Well trafficked, large hill then flat.

Nice day hike if you are local. Nota challenging hike, but enough to get the blood flowing.

Did this trail on 12/30/2018 and it was a really nice trail. Well marked, a bit muddy in spots but completely manageable. The uphill was gentle and the view at the top was beautiful. Perfect for a nice group outing on a beautiful day. I wouldn't call it "challenging" (barely moderate?) but it's got enough uphill that people with knee issues may have trouble.

Hiked trail in fair weather. easy hike. Planning to hike again on this Friday the 11 for my birthday. Starting to train for Mt Washington hike this summer. Any tips?

Absolutely amazing at the top! I'd hike up this trail every week and would never get bored, as I would still marvel at the beauty of God's creation!

Breathtaking views from the knob. Worth every step of the hike.

this was such an awesome hike.
will DEFINITELY be going there again!

Nice views and not so hard trail

Get hike! Did Both Pinnacle and Pulpit Rock! Great combo!

Great hike! Highly recommend going about a mile past Annapolis Rock to Black Rock Cliff. Great views and not nearly as crowded. Go early ..... I finished my hike around 12pm and by that time the parking lot was packed and I noticed a good amount of people starting the trail. A bit muddy in some spots.

Awesome 5 miler. Moderate uphill hike on the way. Great for those getting back in to shape or even for light trail running. The 55 degree weather in January didn’t hurt! Will do this regularly. About an hour away from Montgomery County.

Make sure you bring water, it is a long hike!

I love McAfee Knob. View at the top is amazing. This is a bucket list hike for many people and for that reason I give it 5 stars however I urge everyone to go out and check out the other amazing hikes this area has to offer with hikes such as tinker cliffs, dragons tooth and sharp top.

Awesome hike. Regardless which direction you take it, you will begin by going uphill early on then walking the ridge for a few miles before going back downhill again to the reservoir road.

I love this trail. Great views. Some steep parts. Can get a little crowded on peak days. Highly recommend.

Would rate a 5 for the hike but many views were of a highway. Still really enjoyable hike and not crowded like I thought it might be for a Sunday during a holiday week.

Great hike, but got crowded.

I love the uphill battle. Stop at Piney Knob shelter. Spring near by.

One of the best hikes I've ever done. The hike itself is steady and fairly easy, not much to write home about. The view at the top is incredible and well worth it, even in the rain. Most photographed spot on the AT for very good reason. You can see the Blue Ridges in every direction and it was hard for me to pull myself away and hike back down.

Nice, steady hike with a great view. Well marked and maintained. I recommended following the trail up to do Black Rocks as well. It only adds about 2 miles to your total and also has some nice views.

Rocky course but worth it. The views at the lookout are unbeatable. Very high traffic and dog friendly.

Nice open trail. A steady incline at the beginning but pretty level afterwards. Beautiful view at the top.

Great hike. Went in December 2017. The view at the top is spectacular.

Great hike. Not difficult by any means and the trail is clearly marked. Try going early in the morning to avoid others. The photo ops at the top are stunning.

Me and my friends walked this trail a cold Sunday morning. Since it had snowed, it was hard to walk at our usual pace. It was very muddy and so many puddles. Aside that, it was a beautiful hike! Well worth our 2hr. drive. Would definitely do it again but in the summer. The views were stunning!

This trail has a really long incline. Once you reach the flat-ish section along the ridge, it is nice. When it's 25 to 30 degrees and midweek, you have the trail to yourself

Love this hike!

Great day hike with the ladies. Very empty on a December Sunday

Fun, not too crowded/ busy. I went in the Fall and got caught in the rain twice, but found shelter and didn't slip too much afterward. Moderate hike, with some challenging points, especially if you explore off the trails a bit. Stairs were a good workout! Views were incredible.

3-4 parking spots are a couple hundred feet from the trailhead on the same side of the road further away from bear mountain bridge. You can skip out on walking to the trailhead as there is a cut through to the maintrail right from the carpark area.
Steep steps in the beginning for the first .5 mile. But great views on top!

Easy hike with good incline and a beautiful view. Small dog friendly
