Trails to Try Map

Don't be fooled. This is an expert trail. Lot of. Boulder climbing and uneven surfaces. The pay off is incredible.

Awesome views

A pretty constant ascent for most of the trail but the views are great and arch was so worth it! Though the elevation wasn't too high at the end, we had a little trouble with the altitude here since we're from the northeast (brought extra oxygen in case). Distance is not very long at all and was relieved that the descent was not super steep. Highly recommend this hike!

Rugged trail. Amazing views.

Majestic arch!!!

Beautiful hike! Long one with heavily trafficked trail.

Up to Cirque Meadows is very easy. The aspens are changed, making much of the path very colourful.
We were confused at first about the marked campsites which are farther up the trail past the meadow-the sites were nice, site 3 has a good view.
The rest of the way was tougher, and some places we lost the trail as it wound up the boulders.
The end views are breathtaking, and great photo opportunities. I plan on going again in June when the wildflowers are bloomed.

The trail road to Camp Dick was a little hard to find coming from Lyons. Saw a large sign that said Camp Dick and thought to turn there, but there was a closed gate. The road is just a little further South on Hwy 72. The road is a one vehicle paved road, so be prepared to move over onto the side to allow other vehicles to pass. There were a lot of 4 WHL vehicles going up the trail and the hiking trail was hard to find. No maps or markers. Found a trail to the right of 4x4 road and followed it to the bridge, then a clear trail way to follow, but no markers. Overall a very easy trail to hike and going in has a light incline with lots of rocks and muddy areas, but shaded and pretty quiet. The waterfall isn't much to see since your up high on mountainside, but cool too listen too. Finished the trail and came back, easy hike down. My only complaint is there were several dog poop bags left on the side of trail! Come on Boulder, what's up with this? Also, dogs are supposed to be on leash and 95% weren't and spooked us and our puppy! They were good dogs though and not aggressive, so I guess that's ok. Overall, an easy hike and saw some young children, enjoyed the shade and secluded lunch by the river with my boyfriend and dog.

Good workout, kinda shaded making it nice during summer heat. Great views from top.

Pretty hike only 20 minute drive from Lyons.
Great views of reservoir and Longs Peak at the halfway point.
2.5 hours total.

It is worth it! It is not easy. It becomes Very steep and small tight switch backs. Don’t give up at Sentinal Pass. After this it’s kinda brutal because the pass is a treat too. It’s just a bit further and worth the entire stair master. A very rewarding hike. Great workout.

Great hike. Excellent views. Moderate in difficulty. Wouldn’t consider it to be very hard. I would definitely do his hike again.

The summit trail was pretty tough, gravely rocks made it slippery. The incline is constant, with some good breaks through meadows.
The end view would be better in spring/early summer when the snow is still around in the distance.
Watch your dog’s paws-some might not be able to handle how rocky it is without boots.

Great hike. Not for beginners. My husband and I (late 50s) took about an hour to hike to the top and about 40 minutes to descend. Beautiful view from the arch.

T U F F. But worth it. Go early to avoid the crowds at the top, trail is fairly simple to follow except for when it’s not.

Lovely little trail, lots of fall color right now. Saw a few people but mostly had the trail to myself. Easy enough for my short-legged dog to tag along. I didn't see a lot of poop bags like others have complained about and found this trail to be very enjoyable. Will definitely be coming back and would bring out of state friends!

Lots of stairs but beautiful view at the top! Not outrageously hard but still a good hike!

It was ok. Got there around 9am plenty of parking.

A beautiful walk through the forest with minimal elevation gain, but some areas of moderately rocky/uneven footing. Shade is plentiful throughout.

Really pretty quick hike. Easy to follow and well maintained trail!

Did this in September. Great short hike, dog loved it too. Starts out shaded, but can be hot at the top by mid day. Views at the top are great of the surrounding mountains and valley below. The trailhead parking area isn’t well marked, but follow the directions on here and it’ll take you straight there. Steep trail, good workout.

Challenging with some nice portions of rock scrambling. Views at the top are a little obscured and trail is a busy. Definitely worth it though!

gorgeous trail. When you finish the sleepy lion, take the hummingbird switchback trail for a beautiful walk around the reservoir.

Not too crowded if you start before 830.

Hiked this trail with my wife and kids. Started raining which made everything slick, but when you make it to the top the views are amazing.

More of a nature walk than a hike.

It was a steep climb and real leg burner but was beautiful. We were the only on the trail which was great!

Short but rewarding trail. Easily marked. I’ve done this trail three times now and never had a problem with crowds. The elevation makes it harder.

Definitely challenging but still doable! Great views, fun hike but quick elevation gains.

A pleasant family hike with beautiful views at the top of the trail overlooking the reservoir and mountain peaks beyond. Nice rock outcropping sniffer a perfect place to sit and enjoy an appreciated, nourishing repast with an exquisite view. The last half of the loop is a fire road which wasn’t as inviting of nature as the Lion trail on the way up. Lovely, nevertheless!
