Highly recommend as a winter hike with spikes and poles.
trail easy to follow. snow windswept. only summiter I saw today. one exposed section for 20 feet at the top. id bring my axe and cut steps next time. lots of mountain goats!
Beautiful day, no wind at the top. Bring your microspikes
The trail is amazing. Yesterday wasn’t windy at all for us. Spikes highly recommended, makes for sanity so you can really stop and take in the beauty around you
Great trail. Compact all the way to the rocks. No spikes going up. Recommended coming down. Yesterday was -1C at the base and -8C at the summit. The winds were light until above the try line. At the top they were 20 gust 30 Kts give or take.
Killer hike.amazing
Windy as sh*t! The dogs loved it! Gorgeous views and not too busy. Snows packed, a few icy patches. Crampons aren’t ‘necessary’ but if you opt not to wear them - at least wear waterproof pants cause you’ll be sliding a lot.
Very windy and icy at the summit. Overall a great hike
Did this trail January 16th. We saw quite a few people but it was easy to keep distance. The trail is quite snow packed down which makes it a bit more slick in some incline sections. I would definitely recommend microspikes and poles - spikes for traction and poles for balance. It could be done without potentially, and we saw some people try, but I personally wouldn’t go without. We would have butt slid a lot more on the way down and had some trouble on the way up without. No issues, however, when using spikes and poles. We did take the spikes off at the top rocky section to reach the peak, but were very grateful for poles due to some slick sections and a lot of wind. Overall a great hike for some elevation and a view without having to trek too far!
the trail is snow-covered, and slippery in spots. the stairs near the top are like slides - rough on the way up, slidy on the way down. you're likely to butt-toboggan most of the way down, so bring waterproof, warm pants. and lots of layers for the peak!!
a windy cold awesome day
First hike for my group. The trail was superb considering it being January. Started with 6 of us without poles and just microspikes, 3/6 pushed all the way to the peak and the view is once in a lifetime.
I keep trying to catch an epic sunset and this was not that time, dang it! Got up to the summit at 5:10pm just as it was nearing dark and clouds were too thick for any colour however what a friggin ride! The ascent was tough! I am glad I had my crampons but no poles. Could have came in handy but going down was UNREAL AWESOME! Slid down pretty much the entire way! Lots of running and darkness and it was so great! I went solo this trip which I adore! No fear! And poles would have slowed me down on that downward journey so no complaints! 1 hour 30mins up and maybe 40mins down! Some serious cardio! Fun! All in all... I give this a HELL YES! I will not be defeated by no sunset! It... will... come...
