Beautiful hike. Lots of trail junctions so I was glad to have the GPS map!

Beautiful hike along the river with mountain and cliff views. Nice meadows for a picnic. We went to the bridge before turning back, it was a nice 2 hour hike.

Did this trail the first part of Nov. Absolutely beautiful and a good family trail. Beware of the horse/mule trackings; while it is beautiful countryside, there is significant trail wear from the mule/horses. Still! It is worth the trek. I hiked this trail with my 66 y/o father and we loved it. Cozy enough to wear a mid layer sweater and get to it! Get outside, Colorado!

So many different trails to choose from. Very close to town but feels very remote. Amazing 360 views from the top. Loved it. Not too hard either

Well marked and good trail! Definitely would recommend to everyone. Also, amazing views.

on Penitente Canyon

We only hiked the Penitente Canyon Loop, a pleasant 2-mile hike. The map/track for this hike is misleading regarding the southern leg. If you follow it, you leave the main trail to head east down a little canyon and about halfway down you have to scramble around a drop in the canyon floor. (The track does, too.) If you stay on the main trail heading southeast and bear left at each intersection, you go past Point 10 and soon end up on the Blue Loop. Within 100 yards, the marked Penitente Canyon Loop trail heads north and down toward the main parking lot, coming into the little canyon, now more a shallow valley, below the dicey spot. (Point 10 and Blue Loop are shown on the map displays and map handout available at the trailhead and along the route. Sorry I did not make a track.)

Short hike but moderately challenging if you take the rout on the right. Easy to access and great for a quick nature fix.

Absolutely beautiful hike. The end makes the long drive worth it. We'll marked and easy to find.

Short hike, beautiful falls.

Great little trail. You don’t have to work hard to get beautiful views of the surrounding area. A variety of cactus. Not a ton of shade but if you go early enough it shouldn’t be an issue.

Short easy hike to falls. Nice to have two trail options- main or primitive. Primitive trail is steeper and rockier. Falls were pretty but more of a trickle this time of year. On the flip side, aspen were turning!

This trail is definitely more enjoyable on a cooler or cloudy day. The first part of my hike was 90 degrees and sunny, and even this Texan was hot! Got cloudy and was much more enjoyable. Good for all activity levels as long as you take some breaks after the stairs up to the caves. The Kids I saw liked climbing inside! Get the guide that tells you what all the markers mean.

Trail gets hard to follow after it meets with the blue loop. Enjoyed the mix of sun and shade. Little bit of rock climbing to get to the top, but the view is great. Enjoyed watching some rock climbers along the way.

Great hike with the family! My 3 yr old ran the entire way up and Gma & Gpa were not far behind. Even though it’s short, I’m glad we brought hiking poles for uneven ground and some steeper/slippery areas

Hiked up to the misty overlook. It was difficult for me as I have a bad knee and am out of shape. But what an amazing hike, beautiful views and the magnificent feeling when we made it to the top. Will do it again

Great easy trail!

Most of this trail is an easy walk that takes you past much of the ancient Pueblo hiding that was built a millennium ago in this canyon. There are a few places where you can explore the caves built into the canyon walls. These areas are accessed by tight stairs and a few ladders. Great fun for young kids.

Noce short hike uphill with switchbacks to a BEAUTIFUL falls and small grotto like pool

Somewhat steep but short trail. Very pretty falls. Busy with people.

We loved the trails and the beauty of the area. Most disappointing is the number of dog owners breaking the rules. Too many dogs were off leash, and owners did not pick after their dogs. One unleashed dog growled at us on the trail while his owner had no response to call him back or deter the dog from aggressive displays.

I’m sure this is a great tour. Was looking for a hike to do with my dog and it says here and on their website that dogs are allowed except on the guided, interactive tours, but when I got there they said dogs can only go on the road, not on the actual trail. Though she did recommend another nearby hike I could take my dog on, which we really enjoyed. Just know that if you bring your dog here they’ll want you to leave him/her in the kennel at the bottom of the road.

Easy trail but slightly steep. The falls were a little dry due to the season. Nice little stop on our way into Pagosa Springs.
Noticed Many kids were able to make it up.

Great easy hike. Bring your swimwear so you can jump in.

Great every day trail. Convenient to town and nice relatively short loops compared to the higher trails. Lovely views at various points.

Great, short trail with steep sections. Reward is a dip in the pool under the falls to cool off. 6 year old made it no problems, just got to hold their hand on the steep parts
