Awesome experience.. beautiful views when you reach on the top.. but at this time it's a little scary with the icy path and has to be extra careful...
Great trail, nicely packed down, beautiful day, friendly fellow hikers, good dogs including my own.
Easiest winter trail by far just bring micro spikes and you will be fine. Well packed and incline is steady and very manageable. Views are actually pretty good at the top.
Absolutely beautiful day! No snowshoes needed, micro spikes were perfect- very well packed down trail. First mile is fairly easy, second mile is a relentless steep climb to the top, but 100% worth the view! Lots of people on the trail today.
2nd time doing this. Completed it in 2 hours with a 30 minute break to inhale some quality air! The stream/waterfall is nice at he end, it has a yosemite vibe. Great drinking water that flows directly into the deleware water gap.
Fantastic day with spectacular conditions: cloudless sky, no wind, well packed trail, and not too cold. We did the UNH Trail loop counterclockwise as previous hikers recommended. Such jaw-dropping views. We didn’t want this one to end. Done in about 3.25 hours with a lunch break at the summit and some short rests along the way up and down. Micro spikes the whole time. Such a fun winter hike!!! I think this is one of our favorites now.
Trail was very well packed down and micro spikes were totally sufficient up for the trail. The summit was VERY cold so recommend that when you feel like you’re about to be exposed on the summit to stop and put on another layer there before you get a chill. This is right before a sign and a sharp right turn very close to the summit. Given it was a Sunday, the trail had a few number of people on it but everyone friendly about sharing the trail. No stops on the way up or down so took us 2.5 hours round trip.
Absolutely perfect day for hiking. Sunny day, colder but not too bad. Snow was well packed. We chose to go up less steep side. Beautiful views including a stunning view of mountain Washington. We chose more steep side to descent. There were section you can slide down. So much fun. Makes you feel like a kid.
Didn’t make it to the top - my dog said no more and if it’s not fun for him, it’s not fun for me. No snowshoes needed, just spikes. First mile is a piece of cake. Second half is never endingly steep.
Skinned up.. crossed at sosman trail which was well marked. Packed snow - a bit challenging at times bc of the steep inclines but overall great trip up and fun ski down.
Beautiful hike. Wind at the top was crazy and visibility was poor. No views at all. Trail was well packed down and micro spikes were fine. A lot of people out enjoying this trail today. There were a few steep sections but nothing crazy. Steady climb with several flatter sections. Great day!!!
As of 3/6/21 the trail is excellently packed and all that is needed are microspikes.
So windy at the top that we couldn’t see the trail, so unsure if we even made it to the summit. However this was a beautiful hike up until that point! Plenty of parking but you do have to pay a $5 fee. Mostly gradual, very few steep parts. Trees were covered and snow and beautiful! Lots of friendly hikers. Be safe when the weather is bad and use your best judgement! Took us 3 hours with no break at the top.
Very challenging with the ice
solid trail, with a good incline from the middle to 0.3 from the summit. Views north, on a clear day you can see Mt. Washington and many in-between. sledded down the steeper parts of the decent on our butts, LOTS of fun.
Packed down but very icy. Super hardwood forest for a long stretch and splendid view of Lake Solitude!
nice snow packed, beautiful day, lots of people
great conditions. Hard pack. Micro spikes were a life saver.
