars if the trail was marked better and the bridges crossing the stream were usable

We ran the A section of the trail just before dark on a Saturday night. It’s a great trail for running with slight elevation changes, switch backs and plenty of roots. This trail has a good overhead tree canopy so it can be run during midday and you will be in the shade for 90% of the run. The trail was approximately 4.7 miles long on my GPS.

great trail!

Enjoying yes this trail since all Billy Goat trails were closed due to flooding.

Not a bad hike didn’t care for all the walking along the power lines. There were a few down trees on the trail. $7 to get into lake Anna park

The name of this trail is a bit misleading; at least half of the trail is not even within sight of the lake. The rest is just a nice walk in the woods or on old dirt roads. The trail is overdue for maintenance as well.

Had a great time walking the trail. Some parts are a little overgrown but still passable. Creek crossings, road crossings, animals, and plant life were awesome. Fun trail!

Easy hike it’s a bit too close to roads and civilization for a true hike. The trail is very well kept.

Beautiful hike. One area where you are on the cliff is barely your foot’s width and is terrifying if you’re going against the flow of traffic for hiking. But overall the views are breathtaking.

Enjoyable, hiked part of it with my friends and our dogs. Everyone had fun, water is good to cool off in

I like this loop. It’s pleasant, well-marked, and undulating. It’s not really scenic and it’s almost completely wooded. That’s not bad for me, but i can see how it could be a bit monotonous for some.

Billy Goat A trail loop was closed due to flooding, so we walked to the Great Falls Overlook on Olmstead Island, then followed the canal to the bridge across the canal (just past the Billy Goat trail entrance). After crossing over we picked up the Overlook Trail heading back towards the parking lot and eventually ended up canalside. While the views on the Overlook Trail are not as impressive as being right next to the falls, the trails were dry and it wasn’t crowded. It was a nice walk, with a few decent views looking down at the river if you take the two down-and-back spurs off the main trail. Combine all this with sunshine and 70s and you have the ingredients to a perfect hike!

This was a beautiful trail. The Dam added some cool scenery. One of the main bridges was out so it added a bit more hiking time as we maneuvered the detour around twisty streams and washed out trails. We did go after a big rain, but it was fun. We didn’t see another soul on the trail and the dogs loved it!

Absolutely fantastic especially if you go after a big rain to see Mother Nature at her best

Pretty easy hike. There's a couple steep hills, but nothing too strenuous. There's not much to see, so it drags a bit. Not sure if someone else covered this, but you take two other trails from the parking lot to get to the trail. It's a good trail if you're just trying to get some miles in.

Lovely hike (did the South Valley Trail to the North Valley Trail out and back). Several opportunities to cross the stream on logs which was fun. Would rate easy not moderate, but definitely enjoyable.

Great views, I’ve been here dozens of times during all seasons of the year.

I have ridden this trail many times. 1 and 3 are the most interesting with 2 being mediocre. the trails are really well maintained with little chance of getting lost. there are a couple of small streams to cross, some rock gardens and small logs across the trail to hop. there are a few small climbs, and a few spots to really fly, mostly on 3. you will find a couple of benches and a nice place to stop and look out over the lake. we've seen deer, snakes and birds. it can get a little rooty in spots, but it's mostly nice packed dirt. it can get technical in spots so I would say this is for intermediate skilled riders.

Very enjoyable! Went on a Monday, so no other visitors around. Nicely cleared trails, lots of wildlife tracks (including bear). My dog enjoyed a lake swim. Fee was $4 on the honor system (put money in envelop and place in slotted box).

My wife and I stayed to trail A. Only passed by a couple of bike riders. Trail is easy to follow and was a very enjoyable hike for the day.

Some areas are not well kept, but that being said, I did have fun and it is a great ride through the woods. A bit confusing at some points but with gps or a map from the visitor center (I had gps) you can figure it out.
