Ass-kicker.

Great, easy, dog friendly hike. The view of the lake is beautiful, if you can tolerate the crowd. The trail is in excellent condition and there’s plenty of parking at the trailhead.

Not for kids or dogs. Watch your footing as it gets very narrow in some spots. It was pouring rain when we went so we had to be extra cautious on the slopes and the ladder.

Wonderful and rewarding hike. The many bugs made it hard to eat our lunch. We brought bathing suits but could not find anywhere we could safely enter the lake. Not too many hikers the day we went, though it was a Tuesday. Highly recommend.

so gorgeous!

It’s a hard road throughout hiking. It was a challenging rather than enjoying the scenery nature offers like other hiking b/c up/ down hills hurt feet a lot. I felt I go through a hardship but resting and majestic scenery on the top after a long hard walking makes all of hardship worthy and grateful to survive from it and appreciate the beauty of nature!

It was a good hike, enjoyed it. The lake is very beautiful!

This was my very first hike and the fellas and i really had no idea what we were in for .. If you aren't a regular hiker (like myself) and aren't in top shape , be prepared to push yourself harder than you ever have . The trail was beautiful, the views were beautiful . There are some very steep areas that will test your quads . Personally i had to take lots of little breaks to let my legs recharge . It was hard mentally and physically to accomplish but well worth it in the end. It was a great accomplishment. It was just under 12 km from where we Parked so about 23.5 km round trip ! My biggest regret was not having buying hiking poles.. it WILL save your legs

Nice hike and a decent view. But I hope you enjoy sharing the trail.

great hike up. good workout. did it with my 12 yr old son. he only complained minimally. view is absolutely gorgeous. will be doing this one again.

One of my favorite hikes in the PNW. It's a very popular trail, so get there early. Leave yourself at least 5 hours to complete the trail, but give yourself more time if you want to stay at the lake for a bit. Try to go on a sunny day as the water looks a brighter shade of blue in the sunlight.

This is an amazing hike worth every step. I highly recommend this trail.

It was such a pretty trail with an amazing view. There are some point where the trail is steep but it’s worth it when you see the views.

Great hike! was apprehensive to do old trail....but we made it in 3 hours and would gladly do the old trail again on the way up. Took the new trail on the way down... very well groomed but long. But was a knee saver. Well worth it and would do it again.

Have done this trail a few times. One of my favorite, “quick and easy” trails. Yesterday I went to hike it again with my brother when we spotted something about 25 ft down a switchback running into the brush. Back end looked like a cat. We had no issues but def be prepared, always!

A tough hike but well worth it once you leave the switchbacks and forests behind. The views of the surrounding mountains is the warm up for getting to see Blanca Lake. It truly is worth the gruel and I will do it again when the seasons change in a few weeks. Two things 1) Don't give up and 2) coming down takes half the time it takes to get up.

Trash Everywhere!

First I need to say how disappointed I am with the hikers using Washington trails! I watched volunteers spending an entire day cleaning trash from this one trail. It took a team of people the entire day to pick up trash that should never have been left in the first place. Very Sad.

If your going to hike this or any other Washington State trail take your trash out with you. If you see some disrespectful hiker leaving trash say something.

And to all you pet owners! If your dog poops don’t put it in a bag and toss the bag off the trail. Seriously, what is wrong with you people.

If you can’t show respect for other hikers and the environment, stay off the trail.

This is the second most beautiful thing I've seen this year! The first was female so I don't think that's a fair comparison. I had to hold back my emotions, I'm a man of course, I was just not prepared for how stunning this lake was in person. This is something you must see for yourself.

The lake is not made of a non-nutonian fluid, I tried walking on it and I sank. That's how my pictures came out so awesome!

If you're not quite sure if you have bad knees or not... You'll definitely know after this hike! LOL

Don't forget to see the falls at the end of the trail. I got in the water to take some pictures from the other side.

Easy hiking. I love this place ⛰

This was my first “actual hike” I’ve done since moving to Washington, other than point defiance of local parks. It was amazing!! I went yesterday (September 6). I decided to hike it for sunrise..1) because less people and 2) I love sunrises!! It took my 40 minutes to get up. I was definitely not hydrated enough and wore way too many layers. I had to use my flashlight for most of it but it eventually stared getting light so I put it away. When I got to the top there were only 2 other people. Six others ended up coming up during sunrise. It was so so beautiful. On my way down, I took my time so I could actually enjoy the scenery. There were a lot more people going up at that time. It was around 8 or a little before. I headed over to the lake after. Highly recommended this hike! I will be doing another sunrise hike soon.

This trail is very difficult but worth the effort! I would recommend going on a weekday and starting early in the morning. We started at 8:45am and arrived at the lake at 12:00pm. (I took several short breaks along the way!) We spent about an hour at the lake relaxing and refueling. The trip back was almost as difficult as getting to the lake. Because of the steep incline, it can be hard on the knees. The blueberry bushes are ripe and ready to eat along the trail. The mosquitoes and flies were out but not too bothersome. This is definitely a trail that shouldn’t be passed up.

Steep at points with some loose gravel but incredible view at the top and almost entirely shaded. Can be quite crowded.

So hard. So beautiful..

Incline don’t miss leg day. Breath taking worth the hike.

Awesome hike! Arrived at parking lot around 8:30 and it was 95% full. Started out on the trail around 8:45. They need one of those jumping deer signs as we scared up a couple of deer and they jumped! Watch out for the tree roots that seem to be alive. We stopped counting the number of times we tripped. The lake is gorgeous. The hike was tough (we are in our mid 50s), but very doable. We were out about 4 1/2 hours with a 30 minute break at the lake and picture breaks along the way.

We had so much fun on this trail! We did the harder upper cave with my partner and four kids ranging in age of 6 to 19, they all did really great! Tips: bring a jacket, sturdy shoes, long pants, and a GOOD headlamp. You want your hands for climbing. Being an extra flashlight too. I took us almost an hour and a half to get through just the upper cave portion, not including the trail back. Enjoy!!

Read a lot of reviews mentioning how tough the hike is beforehand and pretty sure it is! The views om the top tho are totally worth it. Took the new trail up and down, around 3.5 hrs up and 2 hrs down. I'm pretty sure I was one of the slower people on the trail so if you're a regular hiker then should be around 2.5 hrs up. Couldn't see Mt Rainier today but even then the views make up for it. The last one mile on rocks is tough, be prepared for it. Would definitely recommend it if you're up for a challenge

Challenging Hike. Extremely Rewarding.

My Friends texted me saying they wanted to go hiking, so naturally I thought hell yeah!

Personally, I was not expecting this hike to be so brutal. :')

By the time I reached the top I was crawling on my hands, all the muscles in my legs were shutting down from how tense they were.

I'd highly recommend taking breaks.

In conclusion, one of my most memorable hikes. You will run into amazing people who all share an affinity for nature and being outdoors. Bring trinkets, stickers that you can place on/in the Mailbox.

Easy hike. You do gain some elevation the last mile or so but then it flattens out and goes downhill. There was old bear skat when I went but saw no bears. Pretty easy hike for me. When you start you walk through the woods then come to an opening then go back into the woods then cross a dirt road then go back into the woods. When you get close to the lake you will know because there are some openings where the trail gets rocky. The area where you camp is gorgeous and so green. The lake is amazing Too and my dog loved swimming in it.

Toughest one that I have hiked in this area so far. We did the old trail up and new trail down. 2.5 going up and little less going back down. Old trail is boring, it goes on forever 5+ miles but definitely beats your leg muscles. Next time I am just doing old trail up and down. I hiked couple of days ago and my calf muscles can still feel the pain, totally worth it though. I want to do this once a year at a minimum. The views up top are amazing. Wish I had spent more time at the top. Next time.
