Absolutely loved it. The scenery is beautiful and definitely a challenge for beginners.

This is your go-to family friendly hike. Be sure to arrive early as parking spots fill up quickly. (I suggest arriving around 8 am unless you want to hike to the trailhead) You will need an Adventure pass. You could purchase a day permit near the trailhead for 5 dollars, make sure you have it in cash. Have fun!

Great hike! We ended up going all the way over to the bear canyon camp ground and back! Great views and good walking trails.

Tips: bring a map and not your bicycle! There is no service anywhere and you will have to carry your bike....

My favorite trail in the DTLA area. Completely empty during the hotter months and at midday, busy during the afternoons and evenings. 4-5 miles of trail if you hit everything or do the main loop twice.

A surprisingly fun suburban hike, worth a little drive to get to. Very shady, with a pretty creek featuring lots of non-native trees. Feels more exotic than suburban La Canada.

Nice hike with good views of the Santa Monica and Malibu piers as well as PCH and downtown Los Angeles. The posted route features a small loop in the middle but is not a loop itself. Cool stone maze at the top overlooking Santa Monica and a beautiful view of the Malibu lagoon at the other end. Not busy at all and dog-friendly.

The trail is way over crowded, a lot of trash, parking sucks. it's more of a walking trail than a hike as half of it is a paved road.

Miles:5.2
Elevation:750ft
Duration: 2-3 hours
Level:easy -moderate
Dogs allowed on leash
Please bring your adventure pass to park.

When you arrive to the Switzer falls sign off the highway you will see a small road near the bathrooms. Go down that small road! There is plenty of parking down at the bottom. Start at the picnic tables. You have chances for a nice clean bathroom down at the bottom when your starting your hike. Cross the bridge and start down the paved road. The road ends about 1mile in but this trail is well marked and is very easy to follow.

This is a great hike to take your kids 6 and up. The views are beautiful. There are plenty of water crossings which makes it fun for the kids.
Your in shade about 80% of the trail but there is a small part with full exposer. We had people bring trekking Poles for the water crossings. There isn’t a lot of water there right now but enough to enjoy the views. When you get to the park where there is no shade “scream Hello!” As loud as you can and you can hear your echos bounce off the mountains! That was fun! When you get down to the bottom of your switch backs there’s shade again and your almost to the waterfall.

The waterfall doesn’t have much water in it but it’s still beautiful.

It was fun! Over all a perfect sized hike for us with dogs and kids!

Have fun! stay safe! Keep your dogs on a leash! Bring enough water and snacks, and leave no trace of trash!

What a great hike! I started from the Sturtevant trail and it was a steady but pleasant hike up through the canyon. I only recorded 4.5 miles and ~900 ft elevation gain.

lots of logs, boulders and streams to jump through. my soon to be 4yr old had a blast!

I take everyone here!!!
It has it all! The drive to the parking lots has spectacular views as well! The hike is dog and family friendly and is @ 3 miles. The trail is an ADVENTURE! Starts on pavement and views of the hills and valley then heads into the woods! Lots of cover and the trail moves along the waterway and crosses it a few times, so be careful with your footing over wet rocks! And the payoff is a gorgeous WATERFALL!!!!!
And now that we're getting some rain, finally, even better!
This hike never gets old!!!
ENJOY!!!

Love this little trail!

Busy trail for weekend warriors looking for a nice climb. Parking lot gets full by 7am so you will see cars parked on the road on the way up. Trail is easy to follow and the falls are underwhelming thanks to the dry So Cal summer.

Easy trail to follow along. Make sure head down(left) when you get to the fork. I personally found it on the easier die but the sun is draining on a hot summer day. Not many people on the trail when I went but the heat help keep people home. Snuck up on a deer grazing on some plants on the trail. Not a lot of water in September so don't expect much when you get to the falls.

Get there early if you want to find parking!

You guys are full of it this gives you a side view of the sign that’s it

Several approaches to the top and we took a pretty treacherous stair case trail. Up top is pretty cool with benches and tables and the history and Amir’s story is nice. I’d definitely try another way up the next time.

As previously stated parking is a challenge if you don’t arrive early. Over all it was a nice leisurely hike many squirrels, dragon flies and butterflies.. Colors are beginning to change. Was able to take a nice peaceful nap at Hodgees campsite before heading back down the trail.

This is my first hike in a national forest and I really enjoyed it! This route in particular wasn’t too steep and has plenty of shade, my 10 year-old brother who didn’t really have any hiking experience said it was an easy hike. Just make sure you arrive early because the parking lot fills up quickly; we arrived at 6:50 am (Sunday) and we had to park a long way down the road!

Nice shady short hike.

Very nice moderate trail, very shady except for the uphill part. One of my favorites for sure.

Short, well maintained, well marked trail with great views of the San Gabriel Mountains and SGV. Perfect beginner hiking trail, also would be a fun beginning MTB trail.

Currently my favorite trail, however it becomes very busy during the week ends. I would suggest to arrive super early or car pool.

It's fun, constantly changing, has a running river, lots of trees for shade and big rocks. Pretty dusty tho.

a nice short hike with a view down to La Canada and Glendale and the Crescenta Valley and you can see Descanso Gardens. we did this hike about 4 months ago

Just a trickle of water at the falls but otherwise the views are spectacular of the surrounding mountains. Saw a variety of different birds, plants and trees. It was hot but most of the hike is shaded thankfully.

get there early. ..expect delay with heavy foot and vehicle traffic... hike overall is cool...also stay on the trail...lol

We visited today at around 7:30 am and finding parking was a hassle! Overall getting to the waterfall wasn’t overly difficult however save the energy for the way back, its much more difficult. Overall this is a beautiful trail and is very tranquil. Definitely would recommend it.

Hot today!! A bit crowded and parking was difficult.
Great hike though.
